I’m happy to hear about your son! My children and I all live within a couple of miles of each other, and I am grateful every day to have them close. And it feels good to see them happy and successful. I’m glad things have worked out well for your son, and I wish him more happiness and success.
I pray that you and Susie are safe from the effects of the hurricane. I'm sure that with your gear and extreme knowledge, you'll come out on top. God's blessings always.
Congratulations to your son! I retired as a Biomedical Electronic Technician about 8 years ago. It's not a job, it really is an adventure! 😆 Hope y'all survived the Helene experience, my family lives in the Canton Clyde Waynesville are mostly. They are all alive and I am soon to be a grand uncle! She was airlifted away from her home.
Hi Luke just to give you some peace of mind. I have worked in an urgent care centre for 17 years I am in my 60’s. You do build up some resilience over time to all these virus illnesses. Hope your son soon is top top and that you all stay safe 😊
Oh man!! That job was surely meant to be for your son!! Congrats!! Gonna be nice having him close .!! 😊😊😊and Luke... It doesn't matter how old they get you see them as kids !! Worry doesn't go away ! It does become more complex worry lol and pricey! But it never stops!! My eldest is 39. As of July! I can't even believe it!! Its been amazing being a mom to our seven kids!! Congrats again!!
Hello, sir! Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your videos. I am not an outdoorsman by any stretch of the imagination--for me, roughing it means not having a wifi signal. You make it look enjoyable, and I appreciate the level of preparation you put into your planning. No sensationalism, no "haunted woods" nonsense. Also, you seem like a cool, calm. laidback guy who I'd like to have a beer with. Keep up the good work. Also, that coffee looks damn good.
Hello Luke. I am so happy for your son and ultimately for you and Suzy. Every parent wants their children to do well in life. I have missed seeing Suzy. Wish her well. The rain is always such a soothing sound.
I had two of my three kids decide on their own to go into the military, and the other one went into cosmetology through an apprenticeship. I paid nothing for college/"higher" education because they found a way on their own. Congrats!!! To him and to you. Prayers for continued success and blessings beyond reason.
That is such great news about your son Lucas. You know you've been watching a channel for quite some time when you see their kids grow up. I remember when Lucas joined you and your brother on the cross country adventure. Now he's a grown man. Too much. Big Congratulations to him on finding his passion in life🙏🏼
Wonderful news on your son. I'm glad you and Susie are safe. Prayers for your neighbors, your neighborhood and all areas that have been devastated by Helena. ❤️💔🙏
Stoked about Lukas' opportunity. You and Suzie must be over the moon and having close by is a bonus and the educational benefit is awesome. Congrats to him and you all!!
My grandfather could go out on the porch, breathe in and tell you what the weather was going to be like for the day. Even if there was clear skies he would tell us to help him to get everything ready for a bad storm and we would. As soon as we were done here comes the storm.
Oh thank Goodness you are safe. Have been so worried. So praying for all who are affected by this terrible storm. Keep safe everyone. Sending love and best wishes from New Zealand.
You are absolutely correct about yellow jackets. I like them around because they keep my pecan tree free of web worms. When the first pump sprayers came a out, and people killed them this was when the webworm problem in Texas got out of control. Staying calm and not being aggressive towards them avoids most stings.
Its such a blessing when your children find their passion and opportunities to fulfill their dreams. And it doesnt hurt when the company offers to pay for their education. Yahoo!
My wife and I were out in our back yard one day. She had a bottle, either a soft drink or a beer, don't recall which, but the bottle was dark glass. Apparently a yellow jacket landed on it and fell in, because at one point she took a drink and it ended up inside her mouth, where it stung her. I made some wood pieces which we stick in the tops of our bottles now. Basically gravity caps to block the bugs (any kind :)
My mom was stung by a hornet in the same way, she was a mess; no one ever drinks in my family without looking inside the glass, cup or bottle…..we are all paranoid!🐝😱
If in drinking from a can I usually put a quarter over the hole, it works pretty well, I started using coins after the exact thing happened to a coworker.
I instinctively want to worry about Luke....but I'm fully aware that not only is he and Susie okay...I'd bet my left foot they are out there helping others. Be safe you two 🙏
We have at least 3 nests that I’ve found so far so we will see what winter brings. I had a bad feeling before Helene arrived because of all the rain we had before her but I never dreamed it would be this bad. Prayers and love for all those in her path
Keep up the good work, brother I like your videos, the pace that you speak at is perfect and your commentary and information you reveal is good and relative to your videos. Nowadays, we need more people like you on RUclips to just take it easy and be informative. I really like it..
I personally love the coziness of the "Cabin". You can be right out there in nature with the added benefit of getting out of the "nasty" stuff whenever you chose. Best of both worlds! 👍 🕯
