  • I've had this ship for ages in my personal account, but never got around to playing it, since I was still doing the battle honours on the Shchors, which was an excellent light cruiser at tier 7 - so let's see how she holds up at tier 8.

    Chappy is one of my favorite ships. With Soviet cruisers I go for double steering because the rudders suck. I remember when I first got a tier 7 or 8 ship the enemy Chapayevs were nightmares raining fire and brimstone down on me.

    • @FunandGameswithTerry
      @FunandGameswithTerry  Год назад +3

      I've been playing both German CAs and Soviet CLs with double steering traditionally as well. I've started switching into propulsion, since the improvement from the slot 2 module isn't that great, and propulsion _really_ helps in close-range engagements, as well as speed-dodging at long range.

    'Stop being afraid!' Terry, you are being extremely polite 😁
    And thats why I enjoy watching your videos. 😊👍
    Regarding the domination mode:
    I prefer domination mode too. Whether it was in world in conflict, world of tanks blitz, or wows blitz that is my most preferred mode. I really really wish that wg also put the mode filter button in the wows blitz which is by the way readily available there in the world of tanks blitz, that enables players to filter out game modes that they do not like to play at all.

      I've actually installed WotB, but haven't had time to practice there yet. I'm a bit apprehensive of starting on another game that needs a lot of time investment, that's what put me off MW as well. Maybe when the whole health situation has blown over.
      Domination has great potential for fluent and tactical gameplay. Epicentre and centre control force you into close-range engagements, which disadvantage ships that aren't designed for that. In domination or base cap, you can play a ship to its strength, and still take control of the match, instead of having to rely on your team to play their roles.

      @@FunandGameswithTerry very well articulated. In some game modes, even before the game itself start, just by comparing the given game mode to the ships lineups on both teams, keen observers can already deduct whether the game will likely be won or lost.

    I just wanted to know how she performs as a Firestarter ,post fire 🔥 chances reduction in previous game update. I also wanted to know if her extremely tight shell grouping has been reduced at all since then as well.

    • @FunandGameswithTerry
      @FunandGameswithTerry  Год назад +3

      Which update was that? I might have forgotten :) The last one I found was 4.3, where she traded a precise aim for the radar. She's got a 6% fire chance, the dispersion isn't the best out there, but the arcs are flat due to the fast shells, and with the PA active as well as the rate of fire, you'll get a lot of hits on target. They're both great ships, I'll need to test the Donskoi - initially put off by the drop in fire rate, but same fire chance, even though they're 180s, but never tried. Nevsky has been buffed recently as well AFAIR, so might be worth grinding.

    I had just bought it recently, but I'm still using Schors for grinding Talinn's exp first. Since I just got back to the game, I don't have another capt to use for Petro LOL I'll wait for the January patch first if there'll be buffs to Petro line. Resetting capts is too expensive.
    I really love CLs. I'm currently enjoying BBQing enemies, and I like it more than Worcester line due to slow shell arcs (currently in Cleveland), but I get similar DPGs since they play a bit differently just because of their guns.

    • @FunandGameswithTerry
      @FunandGameswithTerry  Год назад +1

      When you're playing the USN CL line, you'll need a game or two to "warm up", and adjust your aim with those floaty shells. My rule of thumb is "if I think I'm leading enough, lead about 50% more". But once you've got the aim set, they're very good ships. More utility, you can actively chase planes, the radar / sonar combo is deadly, and they can take more punishment than their Soviet counterparts.
      That said, sometimes you just need to see the world burn, and frustrate the heck out of enemy BBs :)

    • @IAmJadedJM
      @IAmJadedJM Год назад

      @@FunandGameswithTerry Yes I agree, I'm also doing your rule of thumb! Funny thing is, since I'm rush grinding both lines, switching ships to use is my routine. Sometimes I wonder midgame why my shells won't hit anything, then I'll realize I'm using USN CLs instead of RN ones LOL
      Personally it's harder for me to kill DDs in midtier USN CLs coz decent DD players tend to maneuver quick enough to evade from my slow shells even in mid range. I like RN ones more for that role. I got Radar+Sonar, but I tend to rely on my allies to kill them sometimes. The problem is, Worcester line has that annoying Battle Honors to kill DDs :(
      But I still love them both! Island abuse for USN, max range kiting for RN CLs. (Oh and thanks for noticing my comment!)

    I am still playing the Chapayev, and I loved this ship. I am sad that I will have to sell it to get the Donskoi. Although sometimes I struggle to get fires started, and then after like my 10th salvo, I start getting a fire. Other games, my first salvo I get a fire. But when it comes to DD hunting, I do get German CL vibes, where the AP is just murderous. I did also see that the artillery seems to be glitching, similar to PC where you shoot at a ship and the shells land short. I think it was one of the salvoes against the West Virginia.

    • @FunandGameswithTerry
      @FunandGameswithTerry  Год назад +2

      Soviet 150s have very fast shells, 6s at 12km vs e.g. Cleveland's 7s at 10.8, and as such flatter arcs. That makes it a lot easier to hit at range, but I wonder if there are issues with the lock on in certain scenarios. If this happens to you, try to disable lock-on (you can set it to "button" in the settings, giving you an icon above the steering that lets you temporarily disable it) and see if that fixes it. It takes getting used to a bit, since your turrets will no longer track, so you need to manually adjust.
      As for the fire chance, 6% is pretty decent for 150s. Effective fire chance will always be lower due to fire resistance, but at the numbers you sling down-range, it'll happen. The damage she can put out even without fires is pretty decent as well.

    • @COMMANDER-wm9vr
      @COMMANDER-wm9vr Год назад

      @@FunandGameswithTerry Yea the Soviets tend to have high muzzle velocity on their shells. Flat arcs too. I'll do that, since I think that may be the problem. Serves as good practice too. Yea it's a bit tougher to burn an American ship, I did realize that until you mentioned it. German and Italian ships do burn a bit easier.

      You're a dangerous HE spammer, it's natural. You don't have the AA to defend against CVs, so in carrier games, stay with someone who's got decent AA. Don't get separated. You've got good range. Teammates are there to give the enemy something to shoot at.
      Against BBs, you can kite - your manoeuvrability isn't great, compensate with range. You have the precision to not having to get close. You can't really lob over islands, but with some counting and range you can evade BB salvos. Generally what you want to do in a Soviet cruiser anyway.

      Not a brawler :) That's what she's got range for. Yes, manoeuvrability isn't great, but at over 12km, it's sufficient to dodge BB shells. You mostly want to keep enemies at arm's length, like in IJN CAs.
