    Dear Fuji, congratulations on the X-Pro3! It looks to be among the greatest cameras of all time. And perhaps I'm in the minority for saying this, but I think it is incredibly versatile, and would certainly be my first choice if I were to be confined to a single camera.

      yeah I was like WHAT? thats very cool for those using vintage glass. Thats always a problem when using adaptive lenses you have to manually write it down or iunload the card right after a shoot with an old lens with no EXIF data otherwise you forget and can add it in your post comments on Flickr or other Social Media sharing sites. Fuji is thinking of ALL those little nuances. excellent

    There is problem with fujifilm X-pro3 , if you attach the Swiss release plate for tripod you can’t open the screen all the way down 180 degree. Is there any special plate for it

    • @fujiguys

      Fujifilm does not make an Arca Swiss compatible plate at this time. There is a metal hand grip that you can use to help.

    I’m a professional headshot and portrait photographer, in a small studio with strobes and also with natural light. I have an XT3 and most recently, a X100V, and I’ve fallen seriously in love with the rangefinder style of the X100. So much so, that I’m considering selling the XT3 to get the XPRO3. I’d love your thoughts on that. I actually like the idea of the “hidden” LCD, and I love the connection with my subject when I look through a rangefinder style camera. It’s intimate and I can feel the camera get out of the way. It feels good to have an eye on my subject.
    I have no problem with the XT3, it’s great and reminds me of the old Nikon FE that I trained on as a teen.
    I just feel a deep connection to rangefinder style. I trained on film, shooting since I was 13, and something about the analog feel of the XPRO is calling to me, but unsure how it would be for professional headshots and portraits.
    Would you feel confident to have the XPRO as a main portrait and even a studio camera? Could it replace my XT3?
    I also occasionally shoot family portraits and small events, occasionally a wedding. My work is all about people and the human connection to clients.
    Thanks for any thoughts! I trust your expertise.

    There’s only two things I want to do when I’ve taken a photo - check the focus and the histogram. I don’t want to have pull the screen down every time to do that. Nobody seems to be covering those essentials or where you can do that. Can the histogram be accessed on the little back screen. Can both be accessed in the EVF?

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  4 года назад +4

      Peter MacDonald Thanks for asking. While the histogram is not viewable in the rear LCD panel, you can use the EVF to view it, as well as confirm focus.

    • @fellowcitizen
      @fellowcitizen 4 года назад

      @@fujiguys Yeah, I usually chimp and check via the EVF, and appreciate the fold-out screen for events for more flattering portraiture.
      However, I'd also really love to see two implementations for the submonitor from Kaizen if possible:
      the histogram (or eq.) Peter mentioned;
      and a basic framing feed so that the submonitor on the reverse of the folded down screen can be used for basic centring/framing for vlogs/selfies (it needn't have a high refresh rate or resolution, nor even show the whole frame - but being able to target the centre would be useful for some social photography/videography).

    • @1fareast14
      @1fareast14 4 года назад

      @@fellowcitizen Hmm, the xpro needing a selfie screen. Didn't expect to see that in this comments section, but I agree. The x-t100's screen would be perfect

    • @fellowcitizen
      @fellowcitizen 4 года назад

      @@1fareast14 Yeah, it wouldn't be a priority for blueprints, but given that there is a submonitor facing the subject, it does seem logical if technologically possible :) I've often thought that there was no need for fully functional vlog-screens, but that target framing and exposure indication would be useful.

    The good screen has already been invented before and implemented well in the X-A70. You can hide it, Show it or flip it. That's the best screen option I've seen.

    • @1fareast14
      @1fareast14 4 года назад +1

      The fully articulating screen is worse for waist-level shooting, because it takes longer to angle up, and sticks out from the side of the camera. A slightly better mechanism for this camera is the one used on the old sony a77 series of cameras. It can be hidden, and is still good for waist-level.

    • @algarveTV
      @algarveTV 4 года назад

      @@1fareast14 Longer to angle up not true. If longer is more 2 seg. OK, but don't find that argument so valid. The other, that it sticks out, yes, sometimes can be less useful but in general I find it more times convenient. If you do only waist level, I agree, but I do a lot of other positions and , like I said, 85% of the times, is more convenient.

