I was too young to sit there and be like "well these graphics don't look that good" or complain about the control scheme. I just loved the cartoon and so wanted to play the game. I found it really hard to get very far though a couple times a day for one summer I would have a go at it and get a little further each time. I just loved turning from animal into robot tbh but I have fond memories of my grandmother looking after me in the summer holidays and I sat at the dining room table playing that game. So yes its a terrible game but I have a soft spot for it.

I'm pretty sure I was the only one who even knew what he was talking about. It was probably his peak college experience. It was at that moment that I truly understood the level of cringe dork I had for a teacher. Years later the movie 'Grandma's Boy' came out and I questioned if they had plagiarized his likeness for the JP character

The interesting thing about Rush Hour is that it has a very similar "helicopter view"-type camera angle to the recent indie racing game Art of Rally, which was quite well received for its stylized minimalist art style. In 1997, though, the helicopter view was used probably because it was a game made on a limited budget and having a zoomed out view meant that they didn't need to put nearly as much detail or polygons on the cars though I still find the perspective in Rush Hour a bit appealing in that it makes it seem like its a game where you're racing radio-controlled MicroMachines, like a next-generation version of Codemasters' 2D MicroMachines games from the 8-bit and 16-bit eras.

    • @DilRyeMaster
      @DilRyeMaster 3 года назад +1

I absolutely adored Rush Hour back in the day!
In a pre-Gran Turismo world it was awesome seeing licensed cars, and on a 20” CRT the lack of detail on the models didn’t seem to bother me one bit. The helicopter view was practically cinematic in those days.
Replaying it nowadays I can see why it was never a big hit. Still, I gotta hand it to the developers. They made something unique and fun despite not being able to go head-to-head with the likes of Ridge Racer, Daytona USA etc...

I think the problem with many games from this time period is that the aggregate scores don't take into account the magazines of the time which were by far much more varied in their scoring of certain games back then. Especially some on the magazines that only catered to a single platform frequently giving higher scores to platform exclusives to make them seem amazing.

War Gods wasn't that bad of a fighter. I actually enjoyed it. The game was meant to be a test for the 3D transition of Mortal Kombat 4. And yes, War Gods was made by Midway. Frogger was definitely tough as nails but not a terrible game. Another enjoyable game in my book. The sequel was definitely better. Clayfighter 63 1/3 wasn't bad either. It's a fighting series you don't take seriously. I loved the nods to other fighting games in this one. For example, they reference Killer Instinct when they jokingly insult your combos with funny names like Little Girly combo, lol. Claytalities, obviously referencing Mortal Kombat's Fatalities, and Street Fighter's Hyper Combo system. Plus, it's the first fighting game to ever have Earthworm freakin' Jim. Crypt Killer has a special place in my heart. I remember playing this back in the day at the New York New York arcade in Las Vegas. The enemies in the game looked so damn creepy thanks to the graphics. Especially, the bad ending where you see all the bosses and they kill you at the end. It was such a campy and fun light gun game. Don't really understand the hate for these games but then again I don't care about other people's opinions.

I loved the PS1 frogger and the PS1 Q-Bert. I had no idea that it was so hated by critics. I still love it though

That Beastwars game had potential. With the right team I think a remaster would be badass

My mom refused to buy me computer games for about 4 years after she played frogger. Looking back I’m kind of proud of her.

I didn't have many games for the PSone or N64 and yet somehow I had both Frogger and Superman 64. Also this weird cowboy game that no one seems to know exists called Lucky Luke

Has anyone been like “I really wanted to like Spawn: The Eternal? I mean it’s part fighting game part adventure game and it’s made by Sony themselves! What could go wrong?? Oh right, right.”

Some of the highest scores yet in this year. I quite enjoyed Frogger on PS1, it was indeed hard and had blah controls though

My best friend had Masters of Teras Kasi when we were growing up, and I unironically enjoy the game to this day.

I liked VMX. You could play with 4 players (all the n64 plugs in), and it was a challenging local multiplayer experience.

Before I even watch this, i know its coming, Clayfighter, and same with other versions, IT WAS AN EXTREMELY POPULAR GAME! It sold well, and that makes up for a silly rankings system made on opinions by people who arguably aren't even fully qualified and unbiased. Game magazines are notorious for being biased with their ratings... we all know some of the bullshit and scandal thats come from that particular area.

    Haa!
We had Caesar's Palace on SNES when i was young, it was my Mom's favorite game along with Super Bass Masters 🤦‍♂️ to be fair she graduated High School in 1974 so her video game experiences had stopped at Pac-Man, Space Invaders, etc.... Thankfully i had much better games for myself to enjoy 😅 the two of us would play Tetris Attack (with the Yoshi Island characters) and that's still one of my favorite games to this day.
    😄👍

I actually used Masters of Teras Kasi as my Independence exploit disc on my PS2, before Free McBoot came along.
It may be the only time that game was actually useful.

I had no problem playing PS1 Frogger and managed to finish all but 2 levels. Of course the game is hard! It's not supposed to be easy. It was helluva lot of fun!

War Gods was a game designed as a prototype, meant to test the engine used for MK4.
    ...a game that ALSO stunk.
