You're one of the best parent I've seen, you seem to have a very close bond with your kid and you don't always showcase him in all your videos to protect his privacy. I applaud your good parenting skills.
Unlike India and Vietnam, China was not colonized as a whole, especially by the Anglo-Saxons. However, one could not ignore the "foreign quarters" that existed in China's major cities, such as Shanghai, Qingdao, Canton, Wuhan. Hong Kong is of course the famous outcome of the Opium War. Wherever the colonial forces went, the Christian missionaries were the advance team to scout out local information, in conjunction with their religious conversion effort.
It is not surprising why Christmas is a big deal in Hong Kong but not elsewhere in China. As a tourist to Hong Kong, one icon is ubiquitous and unavoidable: the Christian Cross on buildings such as schools and churches. They are everywhere and very much unique to Hong Kong SAR, formerly under British colonial rule (1841-1997). No city in mainland China, no city in the Taiwan province, or Macao SAR, share this widespread imprint of Christianity. BTW: The 2019 riots in Hong Kong were supported by many christian churches and their affiliated schools. Ideology infiltration goes with the Colour Revolution.
Not gonna lie but Im glad China kept its cultural tradition and not necessarily follow US holiday. Have you even seen some Japanese and EU starting to celebrate Halloween?! Since when does Japan celebrate Halloween with zero relation at all.
It used to be a big deal. It has sort of gone away since Jews don't allow celebration of Christmas. Hong Kong and big cities just look at it as another opportunity for selling gifts. I thought most light shows have gone away. Good to see they are coming back.
There are around 100 million Christians in China. More than most European countries. China is more diverse than HK. HK Christmas is commercialised, and western influenced. HK people have lost their culture.
HK is a SAR, it has its SAR culture, parts of it carried over from the Brit colonial days(1841-1997). HK as a city, a SAR, does possess its unique culture, e.g. speaking Cantonese and writing traditional fanti Chinese are still dominant. Culture is always evolving, never frozen. More recently Hong Kong people travelling north to Shenzhen for weekends is a new feature of HK culture.
Wow, 14 minutes is impressive. Thanks for sharing the video Rafael.
Glad you liked it!

Because the PRC was never colon-nised by the Anglo-Saxons.
So Western traditions are not Chinese traditions

Hong Kong has 5 general/bank holidays relating to Christians per year. That is more than most Christian majority jurisdictions in the world.
It is great that Mainland China continues to allow Hong Kong to still have all their western holidays like Christmas and Easter.