  • @1fareast14

    I hope fuji reconsiders their direction for the x-pro series. I'd like to switch to fuji but can't:
    -the ovf on the xpro2 was lovely and my reason for wanting to switch, perfect for the street photography that I do
    -since I was planning to shoot unstabilized primes, I decided to wait for IBIS in the pro3
    -I was also hoping for a tilt screen for low angle shots
    -was expecting the 10bit 60p on the xt-3 to make it over
    Even though I AM the target demographic, fuji has screwed this camera beyond recognition
    -the ovf may be bigger, but it lacks the magnifier that let me use the 50mm, dealbreaker right there
    -dpad is gone FOR NO REASON, custom buttons are valuable and scarce
    -the screen can tilt, but can't do high angle shots or work in the normal position. When you need full peripheral vision to time a shot, lcd is still the only option. All benefits of the xpro3 can be had by turning the screen off. This concession gives the tiniest bit for purists, but kills the camera for everyone else. Another dealbreaker.
    -10bit 60p is gone, even though the sensor and processor are obviously capable. I don't care if it overheats, add it in a firmware update, and nix the record limit. Is a waveform monitor too much to ask?
    Anyway, seems like Fuji wants to steal Leica customers. Fine. Copy leica then, and make an uncrippled version of this camera as a special edition. I'd love to give Fuji my money, but they don't seem to want it. They should also remember that most of the features the xpro line started out with were for pros, 2 cards, weather sealing, joystick, plenty of buttons. Only a small number will find the xt-3 an acceptable replacement for the pro2.

    I have had many Fuji cameras. I currently have a T4, X100V and Pro3. When is Fuji going to come out with a firmware update so we can see the custom film profile name in the Q menu? In fact, when are they going to come out with upgrades to older models with the same sensor and processor? That used to be something Fuji buyers could rely on. What’s going on with Fuji???
    I gave my F to my son and recently got the V. For the first time in Fuji history they actually provided a matching hot shoe cover. Great, I thought, they finally get it. I spent FOUR TIMES the money to get the Fuji brand lens hood so I could weather proof it. I did this because I wanted the lens hood to match the camera. IT DOESN’T! What is up with Fuji and silver color. F2 lenses don’t match cameras and now the V hood doesn’t match the camera. Why can’t they settle on one silver color and stick to it? Doesn’t seem to have put Leica out of business. NO ONE buys a camera because of some new shade of silver.

    Fuji Guys...HELP. I just got an X-Pro3. I've had a couple X100's and a Pro2. I may be one of the ten people that actually use the OVF so my request is statically HUGE. On all the other hybrid viewfinders I've used from Fuji, in the OVF mode the parallax frame lines move to compensate when the shutter is 1/2 pressed and return to the neutral infinity position as soon as the shutter button is released. On the Pro3 I have, The parallax correction moves the framing box but DOES NOT RETURN TO THE NEUTRAL POSITION. This is VERY annoying when recomposing the next image at infinity. If one close focuses and the frame moves to the lower right it remains there even when the camera is turned off and on again. Please tell me this is a firmware glitch Fuji is going to SPEEDILY correct an update for not only me but the other nine users of the OVF. I searched the manual and didn't see any setting I could change. I would very much appreciate a response from you since I call support and they were clueless.

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  4 года назад

      Thanks Thomas. This change could have been the result of previous users preferring to maintain the bright frame at the same focus distance. Having the bright frame remain in the previous framing is useful and reduces time if the next shot is at the same focus distance. The same holds true with having the lens retain the focus rather than returning to infinity after each exposure.
      A half-press after recomposing will bring the bright frame into the correct position.We will forward your comments along to the Engineers to review.

    • @Thomas_Geist
      @Thomas_Geist 4 года назад

      @@fujiguys Thanks for replying. Sure, "could be." Anything "could be" and yours is a good theory, but not very likely. Have you ever heard someone who uses the OVF complain about this in any RUclips, forum or personal conversation? I don't think so, but good try.
      Since the frame lines have always gone back to the neutral position after releasing the shutter button from the first X100 and both prior X-Pros, if Fuji wanted to change this they should have at least created the option for those of us who have become used to the prior operation and like it just fine. No excuse not to have.
      I think this was either just a firmware mistake or some production cost saving. Since it's a programming issue I can't see how it would have been the latter but that's not the issue. Whether the lens returns to infinity IS NOT the issue and I'm not sure how that was handled internally on previous models, but the frame lines should always be at a neutral position for the next composition. It's ridiculous to have to push the shutter release to return the frame lines before composing the next shot. NOT GOOD. The frame lines are not mechanically connected to the frame lines as in Leica M series.
      Thanks for passing this along to Fuji. I hope they correct it very soon with a firmware update. I am annoyed enough to gin up whatever social media campaign needed if this issue is ignored by Fuji. I ACTUALLY USE THE OVF. Nothing wrong with their admitting it was an oversight as long as they get it fixed. Since so few actually use the OVF I fear they may not think it's important enough. AND I would appreciate a reply from you on this since you are, THE FUJI GUYS.

