12:20 P going for fourth base and T sitting on 2 forced to make a move. This is a textbook example of position where a Protoss has 4 options. Storm, arbiter, carrier or throw the game attack.
i dont play this game, but i would be damned if i ever missed an RT cast. It was cool that RT recognized 'say's emotion and nervousness through the gameplay. gives me chills.
regarding microing a reaver and shuttle...there IS a small optimization that can be done. I discovered a couple years ago a reaver dropped out of a shuttle will fire sooner if you manually issue a command like ~1/2 a second before it fires. You can spam issue the command so you don't have to time anything, but I made a quick video demonstrating this. I don't know how well known this is, but i've learned it's a safe bet to assume it's already known in korea.
This looks to me like an underestimation on Sharp's part. If he was playing against Snow or something, I don't think he chases those dragoons. Good on Say for a solid reaver drop and keeping relatively cool with pushing for an expansion macro game.
Would love to see a do-over on this game with these two exact players and builds where Sharp just decides not to chase the goons to the top right and instead goes toward the natural. That mine was well-positioned to cover the push from a flank by those goons from above (unless they went up and around to the right before coming back down, but he didn't know exactly where the mine was). Then as he was pushing into the natural he could've brought one more vulture up to add a couple more mines for even better flank defence! But also yeah he needed to not miss that ebay. Yikes
Thanks for casting these games. Just found the channel in the past few weeks and have been really enjoying watching brood war again. I played over 10 years ago, just watching these games brings back memories. Love the commentary brother!
It's possible that the dragoons that just no-scoped those mines consecutively got Sharp to chase them because they should have been dead and they weren't, and he felt that was a wrong that should be righted. In that frame of mind things don't have to make sense. : [
Never miss a cast. Ty so much, your explanation of terren builds is helping me improve. I played this game 20 yrs ago and am 10 times better now. So thanks arty!!
I've been playing Starcraft since 1998 when it came out and I remember the pre-BW eras of pain. Played for many years as a upper-mid range scrub in SC1 and SC2. I just want to say your casting is the absolute best in show.
Hey Artosis - love this channel. Could you make a video one day of going over some strategies, and what advantages/disadvantages they offer? ie why factory/expand offers counterattack options?
Sharp is one of the few that can give us the come-from-behind victory we all crave. But I agree. Everyone watching was like WTF when he chased the goons
great game by Unknown Protoss. WOuldn't shock me if it's a pro, but it was all fundamentals throughout. Terran went for a very fast CC and Protoss went for VERY FAST tech, which used to be meta awhile back, but is generally not as good in the current meta. If terran plays very defensively, then you are behind a lot economically with the very fast 1 gate Reaver into expansion. The reaver basically has to deal damage, and Protoss either got lucky with his build, or he noticed Sharp's build and recognized he would have a window with a very fast tech. In either case, it worked beautifully, and the reaver did tremendous damage because 1) no turrets and 2) units OOP chasing down two dragoons for dubious gain. But the fundamentals employed afterwards were very impressive, he essentially adhered to exactly the correct strategy like you pointed out, and only poked and prodded at Sharp's defenses once he had established a basically insurmountable economic lead. Sharp even killed a Nexus and it essentially didn't matter. Too little, too late. Protoss is majorly advantaged after the reaver gets all those SCV kills around 6:30-7:00, but vs a player like Sharp, that can be EASILY flubbed unless the Protoss plays a fundamentally sound game, which Say did. The one tiny mistake he made was trying to mass shuttle drop Sharp's main where he was incredibly entrenched, but it at least served the purpose of keeping Sharp off the map and back in his base. He realized he was over-extending, and just went back to macroing and controlling the map. Yes the game was one-sided, but it was still fascinating seeing how a tiny mistake early snowballed into a decisive victory, and seeing all the places it could have gone wrong for Protoss.
Loved that Protoss player. He seems to know much better than a lot of the Korean Toss players right now there are only a few specific windows to actually attack Terran and not just lose the game.
It's never mentioned, but Terrans are finally starting to send repair crews with the army. Sharp saved the gol like 3 times by having an SCV repairing it. When this is used and done at scale, I think it will tip the scale into Terrans favor tvp
You should have Plagerised from yesterday & started doing *gg, out* - to finish the videoes! This game went on so long after that reaver... a really good game to cast to see standard & wild at the same time (a play can get much better game-sense/feel from a game such as this)!
To me this seems a lot like a case of overconfidence when pitted up against a lower level unknown player. Fresh off of taking second place he thought there was no way that this rando nobody could beat him so he wasn't taking the game as seriously as he should have been and got really sloppy, maybe even chasing that Dragoon down as something of a flex, sure that he had it in the bag, but once those Reavers dropped into his main it suddenly got real for him and the match snowballed out of control to the point where the only way he could have won would be for "Say" not to have enough patience. Unfortunately for Sharp though, he did.
First 50 seconds is Arty trying to figure out who this protoss is before essentially saying “fk it. Thats the intro!!! LETS GOOOO!” Also that early game reaver really messed him up. Sharp was on 2 base for the longest time, trying to recover his SCV count
Okay. Artosis historians. When did Artosis begin saying "Zell-lut" (the proper pronunciation) instead of "Zell-lot" (how we all pronounced it as kids)? I just noticed in this video.
No fluff, no BS intros, just brood war. That’s why ArtosisCasts is the best these days
Title is what my wife asks when she overhears Artosis stream TTS’s
cursed streams lmao

