I was there about three weeks ago. The streetcars were a great way to get around. On my first day I got a 3$ day card. I only had 5$ so they gave me a 2$ voucher/card instead of money change. I used the voucher the next day, so that is also an option to not having the exact amount. Great tips as always.

Side note: When driving, streetcars have right of way over other vehicles. Period....And not just because they're the size of a city bus and cannot stop on a dime without the risk of derailing. Also, don't stop on top of the tracks when crossing the street. If you/your car get damaged as a result, the cops *will* side with the streetcar driver (see first sentence ;) ), as you're not supposed to be there in the first place. It's treated more or less the same as blocking an auto-traffic intersection.
On the up side: When you need to change from a bus line to a streetcar line (or vice versa), or just moving from one SC line to another, ask for a "transfer" from the driver when you pay. It should be like 10 or 20 cents, and having one means you do NOT need to pay the $1.25 again when switching. If you have a day pass, this is not necessary.

We stayed in an Air B&B off St Charles st right in front of a Street Car stop and we had the best time. The NOLA is one of the greatest cities in the world in my opinion. $3 for an all day trolley pass is hard to beat. They don't take you everywhere but they do take you where you need to go. The fact that they run all night and as long as you aren't belligerent you can be pretty smashed on the trolley. They even let me and my wife on board with our drinks. Just be nice to the drivers and they will remember you.

Sending best wishes a year later.
The streetcars are wonderful transport. and a trip up the St. Charles streetcar is a musr.
As a New Orleanian, [et me add that under the tourist dreck are specific places to learn our great history.
Go to the Cathedral in Jackson Square. It sits facing the Park created by the Baroness Michaela Almonester de Pontalba. As the daughter of the richest man in then French Louisiana, she was married off at 15 to Celestin, the son of Baron Pontalba. and taken to France. Here her father-in-law, wanting her dowry, shot her, then killed himself. She survived.
On her return to New Orleans, she took the area in front of the Cathedral (the "Plaza des Armas" or parade grounds of the colony,) and created the park, with its statue to celebrate Andrew Jackson, who had defeated the British in the Battle of New Orleans. On either side of the park, she had twin apartments built. Her extraordinary vision and ability incorporated building techniques today considered "pre-fab" such as the rows of wrought iron lacy balconies. er initials "MAP" are visible in groups of four for each apartment. We lived in the Lower Pontalba, and attended Mass in the cathedral.Go into the Cabildo (the building on your right as you face the Cathedral). The museum within is worth the visit. Read "Intimate Enemies" by Christina Vella.
Have one meal at Galatoire's! and let the good times roll.

If you hear that streetcars run 24/7 that’s not true for all streetcars so check first (Riverwalk does not). Ferries are different fares. If you’re going to an event (like a Saints game) via a street car expect to be crammed in like sardines. The one trip fares are only one way.

When we traveled with our daughter around that age the big challenges were the plane ride (just keeping baby calm and happy) and getting a car seat from the rental car agency.
Turns out they initially forgot to give us a strap we needed, which meant we spent 10-15 minutes getting really frustrated at the lack of instructions.

The red Riverfront cars are ADA as they were built from scratch by RTA shops, but the green cars are not as they're older and predate ADA laws.
All of the buses are ADA as they are all usually less than 10-20 years old.

We were disappointed with the streetcars from our trip last week. They DO NOT come by every 10 minutes or less as said in this video. They stop every half hour, which isn’t very convenient. Also, they do not run the entire length on Canal St. We went to board a streetcar, and the driver told us to take a bus. Later, we tried another streetcar and rode it for two blocks until the driver told everyone to get off. Then she pointed up ahead and said if we want to continue on Canal St then we need to walk 4-5 blocks to the streetcars that we could see ahead of us. This video was helpful about the Jazzy Pass, but the streetcar schedules and routes were a disappointment.