      Fuji Guys Channel I’m not sure it’s “passion” as much as being a bit miffed. To test your theory that it’s something actually asked for as opposed to a mistake, I did some tests. When that last focus was on something close so the parallax corrected frame and focus box was to he bottom right, I then attempted to focus on something at infinity using the position of the focus box as is. I also placed a near subject just to the right but in the middle of the frame where the focus box would be at infinity. Even thought I had the distant subject in the focus box which was to the bottom right from the last shot, the camera focused on the nearer image to the right where the focus box SHOULD HAVE been. So the actual focus point does reset to infinity but the frame lines and focus box do not. This is not a feature, this is a problem that needs to be fixed.

    How is it going to work with ovf and 16mm lens?

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  4 года назад +1

      When you have a lens that is wider angle than 23mm, you will see arrows in the corners of the OVF to indicate the image will include area outside what you are seeing. To confirm previewing the image, quickly switch to EVF, then you can switch back to OVF.

      The EVF will show 100% of the image. The OVF will show the same view as it always does, but there is no bright frame guidelines. For a better feel is would be best for you to check it out in your local store, once it arrives, later this month.

      Thirty (30) times more sensitive than the X-Pro2, apparently.
      IMG RES has a good summary: "Autofocus has significantly improved, however. The X-Pro3's hybrid AF system is inherited from the X-T3 with up to 425 addressable AF points versus 273 for its predecessor, and the X-Pro3's phase detection autofocus is rated to work to as low as -6 EV, whereas the X-Pro2 was rated down to only -1 EV. And while the X-Pro2 offered face detection, the new model supplements this with eye-detection as well, for more pleasing focus in portrait shooting with wide-aperture lenses. There's also a new in-camera AF range limiter function offering two preset options."

    Suggestions for good lens to go with x pro 3

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  4 года назад +1

      Many people like to pair their X-Pro camera with one of the compact primes (XF16mmf2.8, XF23mmF2, XF35mmF2 or XF50mmF2). All of which are weather sealed, just like the X-Pro3

    • @fellowcitizen
      @fellowcitizen 4 года назад

      First off, everyone should get the pancake XF27mmF2.8 and the cheerful zoom XC50-230mmF/slow during Cashback season, as they can be very cheap, and provide portability and range for a very low cost.
      After that, I'd suggest a bright prime, like the XF35mmF1.4, the XF23mmF1.4, or the XF50mmF2. Then an exotic piece, like the XF14mmF2.8 or XF90mmF2

    • @adrianguggisberg3656

      My favorite lenses with the X-Pro2 are:
      1. Voigtländer Color Skopar 21mm f/4 VM
      2. XF 16mm f/1.4 WR
      3. XF 35mm f/1.4 R
      4. Leica 50mm Summicron M
      Due to a built-in defect in the finder, only two out of these four function properly with the X-Pro3: The 21mm Color Skopar and the XF 35mm f/1.4 R. Since every owner of an X-Pro camera should also own the Color Skopar, I suggest you get this rather inexpensive lens, along with the genuine Fujifilm M-Mount Adapter.
      Cheers

    • @fellowcitizen
      @fellowcitizen 4 года назад

      @@adrianguggisberg3656 The new f/3.5 version of that Color-Skopar is on my shortlist - is the old version ok in terms of smearing, colour-cast etc? If so, I'd be getting that far sooner. Having started with Voigtlaender on a NEX, I never looked back at Sony, and love Fujinon, but never use focus-by-wire manual focus - I'd love to see Fuji release some true manual glass without AF.
      P.S. Gordon Laing just released a review of the X-Pro3, and shows a comparison between the OVFs - the magnification is considerably larger on the new OVF, so although it's not as wide, the assumption that the frame would be smaller don't really hold true.

