Carol Burnett is a goddess and a legend. She certainly helped pave the way for female actresses/comedians in Hollywood. Without Carol (and few others), we probably wouldn't have a Kristen Wiig. Looking forward to seeing "Palm Royale".

Carol Burnett and her grandmother used to go to my father's restaurant, Joe's Little Italy, on Cahuenga between Selma and Sunset, my mother was the cashier/hostess, and my mother would always tell me about Carol Burnett, like when she ran into her when she was an usher at a theater on Hollywood Blvd. I attended Selma Avenue School in the 4th grade (1954) and Carol Burnett's sister Christine was in my class. I've often wondered is it was my mother who sent the fifty dollar bill. If Ms. B or her grandmother had said something, I can see my mother doing something about that tuition money! We'll never know, my mother passed in 1986.

What a lovely, and respectful interview... I hate to disagree with Carol though... Yes, there was Lucy... but if there hadn't been a Carol who carried the torch... well, we all know she really is a living legend and I'm sooo glad she is still doing her (amazing) thing! Thank you for being a large part of my childhood. Grateful for the Carol Burnett Show years! (and she's being so Carol, in Palm Royale).

I agree. I was literally thrilled when I saw her in Palm Royale. She had a scene in which she didn't say a word, and I thought it was hilarious! It made me so happy to see her and to know that she is still as she has always been, and hasn't missed a beat. I love her as I love my own mother. :)

Carol Burnett saying that if she'd never been born, they'd (Kristin Wiig and others) would be doing exactly what they are doing. It is always an inspiration to see those that came before you. That is where the spark of desire is born. She paved the way for them, as other did for her.

Carol is an icon I’ve enjoyed watching my whole life. But I have to add that I adore. He’s the best interviewer I’ve ever watched. He is so friendly to whoever he interviews and you can truly see that it’s the same to whoever he’s talking to. They always seem to look excited for whatever question comes next. Unlike some interviewers who can’t keep their interest and you can see their impatience with the questioner. Carol really seemed to enjoy talking to Tom

    Just three random thoughts:
    1. How can you be so iconic and yet so adorably approachable and humble! Pure class!
    2. This woman's life needs to be made into a motion picture biopic pronto. Why wait until she's no longer around? They did it for Elton John, etc., so get on it, Hollywood!
    3. Good Lord, she looks so amazingly good and natural for being in her 90s. Whatever work she's had done (if any) is totally undetectable. Take a lesson, ladies.. this is how it's done if you wish to age gracefully, effortlessly and with class. She still has such a fun, youthful vibe too. When I look at her, I just see a vibrant woman in her 70s, tops. She's just ageless.

What a gift she has been. I'm just checking out PALM ROYALE, and it immediately reminds me of the silly over the top satire that Burnett did in the FRESNO miniseries parody of shows like DALLAS. I don't think FRESNO gets the respect it deserves.
