My Double Crowns are definetly fake, but these are the best sounding Chips i got especially in holographic as you described. And they are from Aliexpress. I will buy one more next weeks. I love the sound of TDA1541A.
Love the channel !! You are correct about the TDA 1541 Gabster in 1989 i was reading Crutchfield magazine my holy grain to Audio back then before the internet! ' But i always day dreamed about the beautiful Sony CDP 605esd pics in the magazine the beautiful TDA1541 and the BU-1Mech ohhh my but back then thr 605esd price tag was $1k in 89' PS i bought the 605esd 2 years ago 😃 and its fast or lossless 🤣 I wonder if i could upgrade the Tda1541 ' Its only a single chip '
Hi TJ Most of these cd players suffer from a poor output stage often upgrading that makes a difference I may make a output stage kit soon for peyto upgrade some cd players Loving your Chanel 😊
Really learning a TON from these videos on DAC chips, so thank you Gabster!!! I wonder if the DAC chips out of older CD players can be 're-purposed' into a newer DAC? I have a Pioneer PD-65 that has a bad laser assembly board and no longer works. However, it has 2, "PULSEFLOW LEGATO-LINK" PD2028B DAC chips. I believe they were 1 bit and did have some form of custom 'EQ' tweak to them. I had LOVED how this CD player sounded using the internal DAC, over ANY other DAC, CD player, Streaming unit I have heard. I would LOVE to find a way to pull those chips out and use in a stand alone DAC unit!!!
A couple things you can do search for a part replacement for the Laser assembly maybe you can replace it or send it to a good CD repair guy maybe fixed other option converting it into a Dac if you can find the I2s leads but that requires schematics experience and time I looked it up that is a nice 1500$ CD player
@@Gabster1 that's so funny you say that, as I am in the process of my repair shop tracking down a new laser assembly. They are no where to 'reliably' be found, anywhere, save for taking out of someone elses used same-age-used machine. I have also wondered about having it just as a DAC! I am fairly certain schematics can be found somewhat easily, and also somewhat certain the I2S leads could be traced. It's a matter of finding someone with actual skill/experience/knowledge to help with all of it! Honestly, when it ran I had it go thru 2 dozen DACs, and the internal one ALWAYS was DRAMATICALLY different, obvious, bold, clear and very 'projecting' sound and sound stage. It truly is one hell of CD player....well...was. :D
@@alanm.thornton4055 maybe I should buy one but then I have too many projects and so little time :) here is a schematics link looks like 19,20,21,22 are your I2s Pins audiocircuit.dk/downloads/pioneer/Pioneer-PDS904-cd-sm.pdf
I admit to using AE a lot. Most stuff is good quality, but you HAVE TO LOOK! I went the RaspPi Moode route and glad I did, I have 3 Pis to start projects with and a few other AE Pi HATs and DACs (AK4137 and PCM1794a and a Terradak WD8805 HAT, that are waiting to be tested) I have had very good success with the AE purchased ES9038Q2M DAC by Innomaker (genuine product too @$90AUD), paired with a set of mono MA5332MS amps in stereo, of the higher quality black PCB and components ($100AUD each), to my ears, the MA5332MS sounds a lot better than the TDA3255 on same DAC. I would love to sample a Gabi TDA1541 DAC, whats the cost plus shipping to AU?
I do like buying a lot of things from A E just did not have much luck when buying TDA1541A chips For the TD1 you will find all the info on my website gabster.ca
good to know, thanks for details . Very Curious to test your DAC TD1 .

So basically we do not need any sophisticated test equipment to figure out what TDA1541A chip is good or not just use our ears
Yup, your ears is all you need.