    • @adrianguggisberg3656
      @adrianguggisberg3656 4 года назад

      @@fellowcitizen The Color Skopar 21mm f/4 VM is a "film lens" and not suited for everyone. As far as I know it doesn't work well on Sony 35mm cameras. It works great on my M4 and M9, but with these cameras 21mm is too wide for my taste. 21mm is a great focal length with the X-Pro2 and the Lens works fairly well with this camera in terms of IQ. Edges and corners are rather soft, but no colour problems. It is a small lens with perfect focus and aperture controls. Great for reportage style photography and for that reason the perfect lens for the X-Pro. Nothing beats an XP2 with this lens in terms of shooting speed. It is, however, not a lens for the faint-hearted pixel counter.
      The XP3 has only one magnification, XP2 has two, one larger, the other smaller than that of the XP3. The XP3 tries to compensate this with a bigger finder, but fails miserably, unless you only shoot 23 through 35mm lenses. The Leica finder is bigger still, with higher magnification, and allows for 28-35-50-75-90-135mm bright lines, of which 28 through 75mm are practical (even though I have never owned, used or met anybody who did use a 75mm lens in 30 years of shooting Leica). The XP2 with its two magnifications displays bright lines for 18 through 135mm, of which 18 through 60mm are practical. While you need to squeeze your eyeball into the eyepiece of a Leica to use a 28mm lens, the equivalent 18mm is very comfortably usable with the XP2. The XP3 can't display bright lines for this FOV and has many other shortcomings compared to the XP2, but it does have an EVF, works with zoom lenses, does autofocus etc. So, while the XP2 remains the pinnacle of renge finder development, the XP3 is still ahead of the Leica overall, with an at least equally usable OVF.

      Fuji Guys Channel “it’s no secret?” Funny you say that, because none of the Fuji sponsored reviewers are mentioning it. Almost as if you were told not to, or you don’t want people to know...
      This camera’s shining feature has been the hybrid OVF.
      You don’t think it’s important to let people know that the OVF has now been greatly compromised, that it’s now fixed at 0.52x and what that means to users of wide angle lenses?
      To anyone who uses and relies on the OVF, it’s a big deal.

      www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/fuji-x-pro3/fuji-x-pro3A.HTM IMG-RES has a good summary:
      "In a single unit it still combines a reverse-galilean optical finder with electronic bright frame for parallax correction, and an electronic viewfinder, but there are significant changes to both. The optical finder is now more accurate than before, being manufacturer-rated at 95% coverage, rather than 92%, and it should also be both crisper and have less distortion, but with wider coverage. Magnification is now fixed at 0.52x, unlike the variable 0.36x / 0.60x magnification of the earlier OVF."

    xpro2 was nice - and yes what a disappointment - that LCD is silly. - Simply silly - so all to please some few Fuji Purists - so Xpro4 will have no Fn buttons only Manual Focus no Touch LCD - Pure Photography ??? what does that mean ??? yes many use EVF and that is fine - but how many review images in EVF??
    No DPAD so loosing 4Fn buttons - as who os is going to have LCD open when shooting via EVF - why in the world did Fuji not just leave the LCD as is ???
    Hidden LCD :). what is next Hidden buttons and dials - what about overhead shots - Impossible ! what about shooting on Tripod ???
    I really think it will be a flop in sales compared to the Xpro 2. - again what is this Pure Photography ?? so those using XT3 are not doing Pure Photography -
    dread to see the XT4 - with this hideous LCD layout with No DPAD and probable no Fn buttons etc etc
    LCD makes it stupid to try to record video - so why even bother with video - Purists are not into video - so I have a feeling video will be removed
    Slows me down :). removing Auto Focus will slow one down even more - so will that be a feature of the XPro4 - of course you Fuji guys have to sell it - I am not criticizing you - always fun to watch you guys - keep up the good work - My criticism is towards Fuji - Folks today use smartphones with LCDs - they want to have nice LCDs - therefore Nikon and others are making larger LCDs and better touch - except Fuji they are trying to remove the LCD - and yes I will hear ohh it is just the XPRO 3 - but it is a mighty costly camera to develop for just few Fuji Purists that only like EVF -
    I am not upgrading from the XPRO2 - not sure Fuji did enough market research on this - it is like making a smartphone without a LCD because there are few purists that do not like smartphones with a LCD

    Very disappointing engineering choices by Fujifilm regarding the screen, the absence of the D-PAd etc. It may be covered by lots of hipster story-setting but these choices make no sense. If you do not want to use your screen, switch it off. Why should it be this abomination that is difficult to use when needed, unsuitable for using it on a tripod etc? What's wrong with easily setting your focus point by using a D-Pad? Does it detract the shooter from the finer parts of photography? I hardly think so.
