There are plenty of ways to wire up conventional relay/switch setups that are just as clean as a switch pro. Not to mention way easier to fix if something goes wrong. If that switch pod craps out, you lose everything tied to it. New tech is great until it doesnt work anymore. Some things I like to keep simple.
Simple? Switch, fuse, relay and all the connections to make it work for one accessory vs one wire? Also if this does crap out. Just connect the wire to battery if you are really in deep trouble.
For the price of the Gladiator one could build or have built one heck of a old school K5 and never have the sensor and electrical gremlins of the new ......t that can stop one dead...and guess what one will turn more heads.....
agreed, but not everyone has the time or understanding truly of what they want. I tell ya, I could start a build consulting business for the amount of people that I help in rough designs of their builds. There are a lot of dudes out there who know what they want the vehicle to do, but have no idea how to build it etc.
that said, I'm gonna make my Burb pretty much the EMP proof machine as much as I can. I may not have headlights after the blast but my 5.9 will be chugging
@@MerricksGarage Yah I'm leaning on a 12v Burb build myself as the absolute survival mad max overlander vehicle hahaa....meantime I keep accumulating these darn K5's and got to get one('91 on ton's) if not 2 (6.2 Diesel 3/4 ton)built this winter(have 4 of them and can make 2 to go with my running stock '90 plus a square cab only with the 5th frame). Then save the 12v for a burb build. Oh I don't think any of us know what we want...we just dive in and start augering ourselves into the rabbit hole and see where it goes...tell yah it is one heck of a fun journey really....just look at the road you have been on since buying your K5.
Should be universal. I have something like it. It should have its own fues and relay box pre wired. All you have to do is run a small harness to the key pad inside, give the aux box power and ground and start hooking up accessories. No need to use the relays sent with whatever accessorie you bought just hook it up to the output of your choosing and give it a ground.
yea man, its awesome. I have the big brother of this one in my Blazer and it is awesome. The box under the hood is a fully sealed solid state unit that instead of relays and fuses uses semiconductors called MosFets. Thats about my limit but they are load sensing and voltage variances enable them to act like resettable fuses but on small scale. Very, very cool.
Yeah that's a pretty sick unit
Great job,
Great video as always @Merricks Garage
as long as you don’t release the magic blue smoke, everything else is gravy.
