It has been suggested that she bore him two children but they were never acknowledged as Henry’s (possibly because he already had acknowledged Henry Fitzroy). Her husband at the time was compensated well which suggests that there may be some truth in the rumours.
Henry did admit to having an affair with Mary Boleyn during the time of Catherine Carey’s conception and birth. It made no sense to acknowledge a bastard girl. But he did bestow lands on Catherine’s “father” perhaps as compensation. Her younger brother, may have been conceived towards the end of the affair and at the time of his birth, Henry was already interested in Anne, which could explain him not acknowledging this illegitimate son (Fitzroy existed thus proving that the fault lay with Catherine of Aragon). He made no mention of children by Mary Boleyn, only an affair, when applying for a dispensation to marry Anne Boleyn, but at that time, in law, the married man was presumed and accepted to be the father, so that may explain why he did not feel the need to acknowledge them or risk further scandal. If you look at Henry Carey, he is the male version of Elizabeth I, some say it is because of their mothers being sisters (Mary Boleyn does however look softer and prettier than Anne), but have a look at Margaret Beaufort... I think the “cousins” share her facial features too. So yes, if you ask me, they were fathered by Henry VIII rather than Mary’s Husband, Carey.

He was portrayed as 'Kingly' and was of a different era. These are paintings done and approved for show. He was, by all accounts, remarkably talented musician, dancer and extremely athletic. Greensleeves is a song written by Henry. Very tall and a powerful wrestler. You must remember, Henry was not in line to be king, he had a brother who was expected to rule but died. Henry loved all types of outdoor activity and Hawking. There are a number of early paintings that show him in a better light. He suffered from a leg wound from jousting, which he loved. It refused to heal under the medicine of that era. Likely there still was a piece of lance in the leg. It suppurated and caused much pain. It also put an end to his athletic activity. Causing him to become more heavy also.

Still sounds like he did a lot in his short life.
All of Henry VIII's boys died young.
@@williamegler8771 yeah but not at 17. Probably the average age of death was 40. If you were rich you would probably live longer. Henry fitzroy was sickly, that's why he died so young.
@@dwightlangston5444 If the average age at death was 40 and he lived to 17 he did better than a lot of his contemporaries.
Fifty percent of children never saw their fifth birthday.
They said he was a sickly child and if he hadn't been the son of a king, with access to doctors and a better diet, he most likely would have died earlier.
The Portrait you present as Elizabeth Blount by Bartolomeo Veneto has more often been considered to be Lucrezia Borgia. It's a beautiful portrait but can you imagine that a Lady in Waiting for the Tudor Court posing for such a risque manner. Then again Lucrezia's Father was a Pope. Not your every day kind of Pope mind you. It doesn't resemble Elizabeth's other portraits at any rate. It does resemble one of a younger Lucrezia that resides at the Vatican however.
Didn`t he grow up at Hunsdon Hall ?
Dude, consumption is tuberculosis
Is Bessie Blount's family related to James Blunt (real name Blount)?
Henry Fitzroy is actually well known... I'm really interested in learning about the possible other illegitimate children that Henry VIII fathered.

@@jimlieland5951 - Thank you, I'll check it out!
I personally don’t think I have ever seen a picture of Henry looking attractive Most of the wives and mistresses didn’t have a choice but to be with him, sleep with the king or lose your head
Yes I’ve read that he was very good looking as a young man but because of his injury he stopped being active and put on a lot of weight.
So we r all going to ignore that he is wearing a Gucci headscarf :0
As late as the close of the Victorian Era, it was considered "shocking" NOT to yield, with all apparent eagerness, to the king's "interest".
@@veramae4098 Well you can ask some Presidents about that policy, actually!
We are direct descendants from Henry. Our family name is Blount. My uncle did our family tree back to the year 400. I have always had a red heart birthmark and was always told that meant a sign of royalty. I was grown when I found out we were descended.
I think the Blount name in our family just happened, not that it is part of the line.
Brilliantly done, as usual alway's informative.👊😀
When are we going to get some merchandise? Would gladly buy a key ring or a mug. 😁
Thanks for your kind words Simon! In terms of merch it'll be a while before I release some. (My designing skills are not great, plus i'd love to bring some quality merch to people. Something worth having)
@@TheUntoldPast that would be great but no rush I will gladly wait.
Any fan of history knows Fitzroy, and in fiction he a Canada vampire in Blood Ties.
I love Tanya Huff's Blood series. So appropriate that Henry Fitzroy became a writer of historical bodice-rippers!
A great episode. I like your style.
Watch My Bloody Mary's episode!
Learn something new w/each video!🤓🤓🤓🤗🤗🤗🤗tytytytytyty
I'm convinced, something was seriously wrong with King Henry's DNA.
Fatness? Lol
I believe he had something called Kell’s antigen. When his kell positive blood was introduced to his wives’ bodies through their fetuses, the women’s immune systems attacked and destroyed all the kell positive blood, i.e. the fetus. Many men with kell positive blood also develope McCleod syndrome, which causes huge physical and mental changes around middle age.
Sad, Henry 1X could have made our history so very different.
Thanks for your hard work, much appreciated 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for your kind words - definitely, History could be very different!
If he was named Fitzroy which means - fitz son and roy King he can hardly be thought to be unrecognised
There was a book series by an author named Tanya Huff where Henry Fitzroy is the main character. But instead of dying, he was turned into a vampire. He ended up living in Canada and writing historical romance novels under a pen name. It's a pretty good series.
Did you watch blood ties? Only one season though 😒
@@shawnagrubb9958 I watched the first episode, but didn't care for it so didn't watch any more.
@@susanmacdonald4288 that's what your first comment made me think of though.

