    Of course you can use that design. If there was ever a patent on the Foliot and Verge mechanism, then it would have expired over 700 years ago, so we're both safe from prosecution! I like to think that all Meccano model designs are 'discovered' rather than 'invented', because we only have a finite set of components to use in a finite set of ways. I imagine it was easier to set up than a pendulum or balance wheel escapement, with or without Meccano. Best wishes for future school projects.

    I wish I had your know how as I am fascinated by clockwork mechanics... (I guess my dream would be to make a wooden clock work piece). Maybe some day... Thank you for sharing your amazing creation!
