I would definitely say it's a good option for international students! OSU is a big hub for international students, I'm not exactly sure about easy since that is relative to everyone, but it's of course doable since we have so many international students here!
Hi! I just wanted to mention for anyone going to Ohio State, I HIGHLY suggest participating in the OWL program your first year. I moved in the Thursday before everyone else moved in. It only requires two days(ish) of training/activities and then move-in day! It was definitely worth it and you are grouped with other people in your building so it is an awesome way to make friends. Not to mention that you will most likely be able to move in before your roommate and get first pick on what side of the room you want!
@@perezch49 My roommate did the Fisher First program and LOVED it. She got to move in a whole week early and participated in so many fun activities! I say tell him to go for it!
Love this video! I was part of the scholars and loved it. It connects you to so many research, networking, and event opportunities on campus it’s hard to find in such a big school. You also befriend like-minded people and they live next to you!
I’m gonna be a freshman at OSU this year and the fact that we can’t have in person orientation has been really stressing me out, so thank you so much for making videos like this. much love💕
I'm going to be a junior at OSU so I have no idea why I'm watching this other than I really miss school and this makes me feel better. Side note keep up the good work on these videos! This is very well done and useful for incoming students especially now. 10/10 quality. :)
Started my freshman year in 1968. Lived in Siebert, room 100, that room on the end next to the breezeway. I, too, moved to Taylor my sophomore year but only for one quarter. Moved back to room 100 for the next two quarters. When did I get so old?!?!
awww I lived in room 706 at Siebert!!! My boyfriend and I both lived there our freshman year and that's where we met 💞 gotta love siebert!! that's so weird we lived in the same places!!!
videos are one thing, being student there is another, I was there 74-80, lots of people I knew lasted less than 2 yrs., it was a different school then, they tried to get rid of ppl. as fast as possible
Thank you so much! I'm looking into applying to OSU because they have a really strong program for my major, and this is so helpful to have as a resource!
I enjoyed this video! So nostalgic 😬 seeing it as I graduated undergrad 19 years ago....WHOA!!! 😱 OSU is FREAKING HUGE...I went to a smaller HBCU in Virginia 🧡💙 GO VSU TROJANS!!!
this is still SO helpful!! i got accepted in december and i just got the morrill scholarship so i'm definitely going to osu :) thank u so much for this video!!
I was in Park Hall 6 quarters, 2 yrs. 74-77 on and off, wouldn't do it again, did meet some good guys, but dorms are noisy, riding elevator up to 10th floor or 11th floor gets old really fast
honestly, I have thought about it because I feel like that would be AWESOME for me lol. but I haven't seen many jobs on it yet :/ I know a lot of universities are on a hiring freeze because of Covid so I don't know if I'll be able to find something during all of this.
Great video! I am going to be a freshman at OSU during the 2021-2022 academic year and I just got accepted into a learning community (engineering house LC). I was wondering how much did being in a learning community enhance your freshman year?
I love the concept of it, it helps to make friends and have a sense of community, but me personally, I didn't KEEP any friends after my first year. but it was good to make me feel more comfortable going into college as a first year! but everyone's experiences are different! :)
Definitely isn’t going to Ohio State University BUT loves Marissa’s energy and is going to college this fall SO clicks Ohio State University video anyways😂😂... love you Marissa❤️
When I attended OSU around 2000ish the house plan for cafeteria didn't roll over to the next year if you didn't use them all. So many of students just bought useless stuff like bunch of gatorade drinks, bunch of chips, ramen etc. but it was good time i guess.
My son just found out today he got into Ohio State. We weren’t able to tour so now we are scrambling to find out as much information about the school as possible. Are all the classes located in one area? He is a government major. If so have far would North campus be from the classes and how would South be? Is it a bus ride or walking distance? Also I would like him to be with freshman or mostly freshman. Thanks so much, I think your channel will be very helpful, especially since we weren’t able to make the trip.
It definitely depends on the classes he'll take, classes can be located all over campus! Typically I see those kinds of classes being held around the Oval and somewhat on South campus, but they can be anywhere! :) There are multiple busses and bus routes to take around campus, so he can get from one side of campus to the other that way or by walking of course! Busses are faster if it's from one side of campus to the other, but if it's all within the middle of campus, walking is easier as the bus routes go in a loop AROUND campus and not inside of campus. You can see the bus routes through the OSU app if yall haven't downloaded it yet :) The only freshman dorm on campus is Siebert Hall, but most dorms will only have 1st and 2nd years, but Siebert is the only dorm with ONLY 1st years, so that may be a great option for him! I have an entire playlist on my channel for OSU related things and another for college related things in general that I hope is super helpful for yall!! 💗 Congrats on getting admitted GO BUCKS!
