@@annabees my nurse was amazing. Was dealing with very severe perinatal anxiety at the end of my pregnancy and she somehow managed to ground me throughout birth. She was amazing! Not sure whether I pooped though 🤣

A few things I learned from my labor. 1. You may not have contractions before/after water breaking. Mine broke and had my baby 6 hours later. 2. Epidurals can hurt and they are not a miracle worker. 3. Pain can be in different forms. My was intense vomiting. 4. Fundal massage was worse than contractions. It hurts so much. 5. Pushing is exhausting and can last for hours.
Currently 39 + 1 and wishing I had found your videos sooner. Thank you for providing this information without fear mongering the hospital birth system.
I gave birth last week and was actively pushing for an hour and 45 minutes, which I knew was out of the normal range. But, I had no idea other than my OB's face to tell me that it taking another 45 minutes to deliver my placenta was odd. So, thank you for sharing that usually takes 30 minutes. I will share with the other people here that I labored with no epidural or pain meds, that the comb hack does in fact work. I held a comb during my contractions and it really did help with pain.
I LOVE when talking about contractions and you say “you’ll never have to do that contraction again.” I’ve been trying to figure out how to stay calm when a tough one gets done knowing another will come and that is SO helpful 💕
One thing that really helped me in my labor was was to remember the acronym for pain. P= It has a purpose. I didn't feel so much pain as extreme pressure. A= You can anticipate that this sensation is going to happen. I= Intermittent. You will have breaks in between contractions where you will have no pain or pressure at all and you can use this time to let your body fully relax. N= The sensations you're feeling are natural and normal. This is when I used quite a bit to keep my panic levels down. That what I was feeling was normal and that the contractions could not be stronger than I was because the contractions were from me. My baby will be 2 weeks tomorrow, as a whole my labor experience was extremely positive. I hope that your experience is the same, extremely empowering and look back upon fondly.
Just hearing you’re planning a series of videos makes me ridiculously happy. I’m 27 weeks today with my third pregnancy (1st was PPROM related stillbirth, 2nd gave me my son who is currently going on 19 months.) Even though this isn’t my first rodeo, I like watching helpful videos like this.

After 2 losses last year I gave birth to my 3rd born in August, and compared to my other traumatic births 8 and 6 years ago I felt so prepared and now have a beautiful birth memory and breezed through labor!!! I'm currently feeding my 12 day old baby girl and can I just say, thank you! Your labor toolbox, especially the breathing techniques, saved my butt! I labored for hours, then got an epidural that only worked on one side, so they replaced it while I was going through super intense contractions. I would not have managed pain of Labor nearly as well without your breathing techniques. You rock!

I had a clock in my delivery room but I was so focused on pushing my son out I didn’t pay any attention to the clock at all! also I love that you don’t care about the poop at all! Someone told me before I gave birth to push like I was pushing poop out and it was the best labor advice I got! Helped me push out my huge headed kid in an hour 😂

I puked 3 times and it's actually what got my baby out (pushing with an epidural was harder than I thought). I did the comb hack until I got my epidural and the L&D nurses asked me why I was doing it. They thought it was really cool after I explained. :)

I had a completely normal pregnancy that went to term but then my LO aspirated meconium and didn't recover normally because she had a genetic disorder that went undiagnosed for almost a month. The NICU was amazing. They saved my baby's life. I was completely blindsided by almost everything. One of the big things that I had never heard of was gtubes and how some babies may need them for different reasons coming out of the NICU. My LO did and it was a huge shock.
I ended up with a fast birth (been having contractions I thought were BH the day before). My water broke at 1am, was booked into the hospital at 2:23am and gave birth at 2:53am. I was sat in the wait room for a few minutes fully with the shakes. Definitely makes sense thay it was adrenaline!
When I had my 4th baby, my bottom wasn't off the bed enough and I pooped... My labor nurse was just standing there making a face about it and my doctor actually had to yell at her to clean it up ☹️. This was 14 years ago, I'm pregnant with my 5th now (at age 42) and I'm so worried it will happen again 😢. I pray I have a poop ninja. Lol
My childbirth Ed instructor tried SO HARD to explain to us “where your cervix goes” but bless her, was not great at explaining it… you explained it beautifully and I totally get it now!!!

