I dont like him. I feel like he has an ulterior motive of some kind. Like the things he says here isn't a reflection of his original, main, self, but an ulternative made in order to make certain bros smash the like button. Super manipulative, switching to catering to the masses like this.
I think what most people don't understand about the phrase "luck is a skill" is that the people who say it don't mean literal random number generation is a skill, after all, how can something out of both players' control be a skill? What most people actually mean when they say the phrase is luck management is a skill. If you're able to make the most out of good luck and work your way around bad luck to where it doesn't screw you over as much, THAT is a skill.
Also if you try to get lucky more often than your opponent you are more likely to get the lucky outcome. Like crits in Pokémon, if you just keep attacking while your opponent is defending it is more likely you will get a crit over your opponent.
Yea, but it's also supposed to piss people off when you either do get great luck, got a moment of luck that defines a game or sarcastically saying it if someone is trying to call out a deserved win
@@turndownforULT biggest thing is that menu can never roll any of the same spells 2x in a row, so for example if a hero player like paul rolls a menu with 4 spells and reads the full menu and closes it again, the hero can play neutral for a while and will know that the spells he had before have no chance of showing up. if youre aware of the rules of how menu works it becomes a lot more consistent when it comes to finding certain spells and a lot less “luck based” in the traditional smash way. overall amazing video though, i really really enjoyed watching and am a huge fan of your work 🙏
Cool video. I think it would also be interesting to explore the relationship between conditioning, reading and luck. We all know that Smash is about covering options from the opponent but I feel like we never talk about the impossibility to play "perfectly", meaning there is always a remainder of luck.
All the mentioning of special moves makes me remember that Lucas has no moves that he learns in mother 3 despite having 2 move that’s would make sense (pk love final smash, pk counter, down B reflecter/counter) this isn’t really from a competitive standpoint but more from a why does Lucas have exclusively Kumatoras psi moves
In a fight, I suspect grabbing anything to throw in their eyes is pretty much the closest to RNG. It could be dust, dirt, rocks, a brick? Human Down B is throw random object on the ground.
BMP's come up has been inspirational, but personally I'd still give the title of best Hero to Aka; he's made top 24 at his last 7 majors! just in 2024 he's beaten Apollokage, Kome, Bassmage and Rarukun. BMP has definitely been making a case for himself though
1:15 Hero’s heal is not limited to twice per match. It is twice per stock, with each stock Hero takes adding one more potential heal to his current stock.
I think you should! Ultimate is very fun once you’re able to get into it! The possibilities are quite literally endless! Some games *cough cough* Melee *cough cough* may be more fast-paced, but Ultimate feels more strategy-based and if you’re the kind of person who leans into that stuff, I’d say go for it!
@@Valentinesdayghost This is what I find interesting about ultimate, but ngl the massive roster feels a bit overwhelming. I feel like I have to learn so much. In Melee I have fun and I like the fast paced action, but I don't play meta chars, so the game can be frustrating and feels completely unfair/unbalanced. I like the fact that Ultimate seems more balanced! I might get it soon.
@@Jowannabe Yeah, the massive roster can be extremely overwhelming, especially when throwing in extra factors such as the Miis being able to change their moveset. It is the most balanced game in the series, however, so matchups matter less than you may think. It’s not like Melee where Bowser can’t win against Fox almost at all, and a Ganon has plenty of a chance against a Steve, per sé. Yes, there are extremely disadvantageous matchups but none are quite unwinnable.
Another facet of the Hero verse Icies matchup is that Hero gets Double MP when his attacks hit both climbers, making resource management against them almost non existent.
1:15 Heal is twice per stock, not per match. Hero also gets his two charges back if he KO's the opponent. As such, he can theoretically heal up to 10 times in a single match if he uses up his heals ASAP (2 initial + 4 from getting KO'd twice + 4 from KOing the opponent twice). Great video otherwise! It was very informative!
Simple answer, the best players are the ones who are the most opportunistic when they get lucky. Furthermore, good habits in competitive games and sports generally produce opportunities to be lucky. Just look at Hockey and you will see that on display. Many bounces and goals are complete luck, but the players had to keep throwing pucks at the net and managing to win battles along the boards to make those goals possible.
I’m focusing my main channel more on longform documentary this year and I wanted to make sure everything else has its own lane. Unfortunately I think keeping everything on my main channel in 2023 hurt some of my bigger projects, and I want to make sure things are more cleanly divided so my audience doesn’t get confused or disappointed!

Yeah I mean again the big motivation for this is to create clear lanes for each of the channels - putting everything on main actively hurt me last year
Yea, hero may be pretty bad but man he is one of the most unfun characters to actually play against because you have zero idea how a person will play and what they'll do with the random bs they throw out. He is a terrible execution of an already terrible idea for a fighting game and he really should've just had a normal down b

Didn’t even notice this was a new channel. Looking forward to more ult stuff, also, every time I see Hero “Hero Niceee” echoes in my head lmao.
My favorite Hero move is to Kamikaze on my last stock. I play him a lot and for some reason the intrusive thoughts always win...