@@MyDriftingDesk thanks so much, I’m just in the middle of watching all the videos to get enough information about Ohio State. Appreciate you getting back to me.
Hi, your video is super super helpful and I appreciate you taking the time to help out the younger generation. But I do have a question…You mentioned an Admission fee of $100 and a housing fee of $350. What if I got a scholarship for OSU, would the scholarship cover those fees? And do they have a few different financial aids that would?
Hey there! I'm not entirely sure anymore, since this video was a few years ago and I'm not sure if anything has changed since Covid, etc. BUT, I know there are PLENTY of grants & scholarships available in general. I would recommend taking a peek at the financial aid website or giving them a call just to see if anything from this video has changed. :)
Being stuck in Morrill Tower with 2drunks and 1 guy on drugs was awful. But at least the guy on drugs wasn’t around most of the time. I definitely saw him 3 times for the 2 quarters I was there.
I'm not sure how housing has changed with Covid and the amount of students they can have in the dorms at one time or in specific buildings. so with that I am not sure. I would contact housing.osu.edu for changes with Covid! When I was there, and without Covid, you could live there whenever you want, but the rules have changed I know that.
Me watching this knowing full well im never going to osu: 👁👄👁 I was part of a learning community this year for music and it was great since there were practice rooms and lots of people you could ask for help and they understand your problems!
Hi so do you have to share the restroom with 2 or 3 roommates or just your 1 room mats and yourself. Also how is knowing people/ students is it to many people to know by just class is college really that big?
Different dorms do bathrooms differently. I listed all of the dorms at the end of the video along with their style of bathroom, some you share with just your roommates and others are on your floor that you share with everyone on your floor. Ohio State is a big school but you get to know people from living in the dorms, from classes, and mostly from joining clubs/organizations!
I actually work at the University Honors and Scholars center, but you are eligible to apply! You would actually apply through your college of enrollment as our office typically handles incoming students, but your advisor should be able to provide you with more info!
Please answer this.. I am applying to come in this year as a pre law student for my major. But I don't know how the diversity is and that is my biggest fears.
diversity within the pre law major or within the school?? I never personally really did anything within pre law myself so I can't speak on that, but OSU is definitely diverse. But that doesn't mean they're politically correct all the time and unproblematic in some cases. but there are definitely a lot of different people here and you can always find your niche or group of people by joining clubs and orgs!
I'm from the UK and there's definitely a lot of people who live off campus even in the first year, a lot of Universities don't even have enough housing for first year students so it seems crazy that you have to live on campus for 2 years!
Until around 2013 or so, before they built or expanded a lot of dorms, it was just a 1 year requirement. And remember that until the mid-2000's, this was the most populous campus in America and it's still one of the most populous.
So I have a gpa in the 3.6 range and I have not taken the act or sat yet. I am the Vice President for my Red Cross club, and I have over 20 hours of service there, I am a member of NAHS and I have over 150 hours of volunteering out of school that I was really passionate about. I’ve been painting for 7 years now as well and love doing it. What act score would I have to get for a better chance to getting accepted? Also if that score is on the lower side what are my chances without it?
I would recommend watching this video on how to get accepted into OSU guaranteed: ruclips.net/video/eKtyxbTGUio/видео.html and if you have any other questions or clarification, I would call OSU admissions! :)
Hi!! Does almost everyone who applies to a learning community (I applied for engineering) get into one? Also can I join Honors even thought I didn’t initially apply?
I can't say guaranteed, but Learning Communities definitely have a higher acceptance rate (depending on which one) housing.osu.edu/learning-communities/ - here is their website for more info :) also here is the website for Honors and their application - honors-scholars.osu.edu/honors
If I accept admission into the honors program, am I required to live in one of the honors halls or can I choose to maybe room with someone who isn't in the honors program?
^ correct! When I lived at Taylor Tower my 2nd year at OSU I wasn't an Honors student, so it can house non-honors folks. but definitely all the honors folks are in there.
I never moved in last year bc my classes were all online due to COVID. I had to redo my housing contract. There wasn’t an option to chose residence halls so am I forced to stay in the ones I chose freshman year? That would be awful bc I had to be in Baker for my scholars 😂
It's basically like a lottery system, you register, get a number, when it's your turn you select your top 3 choices and then based on availability you get assigned to a dorm :)
Everyone I have personally talked to that has lived in Morrill has LOVED IT, the only downside is the distance you are from a lot of things but people who actually live there LOVE living there. Typically people who haven't lived there talk a lot about how it sucks because the thought of it does sound awful, but once people live there they end up loving it. Its such a small knit community and everyone is friendly and you have so much fun with your roommates and floormates. :)
I know this is 4 years too late, but yes Morrill is as bad as they say. I remember freshman orientation held over on west campus years ago, seeing those towers and mentioning how I would like to live in them. Some guy with a beard told me not to. I should have listened to him. This girl probably did not talk to a big sample of people.
that's totally up to YOU and what you are wanting out of your experience!!! honors may matter for a more science related field to graduate with honors and the research honors distinction, but if you're looking for community value and outside the classroom work scholars would be best!
