This video has been chasing me around RUclips for the past month or so. I figured YT’s algorithm must really want me to watch it so I finally did. I make my own stamps too, though a bit differently. I use 6mm EVA foam (fun foam) for the backing piece and 2 or 3mm EVA foam for the mark making part. I hot glue the foam pieces together.
Using this combo means that every part of my stamp is made from the same material which means I can wash the entire stamp in the same way. Hot glue is also EVA, for those who don’t know. EVA is ethyl-vinyl acetate. It also makes the stamp recyclable but good luck figuring out how to do this in your community. It’s worth reading the Wikipedia article on EVA.
My print set up is usually multiple plates so that I can stamp onto another plate. After stamping off I set my stamps on wet paper towel to prevent paint from drying on the stamp. Clean up can wait till the end of my printing session.
It is also fun to make roller stamps with foam. Just glue the foam to a cardboard tube from tp or kitchen roll and then slide a paint roller handle into the tube. Great for making wrapping paper or fabric yards.
Another idea is to add texture to your fun foam so that you can make patterned shapes. Simon Harley’s Stamping Foam is also EVA, of course. And just like stamping foam, fun foam can be heated and have a texture impressed into it. I only heat and add texture to fun foam once. EVA formulas vary. I don’t think fun foam is quite as malleable as Stamping Foam.
I hand cut foam too, but I make most of my stamps from die cuts. Fun foam can be cut with both manual and electronic die cutters, which opens up all kinds of possibilities, doesn’t it?
I like this! Thanks for sharing your talent. Make more fun, make your own, I like it!!!
I wish I had watched this yesterday and bought some foam sheets at Michael’s when I went for other supplies. 😅I love this idea. I think the ones that had real contrast were the most successful.
This video was so cool! So many ideas I'm gonna try! And printing onto little notebooks was geniusss
Glad you liked it!! Thanks for watching!
Great ideas🤗 I love you mark markers. I keep a damp paper towel nearby to lay my wet painty stamp onto it.
What fun designs, I like them simple and organic as well.
Thank you! Cheers!
Glad you posted this! I thought I needed more stencils for gel printing, but now I have a great alternative! The handle is a good idea too.
Wow, the stamps are stupendous! Thanks for all the color in my life this afternoon Mister Eddie!
Goodness! This is really inspirational! Never thought of creating my own stamp.
Glad you're inspired. They're fun and easy to make.
I love making foam stamps for the gelli plate! I think the first one you used on the plate was my favorite: very mid century modern ❤️ Great job Eddie! So fun 😄
Thank you Yolande!
I really like your stamp designs & how you've created them. I'll be ordering some from P & M Artist Studio Thanks Eddie!
Cool! 😍
So inspiring! I make some out of foam too and yours have helped me with more ideas.
Awesome!!! I'm so glad I could inspire you. Thanks for watching.
Another excellent video. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching 😁
Gluing paper straws to cardboard also make a nice texture plate.
Hi Susan, great idea! Thanks for watching.
Love these, great tips and ideas - very helpful! You sell yourself short, your designs are well conceived and pleasingly graphic (just enough wonk to be visually appealing 😉).
Thanks so much! That means a lot ❤️
I’ve been searching for this video, heard you say sometime that you’d done this. It’s a great way to choose exactly the shapes you want. Really like what you did on the little books, you’ve inspired me to make some. Thanks for another interesting video! 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Fun video! I liked your different textures and seeing the layering.
Great idea, thanks for sharing with us!
You are so welcome!
Love the stamps! Gelli printing is addictive!
So addictive 😂 Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing this! Love gel printing! ❤
Eddie, where would I find the plexiglass to go under my gel press and what size should I get for my 5x7?
Your designs are really cool, Eddie. Time for me to make use of my Speedy-Cut Easy, pieces(by Speedball company)

Thank you Sabine! Yes, play and make a mess!!
This might seem a strange question, but what do you put in a junk journal? Cards, postcards, booklets, bands, envelopes, pockets, tags int the pages and what else? 😮
Great question. You can put whatever you want in a junk journal. Old documents, tags, images from books.magazines, It's one of those things that really doesn't have rules. It's why I like making them.