Concerning food American sailors love Tobasco pepper sauce from good old Avery Island Louisiana USA. One time our ship USS Galveston CLG-3 hit a typhoon in the pacific and some dumb OD turned the ship sideways to a huge wave and the ship took a 30 degree starboard roll and the Tobasco bottles flew over the fiddles on the mess deck and the call went out, “never mind the salt and paper shakers, save the Tobasco bottles!”
It’s funny that you brought up your kids. I have a son I try to guide him and help him when I told him that he should become a school teacher because he likes working with kids. He said no funny thing that’s exactly what he’s doing. He’s a Spanish teacher Something he didn’t wanna do my daughter. She wants to be a dentist surgeon. It’s amazing. We are getting old, but it’s wonderful. Watching our kids grow and become young adults.
Don't you just love the smell of the air up in the mountains first thing in the morning after a storm ? That's exactly why I live on one of the highest peaks in the area in VT. Life is good at the High Mountain Homestead !!
If ya wanna see a guy sit under a tarp in the rain, drink coffee, eat MRE’s, forecast the weather and say cheers! This is the channel for you. Lol good work Luke!
Your videos are awesome. Rain thunderstorms coffee and beautiful places. Amazing. We had a strong thunderstorm before 2 weeks in my village in Mediterranean that lasted for 5 hours and gave 50mm of rain. It was amazing because we don't get that much rain here in September. Also we had another heavy rain in the beginning of September! I think your videos make the rain come here also haha
Glad your safe. My home flooded during Helene. I wasn’t prepared for being without power for a week. I should’ve been getting supplies from your videos.
MEDICAL RESEARCH is awesome, I totally understand the excitement and Interest. I worked for the VA Hospital in Arizona in the Research Department for almost 15 years, it was the most rewarding Job I ever had. I miss it so much. 👍🏼
Jeez, Luke…. I’ve been so worried and you and your family. The devastation in your state is nearly incomprehensible… so happy to see you in one piece and doing what you love, please… continue to stay safe. I worry about continued trees upending, mud and landslides due to the saturated ground. But then again I can WORRY with the best of em😅 Hoping to sneak in at least one or 2 nights of camping here this month before I have to go under the knife. This is my favorite month to camp in the Northeast.
Luke made a post a few days ago that he had a couple videos ready to go already. He said Lone Wolf mountain took a heavy hit and he can’t go up there- roads are closed. His house had slight damage and not a lot of water but all around him got hit - no internet, no power. Doesn’t know when he’ll be able to film again
Love your channel. OGR. You help my mental health massively. Thank you. I always love watching your videos. Love the content. Always look forward to the next video. Much Love. Hope all is well.
I never was this early to a video.I just love your content and the way you do these adventures i have been a fan of yours for a few years now and it always motivates me to go into the outdoors myself
If this was made in Appalachia south of say Charlottesville Va, before Helena made her appearance, I hope you stayed safe during and after the deluge that is coming you way.
He made a post. I can't remember exactly what he said something like, They're OK, some damage at his home but he hadn't been able to get to Lone Wolf Mountain as the roads were totally impassable and he'd heard there was quite bad damage.
Parents hook their kids on it because it's a convenient dip for finger foods/snacks. Then those kids grow up thinking it should be used with everything. Most people use it sparingly, but you have a small and loud group that swear by it.
I agree. Luke just ruined a nice looking dinner of huge meatballs and pasta. Dump it outside and let the raccoons eat it. My sister dumps ranch in her pizza.
Good news to your son a similar thing happened to my brother here in the UK for work exp during his undergrad (BSC) company does tests for NHS and it's lead to his Masters and PHD. Wish I'd done something similarly applicable rather than my degree which burnt me out and left me working a job I could of had without it.
I was just thinking about you being allergic to bee 🐝 stings. Careful Luke! Love any video of thunderstorms. My favorite of all!!! I enjoy your stories especially ❤
Luke, it was nice to see you eating the meal of my people. Pasta and meat balls. That green salsa is called salsa verde I believe. I could be mistaken. But, I've never seen green Italian salsa? FYI, ranch dressing on pasta is sacreligous. Ricotta is the choice of Italian people usually. 😊 Great video. Really enjoyed it. Thanks for braving the storm. 😊
Love this video! Crickets, yellow jackets, pounding rain. Your skilled photography, and the appreciation of the storm. Thanks!

Nothing better than being in a safe shelter out in the woods during a good thunderstorm.
I pray that you and Susie are safe from the effects of the hurricane. I'm sure that with your gear and extreme knowledge, you'll come out on top. God's blessings always.
Homemade ranch is the only way to enjoy ranch.
You and Sue must be so proud of your son and awesome daughter. God bless all of you.

Prayers sent as ❤️🩹 well🙏🫡☯️
He's uploading videos, so thats a good sign.
They are safe. Area is devastated, road closed, lone wolf mountain inaccessible. They were hoping to get their water back maybe today...
Glad to hear they are ok@muriellejacobs3736

Congratulations to your son….And great parents! My son and daughter….similar stories! So proud!
Also, if you swat a Yellow Jacket, they release a phermone that tells other ones that they are being attacked, which increases their aggression level.
It is wonderful that your son has found an area of study that he loves!
