I absolutely adore that despite Stevie being very Christian, he didn't change the lyrics of the song. A lot of Christians are offended by the concept of Johns words, but Stevie can see through that. He's true class and a true musician.
I've always understood "Imagine" as not saying that there's no God, countries or possessions. It's saying to live your life, especially in the way you treat others, as if those concepts didn't exist. For example, we all have (and enjoy!) our possessions. Certainly Lennon did. But if we have an opportunity to help others financially in a constructive way (not just throwing good money after bad, I've made that mistake), then don't be so wedded to your possessions.
I'm a Christian and absolutely love Imagine. Imagine is not offensive at all and it's not about mocking Christianity. The song doesn't imply that God doesn't exist. The liberal media turned it that way because that's what they believe and want. Lennon himself said several times it wasn't about that all. John could've said Imagine there's no Moon does it mean the Moon doesn't exist? People have always misinterpreted the song the same way they misinterpreted his Christ statement.

FireFly79 Don't you think he knew just how flawed he was? He was a flawed man that had a flawed childhood. Who is perfect? Huh? How would you like to be 5 years old and be told to choose between you mother & father? He finds out when he's a teenager that his mother was living within walking distance all that time. Then you develop a good relationship with her, and she's killed when your only 17? And of all ways, but by a car driven by an police officer who was drunk at the time. And also in front of the house your living in with her sister. His father takes off on him when he's a child, and only comes back into his life after finding out he's famous, only so John could give him some money? So yes. He was definitely a flawed man. A very flawed man who didn't know how to treat his own son correctly because that's how he learned. But he couldn't be around anyway. He was about 23 years old, and smack in the middle of Beatlemania. But according to his wife Cynthia, his aunt Mimi, George Martin, Brian Epstein, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr and all the rest of the people who loved him, he was a wonderful, loving, generous man. Paul Sullivan. I’m a huge fan of both The Beatles and John Lennon. I know all about his childhood as many fans do and I’m not surprised he had his demons and I’m not for a second taking anything away from his work as a musician or as an advocate of peace I was merely pointing out that he wasn’t without flaws. Too many people see him as some kind of messiah and ignore some of the things about him that were not so great. He was human after all but it does surprise me that someone who felt unwanted as a child would go on to make his son feel the same. I myself had a similar upbringing, I was also asked to choose between parents and felt unwanted from a young age however I’ve gone on to treat my children with all the love and respect I can humanly give and to me I can’t understand his reaction to his first child.

If people didn't listen to that message then, there is no hope that it would be heard now. I take no joy in how Lennon left this world, but a part of me is glad he never saw what it became. To think they thought things were bad int he 70s, and they were right...things were bad. But we've gone from bad into some previously undocumented 10th level of Dante's hell. He has the biggest heart. I seen him as Little Stevie in Glasgow (my first gig) Blew me away and I have loved him ever since - seen him 3 more times live. Imagine can become reality - it's down to a joint effort, down to us all.
I believe so too. If George was able to hang with Paul long enough to complete the anthology project he would have been able to do an incredible tour with the Beatles. Besides George got up the nerve to do a tour of Japan around that time too.
Who knows? MAybe. 10 years is enough time to heal whatever wounds had happened in the late 60s. I'm sure they would have worked it out, in some way. Unless you are Waters and Gilmoure.....animosity

that was just heartbreaking, a wonderful emotional tribute
Great job Mr Wonder!!!! We love you.
Don’t cry Stevie! Oh my gosh this is so great and so sad all at the same time. I know where to come to if I ever need a good cry. It wasn’t until the audience started singing that he lost it I love that about this man. He’s the real deal
So emotional to me. I'm crying. Stevie sees like it must be. It never was a secret.
this man is one of the world's great empaths. he's soaking up every feeling in there
No words for this. Just beatiful Mr. Wonder.
Stevie such a tallented sensitive good hearted human being just like MJ 2 I just love them my fav people ❤
amen brother......world live as one...
He has the biggest heart. I seen him as Little Stevie in Glasgow (my first gig) Blew me away and I have loved him ever since - seen him 3 more times live. Imagine can become reality - it's down to a joint effort, down to us all.
The Beatles would've reunited in the 90's. tours, new music .... can you IMAGINE!!!!??????
HazzMatt 5150 oh how amazing that would've been
The smartest thing they ever did was NOT reuniting. Reunions rarely do anything but taint legacies.
I believe so too. If George was able to hang with Paul long enough to complete the anthology project he would have been able to do an incredible tour with the Beatles. Besides George got up the nerve to do a tour of Japan around that time too.
swami 7774 but it's the beatles
Who knows? MAybe.
10 years is enough time to heal whatever wounds had happened in the late 60s. I'm sure they would have worked it out, in some way.
Unless you are Waters and Gilmoure.....animosity
Ahh Stevie...Such a beautiful being
One day we will all do the same with Stevie songs... hopefully a long long time away.
That was all heart Stevie! Class Act.
Wow, Stevie wonder on that adapted guitar is truly amazing, great cover, deeply emotional 👍👍
That’s really nice. It’s so nice to see a great artist like Stevie Wonder not forget the greatness of the another artist in John Lennon :)
Stevie, I cry every time, too
That was so touching so sweet a blind man hoping to see this world becomes a better place Ironic isn't it?🙏💖
God bless you Stevie. What a talented man. This is the best version I've ever seen.