Love the way Arty identifies a key moment that changes the game and goes back to explain it

the last option, every time
For non-Chinese speakers, this dude’s ID is friggin cursing words in acronyms in Chinese…😅
19:15 I'm sorry but that is the most squidward ass laugh I have ever heard 😂
i dont play this game, but i would be damned if i ever missed an RT cast.

for how far behind he was, sharp regained a crazy amount of map control with the vulture + mine play toward the end
sae threw pretty hard by not actually saturating his extra bases
could have had another maxout at roughly that time if he had the extra cash
A tale of two Artosis - this is chilled Arty, no twitch chat voice over. Just me, Arty, and broodwar

I think your analysis of what went wrong for sharp was spot on. Even I was like: why chase that and give up the pressure on the natural?
Yeah, Sharp got kited, surprised me.
It's all about that reaver. Snow level of control.
That Protoss has surreal micro... like, how? He's playing from outside the Matrix and I'm cooling my laptop with room-temperature pepsi cans.
The title sums up average day in RT twitch chat.
that Sharp defence looked like playing single player in Starcraft

Ya dude, what I love about this channel is its intellectually stimulating yet relaxing at the same time.
Let's call him "Say GG"

Thanks so much for making these RT, always look forward to my morning joe w/ some artosiscasts
What a great cast, thanks Arty
6:28 you know it's pretty straightforward--OHMYGOD 😂
Spectacular cast!
Really interesting game and an exeptional cast as always. :D
Never miss a cast. Ty so much, your explanation of terren builds is helping me improve. I played this game 20 yrs ago and am 10 times better now. So thanks arty!!
Protess’ ID is the abbreviation of the phrase that bursts out when you have some negative motions
That reaver micro was savage!
3:42 is that SCV moving shotting the Zealot???
Yeah it was, LoL

thanks for the cast
5:22 That's why you lay two mines close together.
great job arty, keep em coming
Artosis coined the "Snow's Level reaver" expression. Thank me later Tasteless.
Love the reaver play!!!
Great cast
He did NOT want to lose this one 😂
SCVs just danced all day under that shuttle river.
Love the DT action last game.

What happened to Mirror Match Monday?
Thanks for the daily content artosis ❤

Great game and an excellent post-game analysis.
Thank you professor 🙏
Spoiler block? This was one of the more tactical matches I've seen in while
Artosis is the goldilocks of zealot legs.
Wait isnt that SC2 music in the Background?
No? It’s from Broodwar
Since SSL, Sharp has become one of my fav players. Such a likeable guy
Zerg is so HYPE!

OMG! Thanks You for Sharp replay ! :D
OMG Sharp v Zerg please in near future.
"poking the nexus" :) - chills
Good post game analysis on the dragoon leading the Terran army out of position.
Favourite part of my morning is a new BW cast

*Spoiler wall*
This toss really coocked some good reaver kimchi for that Sharptosis
why do you speak like a 13 yo?
We DID enjoy. Ty
Say's aping was hilarious.
Because of the reaver drops, I just don't understand why you wouldn't just focus on Goliaths.
:O
Protoss didn’t throw! Chills.
Also nerf Protoss!
