I'm so spoiled living here in New Orleans that I can't live anywhere else. The food is amazing; the people are friendly; and cultural experiences are beyond those that you can find anywhere else. Thanks for your New Orleans food vlog.

That PO'Boy sandwich is HUGE! Wow the food options are incredible. I do like red beans and jambalaya and rice. They do have some wonderful, unusual dishes in New Orleans. I need to go back!
Thanks for the video. I'm from New Orleans. Next time you come you should try Potatoes Souflee at Antoines, they also have a really good baked Alaska, crawfish bisque (during crawfish season), Turtle Soup Commanders Palace is famous for it or Palace Cafe. Anything at Brigstens especially the smoked crawfish or shrimp (which ever is in season) cornbread, their pecan pie with caramel sauce is fabulous. These are a few of my choices.
We totally regret not getting the baked alaska! It's super hard to find that dessert these days! And thanks for the other tips!! All those spots sound amazing.
I've been to New Orleans many times and have enjoyed many excellent restaurants in and outside of the quarter. A dish I highly recommend to friends visiting NOLA is the BBQ shrimp po' boy. The best in town is either at the Bourbon House, on Bourbon Street or Pascal's Manale on Napoleon Avenue in Uptown. The BBQ shrimp appetizer at Mr. B's in the quarter is very good as well. I live in Houston, Texas, 4th largest city in the US with many transplants from NOLA and South Louisiana and there is no place I've found with BBQ shrimp that holds a candle to what's available in New Orleans
The number one thing to try in New Orleans is turtle soup, one of the few places in the world where you can try this soup ( Commander's Palace, Restaurant R'evolution, Arnaud's). The next thing is Creole flambéed dessert coffee- Cafe Brulot Diabolique( Antoine's, Galatoire's , Arnaud's. Also the famous Cajun Boudin sausage ( Cochon, Cochon Butcher). Stuffed Quail and bread pudding ( Commander's Palace, Restaurant Revolution's).
A few years ago I went to Brennans to also try the Bananas Foster but as I was traveling solo, I didn't get to try it. Got another trip planned with friends so I'm going to make it a priority!
I lived in New Orleans for just over 5 years in the late 1980s to early 90s, and I try to visit at least once a year since. My top tip to tourists is try to get out of the French Quarter for at least half of of your time in NOLA. I would reccomend Mid-City/Bayou St. John/City Park area because that's where I lived and loved it. It has made a wonderful comeback since the floods of Katrina.
@@TouristtoLocal also, stroll thru uptown/garden district. You can check out the mansions & walk down Magazine St. & check Out The Funky Shops & bars/eateries.
My mother and Grandfather cooked both Cajun and Creole versions of most things! I however prefer the Cajun form because to me the Tomatoes take from the foods!
Love seeing this view of my hometown! Very few of my friends from out of town have left here without being in LOVE with the city. It is totally unique in so many ways!! 😁👍
If ever in louisiana again. Gotta try boiled crawfish. But you will have to go to a home boil most restaurants use too much sodium and don't put in effort to make them the right way.

IDK that I would call Cafe du Monde a tourist trap...I grew up in the quarter and went there for breakfast all the time. Also, the bread you had your po boy on is NOT French Bread. French Bread is white, it almost looks like a baguette. And the best place to get them is Domileses, which is uptown. It's only locals. But, of course, you barely left the French Quarter. That sandwich you called a poboy is not on New Orleans French bread. That's a plain white bread bun with sesame seeds. French bread never includes sesame seeds.
