I got the same color for this and the model 1. Their brown burlap micarta looks great and knives are top notch. Really digging this new model as I’m a big fan of this size blade
Thanks for the review.... That's a great looking knife. And, they actually listened to the guy who invented that steel about the optimal HRC. (It's surprising who hasn't.) You have a lot of beautiful knives, brother... I geuss, I need to get one in my XL+ hands before I order one... But, everything else is really calling to me. I would really like a Magnacut blade - and one made at that 62.5 HRC target. And, I am really impressed with White River. Thanks again.
I know this reply was from a while back, but if your hands are particularly wide this knife might not be the best fit for all the different grip positions. i did see there are aftermarket scales tho that cover the exposed tang/lanyard hole so that it extends the grip..which might actually make it work just fine even for really wide hands. Knuckle to knuckle on my hand is just about 3 3/8th inches wide, and the stock grip fits me well..tho if my hands were any wider idk if that would be the case. Think the aftermarket scales would fix that, tho, unless you just have bear paws
@ShoahBiz Yeah... I would probably go for those scales. I have looked at some others (just missed out on a BM Puuko at a good price, locally) but, they just don't interest .me as much. I have wanted a White River in my collection; and, I have an interest in a blade that size and blade-shape, to upgrade my Morakniv Robust. Also, something in Magnacut oc... I have a BK2 already, so it is hard for me to rationalize an Ursus 45, or FC5,4.5 etc... No matter how cool they are. I just love that BK2, warts and all... it is still fun wailing on that thing for processing wood. :-) The Robust is great for what it is. But, it is more of a trade knife than for the woods. I carry it a lot at one of my jobs. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. Peace
I EDC my Ursus 45 and love it. I have the DLT exclusive CPM 3V. I am so content with it that I thought I was done buying fixed blades for a while. But this thing looks fantastic and I need some Magnacut 8n my life. Damn it...
Believe it not, this knife fits my XL hands but there's no room left over. I am a pretty big fan of White River Knives and I don't think they get enough attention.
@@1joshjosh1people blow $300+ on benchmade folders. American made products cost more. Sucks but it’s worth it. I pick and choose carefully what I buy because I can’t buy them all like the old days
@@1joshjosh1 which is a reasonable price for an all US made blade using the latest and greatest materials, a wonderful sheath and their heat treat dialed in perfectly.
Yeah amazing I placed an order with white river for magnacut (twice now, this model and the model 1 were in magnacut) and white river had it shipped next day. Perfect fit and finish as well there’s no way that “other” company is any better. I know cause I’ve owned a couple. Key word is owned…they’re gone
Nice knife. But for feathersticking and banging around with a baton and carving tent stakes and pothooks.... Why spend $200 on a knife when you can get the same results using a $20 Mora? Take the leftover $180 and go on a nice camping trip somewhere. Unless, of course, you're a collector, in which case ... anything goes. For any reason.
You’re right-I love my Mora Scandi knives for their performance and affordability! I also appreciate higher-end knives for their materials, durability, and craftsmanship. As a utilitarian enthusiast, I enjoy the experience and the thought of passing down quality tools. Having made a knife myself, I understand the effort involved. Both approaches are valid-it’s all about personal preference. Thanks!
Sure I agree there are plenty of blade options out there which makes this community come together. Knife Center, BladeHQ, Chicago Knife Works, DLT, Heart of Texas Armory, etc…have all chipped away at my wallet over the years. This is still a great quality USA made, Magnacut, steel and sheath/handle setup for the price in my opinion.
Personally, I love high quality USA made blades. In fact, that’s what makes up the bulk of my collection. Everything from CRK, Microtech, Protech, Strider, Benchmade, Bradford, White River and etc. Also, a knife purchase is not just about the knife. It’s also about the warranty and the customer service that goes along with the knife. 🇺🇸
curious what knife you think competes with this at ~$67 or so? Terava 85 I guess...but thats not even a fraction of the knife this is. A few moras? Yeah, we have those..not the same but totally practical so thats fine. What do you have in mind
I have many 100 and $200 knives. $200 to $300 is the sweet spot, and I do need that much knife. Honestly, a $200 knife has the things I want and need in a knife. Anything less is just a lot less.
That is my dream hunting knife. I loves a 31/2” drop point without big deep finger choils. Beautiful!!!
Thank you for reviewing the knife! I suppose, you're the first one on RUclips who did it.
Appreciate it!
The full size version is one of my favorite camp blades. I will definitely be snagging this mini version as well.
Same here white river knives doesn’t get the love they deserve. I absolutely love the ursus45
they just dropped the full size in magnacut the other day....too good to resist.

Anytime, brother! Definitely check it out if you can. The handle is on the smaller size. Other than that, it's a mini workhorse.

Beautiful fixed blade
Such a beautiful piece I wish all their products came automatically with vertical carry
It's a nice option
@@papatechie yeah definitely. I’d also really like their sheaths to not be way too hard to manipulate
Well thanks now I gotta have one
How does it comare to the mini bush 165 from Benchmade? They look very similar specs wise.
*Was this knife with that funny colorful handle designed by Picasso?*

That sounds like good feedback! Quality blades at a good prices!
Maybe because they're like $200

They need to restock that knife...
they restocked it like a week after you posted this lol
Mine arrived last week and was dull as a butter knife!! I put it on a precision sharpener, and now it has a wicked edge. Very odd from White River!
Yes that is very surprising! All mine have been popping
I’d be getting this before pre ordering from that other company not worth mentioning 😂 that had people waiting 5 and 6 years . 🦅✌️

It’s not pukko. It’s Puukko. If that’s referring Finnish word of knife.
Looks like a Burlap Micarta I love Burlap Micarta
You can have a lot of knife for 1/3 of what this thing cost. 🤦🏻♂️

Don’t buy a nice knife unless it is nicer than what you already have.
Most people nowadays just buy knives for fidget toys anyway. Do you really need a $200 knife ?
I realy need 400,- $ knife. Have a lot of them. Great quality. You can use 10,- $ Mora.