I was induced, ended up with a forceps delivery. Baby’s heart rate started dipping but did recover so they continued with the oxytocin. A couple of times they had to take a blood sample from baby’s head to check her oxygen levels… this was uncomfortable but at the same time it’s amazing that they can even do that! Decision was eventually made to prep me for theatre for forceps, if that failed then they would have done a c-section. The umbilical cord also snapped from the placenta so it took quite a while for them to make sure all of the placenta was out. It was a difficult birth but I’m very grateful for the amazing doctors/midwives who took such great care of us and made quick decisions when needed. I’m from the UK if anyone is interested!
The moment you said “theater” instead of “OR”, I was sure it was UK 😃 plus UK is one of the few countries which performs an instrumental delivery in the OR. Most do it in the delivery room
@@kristina282k oh right that’s interesting I didn’t realise that. I think in my case given what happened with the placenta it was probably a good thing that I was already in theatre. I will never forget the moment they turned those bright theatre lights on, I was so scared. The team were amazing though, so well organised. They went around the room and each person explained who they were, they even had doctors from NICU on standby. I felt in very safe hands.

I have never heard anyone else say this about giving birth: the next day your body will be sore, like you did a hard workout! Maybe that’s obvious to everyone else, but I didn’t expect it. Made sense though given the prolonged strength intervals required for pushing. Interesting about losing track of time. My labor with my 3 month old was only 12 hours start to finish, and only 6 or so were significant, but even so it flew by! Felt like a couple hours at most.
"That baby feels like you're pooping either way." 😂 This exactly! I kept saying if I can use the bathroom I'll feel much better.. 5 min later we got a baby girl!

I love ur videos! I bought the comb to squeeze during labor BUT I packed them in my suitcase which was in the back of the car so I didn’t get to use them. I instead dug my nails into the palm of my hand during my contractions and it helped me so much! U helped me in my labor! Thank u!!!
I did the same! I went out and bought one that I put away in my labour bag! Had my baby 30 minutes after getting to the hospital and my bags were still in the car. I'd packed candles, a TENS machine, a comb, some hypobirthing mp3s and didn't get to use any of it
I also ended up having my baby en caul he came out completely in his bag and my dr said he’s special. I chuckled and said… I’ve known that since the moment that pregnancy test was positive 😉

Those shakes. I hated that. But it meant I was fully dilated! Also, definitely pooped and my nurse and OB were poop ninjas. 😂 I was grateful they did not draw attention to it.
I think I passed out between contractions in late labor stages, but I would 'wake up' totally normal, super aware of everything. Family didn't notice, they thought I was resting. I supose I was hearing, talking and doing things, but I don't remember.
You know... i started my pregnancy soooo frightened of birth but the many videos help so much! i am kind of excited now of what will happen and what the body does :)
The only thing that stopped my shakes was moving my head back and forth. It was so strange! My shakes were terrible my teeth chattered for hours before I figured out the head shake trick.
The thing that surprised me most about my labor was that the pushing part was the shortest. I got lucky and only pushed for 10 minutes. Had a pretty gnarly tear (don’t know what degree but the scar is thick and raised and still hurts because it has hemorrhoids in it. It’s been 12 yrs so it’s not going to get better without further surgery)

