I love your videos. the closeups of the tortoises are fantastic. I always look forward to "turtle" Sundays! You take such great care of each and everyone even though you have so many. Amazing how much the Galapagos babies have grown. And how healthy they look.
Thank you :) My grandpa found a Desert Tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) in Southern Nevada with a craked shell, he mended him the best he could and nursed him back to health. The vet said he wouldn't make it and it wouldn't work. But it did. Tubby lived almost 50 more years. A wild female escaped INTO the back yard and we had babies each fall and spring. Grandpa worked with the BLM moved the clutches back to the desert
I feel better about my Charlie now. He's a redfoot that I inherited as a year old and 4 years later... he's mine. I've learned a lot! Love your videos! I'm so appreciative of you sharing
What a wonderful 15 minutes of tortoise "fame"! Thank you for this primer on these beautiful creatures. If our education system in the West were to focus on children gaining direct acquaintance with as many animal, insect, reptile, amphibian and plant species as possible, humans might become the stewards this beautiful planet deserves.
Such beautiful animals. Always enjoy your videos, appreciate you and wife's dedication. Your daughters are truly lucky to experience all the wonderful reptiles. ❤️
So glad I got to see some my favorite species of Tortoises. I love learning about the genetic & evolutionary history of Torts; I hope to see you talk about Tortoise/ Turtle evolution, because there's been exciting research on where they sit on the tree of all animal life. Reptiles, crocodiles, or even birds might be their closest genetic relatives. Your family's perspective would be great to hear!
I love all of them! How they managed to spread all over our planet in their graceful slowliness, it took billions of years! Saying hello from Germany 🇩🇪
I think when one LOVES what they do and find their TRUE Love who also loves the same things it just becomes natural to be it everyday conversation. And a Happy life. 😋😎
@Elmer Blu I love what I do. I come from a large family of nurses and doctors....but my mom banded medical talk at the dinner table so the rest of the family could keep their appetite!🤣🤣🤣❤️😇
Never thought I’d be watching a bunch of 15-20-minute long videos on tortoises, but, well, here I am Found this channel one day after helping a tortoise cross the street.
I've seen a lot of RUclips videos in general. This video is great, it puts quite a few videos and general entertainment + information to shame. Thank you for your hard work and this great video! I wish you and your Garden State Tortoise all the best. Best regards from Germany ✌🏽🤠🌴
This was fascinating! Such interesting and gorgeous creatures! It makes me so sad that so many of them are endangered😢 Also I can’t believe you have a Galapagos tortoises! That is the coolest thing!
Agreed. I live in the UK, and in a reptile shop close to me there are about 20 baby sucatas for sale there. And anyone can buy them. On one occasion a family were looking to buy one, i told them the size it would get to, the shop was lying. After they then finally looked on Google they realised what i was saying was correct and didn't buy them.
And the babies can be soooo cheap! Cheaper sometimes than many other baby tortoises. Makes it too easy for people to access them not realizing how big they will get
@@ericarichardson2983 you can say that again. One of my favourite reptile shops had some left in a box on their doorstep , and they're selling them for twenty bucks a tort- IF you have proof you can care for them, at least.
I'm involved in a captive breeding program for the Negev tortoise, which is a subspecies of the Egyptian tortoise. We don't have any babies yet as the program is brand new, but we have a lot of hope to be able to release some into the wild at some point.
I loved this video! I own 3 ball pythons but can only dream of owning tortoises and turtles. I don't have the space for one right now but I used to have a western-painted turtle. He was a rescue (found at my s/o workplace which wasn't a very safe place for such a wee little baby) and I didn't have intentions of keeping him since he was wild. I kept him until he was about a year old and then released him back into the wild (the pond in my neighbor's yard). It was very hard releasing him after watching him grow in the first year of his life.
I love your turtle 's there beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ allof them thnx you for sharing the video ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I'll be your friend's ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Las red foot están hermosas La de Indonesia La estrellada de la India La de Madagascar ese color amarillo tan bello Me gustan todas 😍😍😍😍😍 No conocía la antepenultima, antes de la Aldabra
How do you tell the difference between the Star tortoise and the Radiated tortoise? 🐢❤️🐢 Edit: Had to come back to say that the common denominator in almost all extinct or critically endangered species is human beings. 😡😡🤬
Hi there Lori! Here’s an older video we did on Burmese, Indian, Sri Lankan and radiated tortoise that may help answer your question. ruclips.net/video/wrrtp-LBtIo/видео.html Thank you so much for watching👍🏻👏🏻😊
I just visited the Seychelles and saw the biggest tortoises I had ever seen. They were amazing and the islands there are doing an amazing great job conserving their habitat and species.
If you enjoyed this video, watch the one we did on TURTLES right here: ruclips.net/video/o1rsKpUWXoQ/видео.html
Your animals are absolutely beautiful. I can’t believe how much info you just packed in to 15 minutes. Thank you.
Ditto!
Watching tortoises eat fruit and leaves really makes my day. Just small little crunches from tough tiny mouths. They look so content with life...

Thank you so much for educating us. I had no idea there were so many varieties and they have such unique personalities.

I love all of them! How they managed to spread all over our planet in their graceful slowliness, it took billions of years! Saying hello from Germany 🇩🇪
Another great video 🐢🐢👍👏👏☺️
Wonderful video. Really enjoyed your presentation and so love to see them close up. Captive breeding gives hope for those endangered species.
Thumbs up..1 of the VERY FEW uploaders who actually knows what he's talking about.
Your galapagos are lookin great! I'd love to have one or two, but I'm not sure my current yard could support a 3rd giant tortoise species...lol
Aw, what else do you have?
Beautiful, awesome and cool. Thanks for all your great videos. Godbless
thank you so much for your love of TORTOISES. thank you.
I have to wonder how you can keep all your information straight? I have 2 PhDs and have to constantly read up on new information in my field! 😇❤️
I think when one LOVES what they do and find their TRUE Love who also loves the same things it just becomes natural to be it everyday conversation. And a Happy life. 😋😎

Sucata sales should be outlawed or at least regulated. I live in an apt I could buy one right now. It's disgusting

Heavily regulated, even most residence in super warm livable outdoor area don’t and won’t give proper care.
And the babies can be soooo cheap! Cheaper sometimes than many other baby tortoises. Makes it too easy for people to access them not realizing how big they will get
I agree

Why are some of the she's shiny and others are not. Do you oil them or are they naturally shiny.
Are the Galapagos' shells black so they can absorb heat from sunshine?
Can you tell me a little about a calif dessert tortoise?