Comment #61, March 3, 2021, 5:27 pm, ET, USA. Exceptionally well done! A little known part of history.
Sad that I couldn't meet him, but good for him cause he would have lost his respect the moment a legitimate son came along
He wasn’t forgotten... he died?
Remember Henry male line was cursed by his grandmother, author died young also Henry Fitzroy and prince Edward, those boys had some boss ass Grandmother's.
Yep that’s why they didn’t last
Wich grandmother? And why that curse?
@@lutjeingonike9391 Elizabeth Woodville - why - because her sons were the Princes in the Tower she cursed her sons killers so that their sons would not live. This is why Henry VIII never had any sons who lived to reach adulthood. People still underestimating the power of cursing when the effects of this one played out on a royal level.
Potefact castle is near where I live
Didn't Mary Boleyn have a son for him?
Stillborn.
I was actually referring to Henry Carey, believed by some go be Henry VIII illegitimate son born 1526. But who knows.
Didn’t he also have a son and daughter with Mary Boleyn?
You are absolutely right. Katherine had 2 or 3 boys and Anne had a couple miscarriages that were said to be boys. I wish Henry knew it was his fault.
How about Henry Carey, 1st Baron Hunsdon he was Henry's son as well
As
Yes, his mother was Mary Bolen, Anne's older sister. She was married to Carey at the time, but it was assumed Henry was the father.
Does anybody else get swim team vibes from the cap he is wearing???
Lmao talk about stacking the jury.... 🙄
Henry Fitzroy has , obviously , not been forgotten . But I feel sure that some other offspring will have been

The shit that one man cause for the sake of a son. I knew about this son and always wondered why he never got mentioned só great video, they all were the image of the ugly man 😁
Forgotten by whom?
Well this is where The Tudors show was inaccurate for sure as they had Fitzory dead by age 5!
Though it was entertaining & I enjoyed watching it, The Tudors was FILLED with historical inaccuracies.
Yes the age was inaccurate but does it really matter? It did show that he received titles and that he died young🤷♀️
@@xxmarsbarxx21 True
Ann boelyn sister gave birth to henry son didnt he?
He had quite a few illegitimate children
Supposedly, he fathered one with Jane Pollard, Sir Hugh Stuwkleys wife's, child named Thomas Stuwkley, 20 generations from me!
Whoever made this video needs to take it down its full of flaws and misleading infor
Forgotten?!?!?
I'm Brazilian and I know who he was 👀📖 all you have to do is pay attention to History Classes.
I dont think he was forgotten, I wasnt taught about henry fiz in school and only learnt though utube.
It appeared Henry 8th had every intention to make Henry fiz his heir untill he saddly died at 16.
Yes so it seems
- and frankly he probably would have been the best fit for the job - Elizabeth I was undoubtedly the strongest in the running and her reign was a huge blessing glorious in life and in death - James inheriting England created the United Kingdom as we know it now.
Well but after Edward VI was born he was gonna be sidelined anyway.
If Henry VIII had protected his son more effectively and Henry Fitzroy had become King his bloodline and the Tudor dynasty could have prevailed.
Tuberculosis doesn't discriminate - it kills everyone equally.
@@tuathadesidhe1530 um yes that’s correct but there is a murder rumour so it really depends on how you believe he died.

I've never understood why he was painted with that cap. Back then, most ppl were painted in their best. But Fitzroy is seen in a bed cap and shirt. Just weird.
Love your vids!
Thank you John! You're too kind!
He had a but load of kids
Nice story 👌
I love your tudor videos!
I knew about him.
He has a big tomb inside Framlingham church suffolk been there a few times
I like his Gucci headscarf 😁
Great video 👏👏👏
Did Fitzroy literally mean King’s bastard?
It means Son of the King (the nice way of putting it)
Henry VIII, YOU ARE THE FATHER!!!
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
It wasn’t gender. It was sex. Stop this nonsense. Use some common sense. Otherwise, Mary and Elizabeth could have just identified as men.