I so wish I had focused on available tools to cope with my first labor! I counted on having an epidural and did not prepare at all… but my epidural failed 😩 Now pregnant with baby number 2 and going to learn every coping technique in the book!
My sister did the same with her first baby, 6 weeks before I was due with my first. We were planning/hoping for an unmedicated birth, and had done Bradley classes. When we arrived to see her and my nephew, the first words out of her mouth were "I'D SERIOUSLY RECONSIDER THIS NATURAL BIRTH BULLS*** IF I WERE YOU! YOU HAVE NOOO IDEA!" and yes, she yelled that! When she was calmer I explained that an unmedicated labor is like running a marathon: I have been training, both physically and mentally for months. She was dropped down in the middle of the running of the bulls. It's going to be different =).
I love the" it's not normally that dramatic " lol mine was like a movie 🤣 first time mom and my water broke in bed at 4:30am. I didn't start contractions right away but like 15 or so min later it did an it escalated fas. Our hospital is 35 or so min away and I felt the need to push while we were driving. My son was born at 5:49 am. It was about 4 pushes and he was out then one push for placenta. It was crazy
I ended up having an assisted delivery, it was fine. I'd told my consultant my fears around it and she assured me. Couldn't get my push timings right and she thought I was getting tired and baby was "bungee jumping" ...
My baby was stuck after four hours of pushing - I was 10 cm dilated but she hadn’t dropped fully into the birth canal. She was finally starting to crown after 4 hours but she wasn’t progressing and I was exhausted so they did an episiotomy and used the vacuum to get her out (as well as cranking the oxytocin and lowering my epidural to make my body contract harder). Once the vacuum came into play, she was born 13 minutes later, totally happy and healthy (but with a bit of a bruise on her head that we were very careful with for a week while it healed). Recovery was quick for both of us and no damage or negative side effects.
I found this really helpful when though I've already been through labour and trust me when you think I can't do this any more that's when another one comes and you just keep going, your stronger than you think. I was in labour for around 36 hours or more and was in active labour for 23 hours, no epidural just paracetamol and pethidine, pethidine for me was a god send I loved that one because it helped me get around 3 hours sleep and that time I dilated 3cm and was woken up so they could check me and told ooh your fully dilated but need to poop 🙈 so git given some gel to help me go and the urge to push is unreal and something I'll never forget, I honestly panicked and thought baby was going to come out on the toilet so had to rush to the bed. My baby head came out with the cord around her neck bless her and was born floppy,pale and unresponsive also she struggled to take a breath back in after breathing out. My placenta didn't want to come out after two injections one in my leg the other in the cord and so they had to yank it which really hurt for me, I also had a 2nd degree tear. Nit exactly the labour and delivery I planned for my first but she's doing great and growing by the day. I was hoping for a lovely chilled pool birth lol 😆 I did guess her birth date spot on and was very close at guessing her weight too. At the beginning I thought oh I'm in labour definitely nope latent labour and it hadn't even properly began but once it did my memory is vague I remember some nurses, doctors and the surgeon but that's it most is pretty much a blurr. I did ask my boyfriend to record the birth though and I am so glad I did 😌 Just remember you got this and you can do it. One thing I did during labour was wiggle my legs which they called the belly wiggle and when I felt myself thinking I can't do this it's too painful I took a few breaths because taking a full one hurt then said calm down stress is no good for you or your baby and worked through it. P.s. gas and air didn't work for me it just made the pain worse xx
And sometimes your water doesn’t break at all! I had a precipitous labor (2 hrs) and the doctor literally reached in and broke my water as I was pushing the baby out (3 pushes) 😂😂
With my son my water broke before I had even one contraction. Unfortunately after 18 hours of labor (when my water broke) I only dilated to 5cm and needed an emergency csection. I had a planned csection with my daughter and it was glorious. The recovery was definitely more difficult but the surgery itself was great!

