I currently have all three in my inventory. My favorite is tamiya. They work great for air brush as well. I have a few other brands as well, but for me overall tamiya is the best choice
I built models (poorly) when I was a kid about 13 and quit when I got into high school. I'm now in my 50s and have gotten back into it again and am really enjoying it.
Hell you don’t have to be old to not be able to read what paint color your grabbing!! Only 39.. and I had a hell of a time this am!!! And after about 5 seconds I grabbed my phone, fine point sharpy and masking tape… zoom in, write in bigger letters, put it over 1 I’d the pointless labels and your good to go for next time!! lol and yea your video was helpful and informative!! Thank you for taking the time to make it!
I agree Testors is still the mainstay of the hobby, but Tamiya is a better choice. Like you I have plenty of Testors, but I’m slowly switching to Tamiya. Thanks for sharing.
I still have a fair amount of Model Master paints from three or four years ago. I love Tamiya paints and use them a lot and I have yet to see that Revell paint anywhere but in videos and it sounds like it should stay that way! I'm using some cheap craft acrylics like you get at Hobby Lobby or Michaels...in an airbrush. Works great! and it's cheap!
Testors was some pretty good paint. When I was a teen you could buy a bottle like that for .30 cents. I so miss the Model Masters Paint I used that often on my models and had some great results. I do go to Hobby Lobby if I am desperate for paint, but I would rather go to a good hobby store locally owned.
I used to use testors all the time as a kid these days I only use the metallics others colors tend to dry up if they're not used often. For that I use acrylics they're cheaper. At hobby lobby now I've noticed only the revell kits are up in price almost 40 bucks while amt or mpc remain under $30 I don't know why.
testors paints that are available vin my area are few colors plus cant tell what colors are in bottle its not printed on bottle and usually the paints are all mixed up on racks depending on where i go
Testors .25 oz bottle enamels have plenty of colors to choose from.. Rustoleum discontinued the Model Master paints but still producing enamel .25 oz bottles and acrylics. 25 oz bottles. I've been to several stores and haven't seen the .25 oz acrylics sold separately though. They have been available in a package kit. The .25 oz enamels have been available separately and in package kits
For car bodies MCW ENAMELS are hands down the best there is. They carry over 200 modern and vintage colors. They are also much better than the old Testors enamels, as these cure in 24 hours.
by the time of this comment, Testors is gone, and you can't get it unless it's leftover stock somewhere. I do entirely hand brush painting. I use Tamiya a lot, but it is not the best for the hand brush. Revell Aqua color, though I don't have a lot of experience with it yet, seems to be relatively good for the hand brush. Paint manufacturers, though they often say you can use their paint for airbrush or hand, really seem to make their paints for the former, not the latter. I have yet to find a satisfactory handbrush paint. HANDBRUSH PAINTERS OF THE WORLD UNITE!

@t3hgir Yes.. I was not thinking to mention the Extreme Laquers sprays when I made that comment.. I've used them several times before and the finish dried beautifully.. They're not part of the Model Master line that was discontinued.
Rust oleum ruined the testers brand and did away with model masters. I hate when these big ass companies come in buy up the small guys and ruin it for the consumer. Tamiya enamels are excellent but can’t get in the US.

I agree it's sad that less and less younger people are getting into the building hobby and just play on their phone and play video games...
its our duty to try our best to get them in
Being online all the time is actually the reason I have so many hobbies, such as model making.
First time seeing your show . I like the truth of it and ya you cuss . you are a real builder. Don't change. Keep it real .
I recently sold my Xbox and returned to building models or spending more time out in the garage working on projects. It’s a breath of fresh air.

Vallejo is great
Personally I think is best. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Thanks for watching!

I wish the Tamiya enamels were more readily available in the US.
I've always used Testors and have had mostly good luck with it. I've yet to try Revell or Tamiya paint...
You should!

Totally agree
Do you use an airbrush at all?
I just got my first airbrush kit, and I'm trying to figure out what paints work best for car bodies.

I am running low on model master, I buy it when I can find it
I've heard great things about Tamiya kits... I've yet to build one...
You should!

I tried Citadel White once... Didn't care for it at all and I went back to Testors!!
cheers, thanks for comment
Citadel whites are famously bad in the wargaming community.

Thank you for the content and sharing. Are you Brush painting with Tamiya? adding thinner, multiple coats, hints/tips?
What about types of paints? Acrylic, lacquer or enamel? Does glue stick better to one or the other?
I tend to use acrylic for body and enamel for details, glue will def smear acrylic easier
Thanks for sharing.🤠👍
You bet
Great review. Some of the Testors paints, especially the gold, takes months to dry! Is there a better option?
I am having really good results with Tamiya, mr color, and revell if you can get it not in the square jars
Thanks man.
No problem!

@@Tony-ip3mo Testors Extreme Lacquer spray paint is still being made AFAIK, and that stuff is actually quite good for quick paint jobs that cure fast.
@t3hgir Yes.. I was not thinking to mention the Extreme Laquers sprays when I made that comment.. I've used them several times before and the finish dried beautifully..
They're not part of the Model Master line that was discontinued.
@@Tony-ip3mo my local shop had a good stock of MM acrylic/enamels left over after the discontinuation. Now they've been almost all picked through lol

I'm guessing Testors is the cheapest option too....
yes
1.99 I wish I'm paying 4.99 per bottle of testors plus 5%tax
Why don't you just decant from rattle cans?
Ya I'm old and testors bottles are terrible. Revell has lost their minds it seems..
Poor choice of words takes away from an otherwise beneficial review.
