    A review of the rather marvellous @Analogue Solutions Fusebox X. Big updates are Poly Mode and the sequencer - plus there are lots of other minor changes. Compared with my original version, plus some sound demos.

I've been looking for a cool, standalone setup that I can jam with using minimal external sequencing or playing the keys myself (I'm a guitar player) and this one seems to fit the bill. Currently sitting here waiting for delivery later today. 🙂 It was mostly this presentation that sold it to me, giving me some real insight on how practical and versatile this thing is and demonstrating how it has a really nice warmth to its beeps and boops. For the most part it will serve as a replacement for a 🎄 and decoration though, I ordered the seasonally fitting cables too! Great job! 😋Also, Merry Christmas!

      @@StarskyCarr Don't worry, it's all good! Well, the tuner tone is somewhere between F and F# and all of the pots have a lot of play and don't feel exactly like quality parts but I expected at least the latter. 😀 However, it's the amount of "unexpected" that makes it great anyway. The parallel/nested sequencing bits might be good for a lot of inspiring surprises:
      Check this out (8 really stupid MIDI notes turned into something completely unexpected by this weird machine, trying to become familiar with its bits), particularly at the 1:20 mark, when I just switch the filter and the EG2 trigger source and the patch does something entirely different and changes its pace. ruclips.net/video/Un7bG_4ebmk/видео.html

    • @StarskyCarr
      @StarskyCarr  Год назад

      @@gerdpfeil Thats a relief!! And that bit at 1:20 is amazing :0 But yeah a completely different feel - that'll be because its triggering more quickly so not opening the filter through the attack curve or something just as unexpected. And that's why I love it.

    Fusebox X vs Leipzig 3? Are they two different beasts with different sound signature? Or Fusebox X is Leipzig 3 "Pro"?
    If money is not an issue which one?

    • @StarskyCarr
      @StarskyCarr  2 года назад +2

      They're different synths - one has a 24db 2 voice architecture the other 3 voice with 12dB SEM style. If money's no object the Fusebox takes it. It's more flexible all round with its semi modular structure and the ability to interface with other kit. Add to that the patternator etc its got more to keep you experimenting

    • @ImInTheDarkHere
      @ImInTheDarkHere 2 года назад +1

      @@StarskyCarr Thank you so much. Yes spec wise Fusebox looks superior. I also really like raw Leipzig 3 sound, not sure if its possible to get the same out of Fusebox...
      It could also be, that this opinion of mine is just based on the fact that no demo of both synths in RUclips are the same and I just happened to like partcular style of a certain demo / artist more. So I am questioning myself as I am worried I may be listening to the partcular style. I know a powerful device is capable of enormous amount of sounds, also different vendors may have their own unique sound signature. My “logic” says that within the same vendor, difference may not be so dramatic as the components and knowledege used to build the device often comes from the same source. For instance take an iPhone. The higher you go, the more features you get and it ends up deciding whether or not these features are important to you to justify the cost, so its easy. In particular case I am worried as it is not so easy comparsion for me, I understand I win something going Fusebox, but what do I lose? The goal is brutal sounds for some aggressive outcome but I don't mind larger variety of possibilities, atm narrowed it down to AS. Not buying a synth to save money either, the main question is if Fusebox X has pretty much everything Leipzig 3 has + more? I know you already answered and I appreciate that a lot. Imagine if a skilled artist owns both, creates something on Leipzig, in most cases would he/she be able to replicate that also on Fusebox?
