I know what you mean about the Gaz coilovers. I drove to the Nürburgring with & started fighting with one of my best pals. We've never really ever had an argument in almost 20 years of friendship. To be honest, my back was killing me, I needed a bed & a long rest & I turned into a grumpy t**t! It seriously is a harsh setup.

Funny you mention the algorithm the video was up a week before it decided to show it to me

That was another great video Sean that I'm embarrassed to say I've only just got round to watching. Love the electrolysis, the perfect way to remove corrosion without going crazy with a rotary wire brush😉👍👍. Seeing you talk through your suspension choices reminds me of when I was doing similar stuff to Mk1 Golf GTI's, you could always tell the people who fitted bonkers stiff coil overs and solid top mounts as theirs heads were bobbing up and down as the drove down the road trying to avoid bumps larger that 25mm. Hmmmm, circlip pliers - one of the best tools I've invested in over the years.....😉. Loved the T shirt that you were wearing at the start of the episode, where did you get that from...... great memories there! Looking forward to watching the next episode later today👍👍.

Did you notice that the control arm polybushes are longer than the OEM ones and harder to fit on the car? I really struggled getting my red POLYBUSH bushes on the car and ended up refitting the stock arms, which was disappointing. I might need to grind down the metal sleeve insert of the polybush to match the 47.3mm of the OEM control arm bush.

Mine went in no issues mate. The metal sleeve was never an issue

@@PROJECT5AXO it may very well be that the control arm bush mounting point is more squashed then. 😳
Btw, I ended using B6 damper inserts with Pro kit springs and a Satchell Engineering Lower Strut Brace. I haven't put the car through its paces but it does feel sharper and tighter. On the standard suspension setup, I would feel the body roll quite a bit. Ride wise, I haven't really felt a big loss in quality or comfort, which is great.
Keeping an eye out on all your Saxo videos and subscribed!

Great stuff mate. I am currently thinking of replacing the stock suspension for coilovers as the car will be 95% track use however the price is very high

Lovely stuff, should resist the weather a bit better than gaz too...

that electrolysis rust removal section was brilliant by the way. Really looking forward to getting more sciencey once my shed is up and running.

Looking forward to your next installation Alex. It's been too long. I really didnt want to go with the Gaz's again The strut caps were supposedly zinc plated! Rust-tastic. Plus Uber firm on the ride.
Honestly the science bits are the most fun! Doesn't always work mind you!
      Get that next episode out!!!!!

What kind of shock absorbers did you use en what kind of ring to assembly it?

    Top job!
If my Saxo wasn't a daily I'd have liked to clean the struts up before fitting B8's to mine!
Great way to remove all the crust 👍
I'd be interested to see how the ride quality is on the faulkner springs when you get the car done too.

How do you rate the B8's?

And what springs are you running lb wise?

@@PROJECT5AXO Firm but not too harsh. Massive improvement over the original oe shocks on lowering springs! I was surprised at how much fatter the shock is. Very sturdy bit of kit.
I've never ran any other uprated shocks to compare to. I went by all the opinions on line.

@@PROJECT5AXO not sure. I went for the cheap option as someone was selling brand new unused spax 40mm springs online for fourty quid. It's a little crashy if I hit a pot hole but I guess every lowered saxo would be.

    • @shizface3206
      @shizface3206 3 года назад

Also I'm not sure if you're aware but after a little research I've read that saxo's lowered about 35mm or more have an issue where the off side steering arm rubs through a power steering pipe. Some owners bent the pas pipe to avoid it but I also discovered that G-max made a steering arm with a kink in it to avoid the pipe. I managed to find one and have ran it since 2016 with no problems.
