  • ABOUT THIS EPISODE: Environmental artist Bryant Holsenbeck makes beautiful creations using materials that many people think of as trash. It could be one of her amazing art installations - made from things like plastic bottles and caps - that take on majestic scales and fill entire rooms. Or perhaps it's one of her wonderful animals - made from scrap fabric or discarded fishing line - that seem almost lifelike.
But whatever she's doing, she hopes to impress you with the potential beauty of your trash. Then, once she's got your attention, maybe you walk away thinking about the value of things you used to waste.
In addition to her stunning visual art, she is a prolific writer and the author of a book - "The Last Straw" - based on a year she spent living without single-use plastic. She welcomed the Salvage Upcycle Show into her studio in Durham NC, so sit back for a few minutes and enjoy this quick glimpse of this renowned environmental artist.

I've been getting books from dumpsters to make paper crafts. At least I'm not making garbage. Thanks. Tina, Al's wife