I thought I was peeing myself for 2 days before contractions started. Turns out my water had broken early. I spiked a fever during labor and had to take IV antibiotics. Everything turned out well, but I wish I had gone in to get checked rather than talk myself out of it because going to the hospital during a pandemic is scary.
So many things I would have loved to know with my 3 previous births. First being a uterine scrap is not typically and that the doctor HAS TOO get your consent to do this. Second if you have a super amazing super hero of a labor nurse, and your water breaks in her face as she is checking you. She will still be able to feel the cord coming out and save the day by pushing the cord back in a guiding babies head down. Third being told you can't push because doctor is not here yet makes you want to kick people in the face. 😂
I had to deliver at a hospital two hours away from where I live at Ohsu in Portland Or. due to my Von Willebrands disease, and when the attending and residents came to talk to me about pushing. I told them my plan was to try to poop because I knew it would happen anyways
There was a clock in clear view and it definitely added to the stress when I was pushing. Are we allowed to ask for things like clocks to be covered or removed when they are in plain view? I don’t even have a clock in my room for better sleep.
The sensation time loss during active labor is so real! I had a fast unmedicated birth. It took me only two hours to give birth after arriving at the hospital. I literally don’t remember the last 30 minutes of my labor. That part of my memory is completely blacked because the experience was so intense.
My last birth was under 3 hours total. My baby girl was born in my living room 45 minutes after my water broke while I waited for my sitter & ride to the hospital 😅 Crazy how the body just does what it needs to do. I had no say, I just had to catch as she was coming out whether I liked it or not 🤣
I had a really long labor and in my memory I was pushing maybe 30 minutes. I gave birth 7 years ago. I checked my notes from that time (I was trying to keep note of timing of the experience and what I was feeling whenever I could) and I was actually pushing about 1.5 hours lol I had no idea. I also remembered it wrong that they broke my water shortly after arriving to the hospital the third time (yeah I had already been in labor like 3 days) but when I read the notes back it was about 5 hours after arriving that they broke my water. I’m so glad the brain tricks you because there’s no way I would have been able to endure that much time if it registered I was going to take that long
With my daughter, my water never broke. They kept asking if I wanted them to break it, and I kept saying no, because I didn't want any interventions. But it just stayed in tact all the way until I started pushing. The dr. who delivered ending up rupturing the sack herself because it started to bulge out of my body! I wonder if they hadn't done that if she would've been born en caul. Regardless, I will be asking them to break my water next time! I know it intensifies labor, but I'm hoping it will also speed it up a bit - ha!
No one told me my midwife would PULL OUT my placenta without asking or explaining her reasoning. No one told me they would say my baby wasn't breathing, even though he was, and take him away and poke him and measure him despite me saying out loud to give him back.
That is not normal and should not happen (unless the placenta isn’t coming out on its own). I’m very sorry for your experience and I hope you have a better experience if there is a next time.
It's funny because my water broke like it does in the movies, which was the last thing I expected lol. I was thinking I'd probably have no idea when to go to the hospital. Nope, I roll over in bed and pop! Huge gush. It was nuts lol. Thankfully contractions weren't intense till after I was already checked in at the hospital.
I have significant white coat hypertension that has me very nervous about what will happen during labor. BP is normal in every other situation I've tested it in including at work in the ED, my range tends to be 110/65 to 125/85. I guess I just get ridiculously stressed at the doctors office as it's always been the case even as a teenager. I'm afraid they will see my blood pressure and start me on IV Labetalol causing my BP to crash once I relax. Any tips?
My doctor was not careful with my placenta.. I just pushed out my baby and they just pulled it out to the point I was extremely uncomfortable.. I didn't have a moment to collect myself.
Time going SO RIDICULOUSLY fast is so true, haha! My waters broke on Wednesday evening. No pre warnings. He was already two weeks late and I was due to be induced on Friday anyway. Immediately I had super painful contractions every 10 minutes (he was back to back) and POOOOOF just like that it was Friday morning 9 am and I was STILL going. But he was not positioned right, my dilation wasn't progressing enough and his heart beat started dropping so I ended up with an emergency C Section!
Inductions lead to c sections almost always unless you have a decent hospital that actually lets your body labor. My first hospital birth they only gave me 10 hours and I got to a 7. They said no not progressing enough and did an emergency c section. Same hospital years later another induction 10 hours at a 7 and rushed to do another c section. Ruined my chance to have a la rge family.
My labor was the complete opposite with the time management I was in labor for two hours rapid labor and 32 minutes of pushing but I thought it was like 6-8 hours 😂
Hi Nurse Zabe 😊 Did not know about the 10 cm and did not know most women get the opportunity to approve use of forceps 😭 with my first I was told it was not an option 💔
Before my first birth I watched a lot videos and I knew there was a possibility of pooping while birthing and that was never a concern for me. What I want to mention though and what happened to me is actually peeing while pushing. Which my OB also said was a sign I was pushing right. But just wanted to point out that peeing during push stage is also a thing xD
My water broke and I had stop and start labour for 52hrs before going in for Pitocin! It was long and intense, and about 6hrs after starting pitocin I got an epidural that didn't work super well but I did get some rest when I go the epidural!
Something I wish someone had told me was to bring ear plugs to the hospital if your a light sleeper. I had a long epidural labor and the machines were so loud I couldn't sleep. By the time my daughter was born I had been awake for over 30 hours and was so exhausted I hardly even remember her being put on my chest. I'm so devastated now because as a single mom who was alone in hospital I only had the energy to take a couple of not great photos. So ladies bring ear plugs.
Is there an update on pregnancy and covid-19? Any information about vaccinated pregnant persons getting covid? Have you had any such patients? Are their and baby’s outcomes the same or different from those that are unvaccinated? I’ve read loads of articles about pregnant mums either before the vaccine or now unvaccinated who got covid and it was not good.

