    He's a quite a handsome charming chap😄
I was standing in my backyard, 3rd January 2021, when a wild adolescent spotted dove flew on top of my head. Instant bond😍. Possibly hand reared from someone as it has no fear of me or my hand or sitting on my head/shoulder. Kipper's spotted necklace has only just started to show couple of spots a few days ago. Not sure if male or female. Very affectionate. Intelligent too. Not cooing but is interested in odd bits of twigs and bits in the backyard at the moment. Think it's mating season here in Adelaide. Kipper is not interested in other wild doves and shyly moves away from them when they gather to eat feed on the lwan. As a pensioner, I'm able to spend all day outside with her and at night she sleeps under the veranda. I also have a cat who is well aware of Kippers presence which is a mighty stress so I keep him inside most of the day. How does a human teach a young wild dove of the dangers that lurk and teach it to be a dove?

Thank you for keeping your cat indoors!
Once a bird has imprinted on humans it is pretty much impossible to have them learn what they missed from their patents growing up.
They were self-rescuing when they landed on your head!
Finding someone who is willing to give them an indoor home is the best way to look after this tame young one.
Keep in mind, they can easily live to thirty years old in captivity.
Pigeonrescue.org a US based charity has a wealth of information.

Spotted doves seem to have an "in-your-face" sort of coo. It doesn't sound good at first, but it has grown on me since.

Would he accept a female if you brought him one? I rescued a male laughing dove. He acts just like yours and I wonder if he'll be happier with a female dove in our house.

He thinks that I am his mate, so ignores other doves.
I'd like to get a female rescue dove so he has company, but haven't found one yet.

How do you manage its poop💩. I mean is it trained to poop in certain place or birds can not be trained for that ⁉️

His poop is generally quite small and easy to clean up.
You can train them to wear pigeon pants that catch the poop when they're out of their cage.

Did you had to tame him or you had him when he's a baby?

I've had him since a baby. With patience, you can tame adults as well.

I'm on the lookout for another rescue spotted dove so he'll have company when I'm away from home.

Spotted Doves were introduced about 150 years ago. They are not native animals here (which is why he wasn't released when he was old enough to fend for himself).