What do you recommend about scholarships or to a 11th grader going into 12grader wanting to attend Ohio state. When is a good time to put in a application I graduate 2021. Please help
I've been stressing over choosing between my LC and my scholars program these past three weeks. In the end I chose my LC but I'm nervous I should have stuck with the scholars bc I know you can only join your freshmen year :// Hopefully it works out but I hope I don't regret it..
It depends, there is usually graduate housing that is separate, but it has been done before. but I would contact OSU Housing for specifics, especially with covid and how they're doing rooms and stuff now.
It depends on the dorm you live in and what room styles they offer and then it depends on when you pay your acceptance fee and when you fill out your housing application and pay your reservation fee, the sooner the better for getting the room you want! :)
HAHAHAH go through recruitment and rush!!! At OSU at least recruitment for frats and sororities happen in January time, so your freshman year look out for sign ups in the fall for sororities and follow all their social media, and follow all the frats social media because they'll be posting their recruitment schedule too and then you just go to the events and rush! :)
there is no dorm on OSU's campus that will put a boy and a girl in the same room together. there are floors that are mixed gendered, or floors that are gender specific, but all the individual rooms/dorms are gender specific.
I hope this video was super helpful for yall!! Check the description box for the different websites OSU has more for information if you want it!! Let me know if yall have any other questions or things I didn't address in this video! GO BUCKS!

It's basically like a lottery system, you register, get a number, when it's your turn you select your top 3 choices and then based on availability you get assigned to a dorm :)
Were you a Ohio resident, or did you come from out of state?
I am in state!
Is Morrill Tower as bad as they say? I have to live in there because of MMC Scholars
So what is better Honors or Scholars?
that's totally up to YOU and what you are wanting out of your experience!!! honors may matter for a more science related field to graduate with honors and the research honors distinction, but if you're looking for community value and outside the classroom work scholars would be best!
What do you recommend about scholarships or to a 11th grader going into 12grader wanting to attend Ohio state. When is a good time to put in a application I graduate 2021. Please help
I would recommend applying to Ohio State before Novemeber 1st of your senior year so you can be eligible for OSU's scholarships!
Looking at going to OSU Fall of 21 as an ag major. What dorm would you suggest for that?
as far north and as far west as you can go!!! that way you are closer to AG campus!!!
Dorm? Don’t they have a barn for AG majors?
What about if I choose to live outside on my own?! For a masters degree
You can do that!! Dorm life is only required for undergrad first and second years.

Thanks
I've been stressing over choosing between my LC and my scholars program these past three weeks. In the end I chose my LC but I'm nervous I should have stuck with the scholars bc I know you can only join your freshmen year :// Hopefully it works out but I hope I don't regret it..
honestly, whatever decision you made is the correct one because YOU made it and for a reason. make the most of it and it'll be worth it! 💕
@@MyDriftingDesk Thank youu!! ❤️❤️
Hi, Marrisa, are the graduate international students allowed to rent rooms in these dorms?
It depends, there is usually graduate housing that is separate, but it has been done before. but I would contact OSU Housing for specifics, especially with covid and how they're doing rooms and stuff now.
@@MyDriftingDesk Thank you!
im an incoming freshman. What is the best way to find out roommates?
join your graduating class' Facebook page! :)
Do you know the dates for class registration?
Incoming students schedule classes with their academic advisors at orientation!
Do freshman in honors usually get quads? Or can they get doubles
It depends on the dorm you live in and what room styles they offer and then it depends on when you pay your acceptance fee and when you fill out your housing application and pay your reservation fee, the sooner the better for getting the room you want! :)
I love it
thanks so much!
How do i join Greek life so i can skip the requirement for second year lol I’m not tryna die from the COVID
Are boys and girls dorms separate?
No! Every dorm is coed dorm buildings, however rooms are one gendered so you won't be living directly with someone from the opposite in your room.
Are dorm spread for female and male ?
there is no dorm on OSU's campus that will put a boy and a girl in the same room together. there are floors that are mixed gendered, or floors that are gender specific, but all the individual rooms/dorms are gender specific.
Is Haverfield still male only?
It is not! It is co-ed now 👍🏼
What if you're married??????
There are special housing arrangements for families!!! I would contact osu housing for more information on those :)
@@MyDriftingDesk Thank you
