I’m sorry but nearly everything in this video is wrong and can cause harm to the tortoise. The light should be facing down not at an angle, the cave area should be open or they will get too cold, the food given isn’t for horsfields they need fresh weeds and flowers only (see the tortoise table app for what is safe) and the substrate used can cause impact ion, top soil is best churned weekly and sprayed daily on top of a pond liner. You baby is so cute though so I hope these changes improve their life 💜
@Mitch JBP in a tortoise group i follow a tortoise recently died from digesting beech chips so they are more dangerous than substrate. I have top soil for mine and no attempts for eating it have been made
Their diet can consist of lambs lettuce, Romaine's lettuce, red leaves lettuce, spring mix etc, flowers and safe weeds. Dandelions are probably the best food out there for them. Lights can be faced on a slight angle but still provide a good basking spot unlike his. His lamp could be better though in terms of the cover thing.
Shut up please.
Is coco cour OK? Looking to get a tort soon and want to do the best for them
@@Medusiiyes use it to mix in with the top soil like I do :)
I would recommend that everything gets set up at least 48 hours in advanced so you can test the temperatures and humidity throughout the day and night x
Btw, to the people who are getting a horsefield tortoise, they get 5x the size that they are as babies so just be aware of that :) (i have one btw)
I have a Horsefield tortoise aswell. Got in on 2019 in October igs currently 2 years old.

Its really not
@@joecwoods821 I literally went to that guys shop yesterday, what a lovely bloke
i also got a 2020 horsefield from and online shop i believe they may be from the same batch and siblings 🥺
I give my horsefield tortoise fruits, veg, weeds and flowers. The heat lamp should be facing DOWN and the cave shouldnt be to cold since their natural habitat is desserts and hot places
They should never be fed fruit and the night time natural temperature is cool.
@Shay Gardner it isn't recommended as it can upset their gut flora and that's something to try to avoid
@@mm7909dont spread misinfo. They easily can be fed fruits but sparingly. Like you do with bearded dragons. Its more of to do with vitamins and oxalates than with gut flora lmao
@@Jinx-z2g Educate yourself. They should not be fed fruit. They are not bearded dragons.
i have a horsefield tortoise and the banana food did not work my tortoise is called shelby
this is just so bad i hope he is still going ........
So I can’t put one in a tank with a closed roof??
Terrible care
Why
@@dozzio firstly the bulb. It's heat and uvb in one so when the bulb goes off at night the tortoise has no heat overnight. Them kind of bulbs also cannot be thermostated therefore will get far too hot. They are designed for big animal enclosures like in zoos e.t.c that close will cause skin cancer and countless health issues. Secondly the food. Horsefield tortoises should not be fed vegetables and stuff like that. They should be fed a 100% garden weed diet. Grass, dandelions, nettles to name a few. Things like lettuce, tomatoes contain a lot of moisture and no fibre this causes pyramiding in their shells and will eventually kill it. Tortoises do not drink through their mouth. They absorb water through their butt hole (to put it bluntly) consuming moisture through their mouth, like I said, causes pyramiding. Hope that helps
Can't watch eny more the music is killing me
Look the same as my tortoise
they look identical
WE HAVE THAT SAME ENCLOSURE
Its not that uncommon lmfao
