  • When painting with wet paper it is nice to just let the colors speak instead of trying to make a picture or scene. I like to start with a song and then a little story about Whisky Frisky the Squirrel. I would usually tell a longer story with more descriptions of the colors we will be painting that day, but kept it short for todays purpose. The paint is Stockmar watercolor and the paper is heavy watercolor paper that is soaked in a tub for ten minutes.
A lovely rainbow see it span
So brightly shining o’er the land.
It is so red gold green and blue
I want to climb it now with you.

This looks lovely. What is the water/paint ratio? And what paper (thickness) are you using? Thank you

Hi Stephanie. I usually eye ball the water ratio, but it is about one third paint to two thirds water. Try not to overmix though as it is nice to have darker sediment on the bottom and a more watery light on the top for variation of color. Happy painting!
