This is a phenomenal addon. The tools are fast, intuitive, and extremely powerful. I only wish that your focus wasn't entirely on kitchens, bathrooms and closets. Archipack and Archimesh already do a sufficient job at those. And while the tools you've developed are arguably as good if not better in some instances, those tools already make quick work of laying out standard homes. What we need are tools for all common spaces, meaning offices, restaurants, etc. The base tools of Home Builder already work for those uses, but it would be good to see pro-packs for those specific spaces being developed. Regardless, thank you for the exceptional work on this. I just found it and have already adoped it into my ArchViz workflow.

Yeah you can set key frames on the open door property. If you research Blenders Animation system you can learn how it works. I also plan to create tutorials on this.
Something that might seem minor, but to me is a huge time-saver and opens up tons of possibilities, is not having to switch to other software. That 2:01 "dimension change" feature you mentioned really got my attention - it could be a game-changer! But, @andrepeel, what's the plan for dimensions beyond 2D? Will we get the same kind offeatures we're used to in 2D CAD programs, like dotted lines, center lines, and different line end points? Are you planning to develop things that far?
Yeah having a simple dimension tool is the first step, but this will be extended to include all of the common annotations needed for technical drawings.
This is crusial. This is were Sketshup/ Layout is struggling. To be able to fast and easy get elevations and pro 2d floorplans that are allways up to date with the 3d models is a hugh impovement! In sketchup you need so many steps and a bounch of plugins to achieve this. Im just considering buying Dibac for Sketchup to be able to get the floorplan fast, but there is still the fuzz with using Layout. So this makes me thinking: how long will it take for this product to be at that point?
As a professional who deals with Autodesk products everyday, I can say how refreshing it is for someone to care about the quality of a product rather than the quantity or how fast they can pump new (and sometimes useless) features. I can't speak for everyone as there are always some unhappy people, but I think you should never apologize for your dedication and passions for this work. I can tell it is all worth the wait. If there are issues for tutorials and documentation, then maybe it might be beneficial to have one other person help. I am sure there would be many who would love to help create videos for you and test out your product. I do understand though that since you are a solo developer that something like that might not be in the budget but still really great work! One question, will we have to redownload the new HB 4 or if we have it on 3.6 will we be able to use the upgrade button provided?
Also, will the new homebuilder have tools for repeating items like lights, chairs, decorations, etc? You could use a similar curve line and then add in other options like randomize rotation and things like that.
This will be a new version that will have to be downloaded. Since I am keeping Home Builder 3 around for people who want to use Blender 3.6 LTS this is essentially a new add-on. After downloading the new version all future updates can be received with the check for updates button.
Really like it. Very well made and easy to use. But when I change the dimensions of the sink or the cooktop there are holes in the cabinet. Do you know how to fix that? Thanks in advance!
I would like away to do a 2d setup like planner 5d and other similar design apps. Once everything is positioned then you can modify based on color and other features.

Thanks for the Addon, its Awesome, but when i wanna to select all object and move it to another location, it streches and give uncorrect shape, also if i select the room base point it only works for one wall, in that case i can't move it easily!
You can adjust the location of any home builder asset in the right click prompts interface. Selecting the base point allows you to use Blender commands to move the assets. If you want to move multiple assets you would just need to select all of the base points you want to move.
Hi Andrew. I love this add-onn. I want to ask you something. All my unit setup is metric but I can change units for layout views it's inches. Is there any way to change it to metric?

Hello, I'm pretty new to blender. I installed the home builder addon and checked the box under add-ons. Am I supposed to have 5 home builder tabs at the top of my blender screen? It says file, edit, ..... Then 5 separate home builder tabs. All say the same thing when I hover over them. Also I have no idea how to get the home builder library up and can't seem to find a video explaining it. Thanks.

It seems this is one of the coolest and most useful tools that blender has had. Thank you!!! Walls, doors, windows - so beautiful and high quality!! Wow!, The room simulation is very nice. I also want to support you as a developer. How can i do this?? But I have a problem. After saving the project, and resuming the opening of the same project again, there is no possibility of continuing the simulation. Bug. This happens in Blender 4.0. Home-4 version of the program. And if I press any buttons, the Blender program crashes. Am I the only one with this bug? Or? How to deal with this? But I found a strange temporary solution to the problem. In Blender 3.6, I installed the Home-3 version of the program. And now, when I made room modeling in Blender 4.0, in the Home-4 version of the program, after saving and re-opening the project, the Hoom 4 version of the program is automatically turned off in the Addon category and the Home-3 version is turned on. So I Blender 4.0 re-modeling in the program is available in the Home-3 version.

I have to ask if this is an advertisement for paid apps which actually work? So you will willingly pay hundreds of dollars rather than keep going in circles with this app?

You need to apply the modifiers before exporting. I plan to create an quick command to prepare the scene for export to make this easier for users.
Looks great, arrow type shape head options, such as tick or dot etc with the dimensions would be good to see.

It's possible but I don't have an easy way to do this yet. Right now it requires you to make modifications to the mesh using Blenders modeling tools.

I'm curious why using freestyle over grease pencil to draw lines ? Is one of those faster or whatever?

Still experimenting grease pencil too at the moment (slow but viewport visibility though...); unfortunately no magic trick yet for 2d drawing graal...
Can we export the dimensioned views as DXFs (with the correct scale)?
Blender has the ability to export DXF's but I will need to test this out.

I missing how to animate Homebuilder doors rotating open and closed with keyframes. Could you show that a video please?
If you right click on a property you can create key frames, but yes I plan on creating a tutorial for this.

I did notice when I made the kitchen items some of the models normals were not correct when I used the pyclone items