When I had my 4th baby, my bottom wasn't off the bed enough and I pooped... My labor nurse was just standing there making a face about it and my doctor actually had to yell at her to clean it up ☹️. This was 14 years ago, I'm pregnant with my 5th now (at age 42) and I'm so worried it will happen again 😢. I pray I have a poop ninja. Lol
My childbirth Ed instructor tried SO HARD to explain to us “where your cervix goes” but bless her, was not great at explaining it… you explained it beautifully and I totally get it now!!!

I was induced, ended up with a forceps delivery. Baby’s heart rate started dipping but did recover so they continued with the oxytocin. A couple of times they had to take a blood sample from baby’s head to check her oxygen levels… this was uncomfortable but at the same time it’s amazing that they can even do that! Decision was eventually made to prep me for theatre for forceps, if that failed then they would have done a c-section. The umbilical cord also snapped from the placenta so it took quite a while for them to make sure all of the placenta was out. It was a difficult birth but I’m very grateful for the amazing doctors/midwives who took such great care of us and made quick decisions when needed. I’m from the UK if anyone is interested!
The moment you said “theater” instead of “OR”, I was sure it was UK 😃 plus UK is one of the few countries which performs an instrumental delivery in the OR. Most do it in the delivery room
@@kristina282k oh right that’s interesting I didn’t realise that. I think in my case given what happened with the placenta it was probably a good thing that I was already in theatre. I will never forget the moment they turned those bright theatre lights on, I was so scared. The team were amazing though, so well organised. They went around the room and each person explained who they were, they even had doctors from NICU on standby. I felt in very safe hands.

I have never heard anyone else say this about giving birth: the next day your body will be sore, like you did a hard workout! Maybe that’s obvious to everyone else, but I didn’t expect it. Made sense though given the prolonged strength intervals required for pushing.
Interesting about losing track of time. My labor with my 3 month old was only 12 hours start to finish, and only 6 or so were significant, but even so it flew by! Felt like a couple hours at most.

I love ur videos! I bought the comb to squeeze during labor BUT I packed them in my suitcase which was in the back of the car so I didn’t get to use them. I instead dug my nails into the palm of my hand during my contractions and it helped me so much! U helped me in my labor! Thank u!!!
I did the same! I went out and bought one that I put away in my labour bag! Had my baby 30 minutes after getting to the hospital and my bags were still in the car. I'd packed candles, a TENS machine, a comb, some hypobirthing mp3s and didn't get to use any of it
I also ended up having my baby en caul he came out completely in his bag and my dr said he’s special. I chuckled and said… I’ve known that since the moment that pregnancy test was positive 😉

Those shakes. I hated that. But it meant I was fully dilated! Also, definitely pooped and my nurse and OB were poop ninjas. 😂 I was grateful they did not draw attention to it.

I think I passed out between contractions in late labor stages, but I would 'wake up' totally normal, super aware of everything. Family didn't notice, they thought I was resting. I supose I was hearing, talking and doing things, but I don't remember.

The only thing that stopped my shakes was moving my head back and forth. It was so strange! My shakes were terrible my teeth chattered for hours before I figured out the head shake trick.
The thing that surprised me most about my labor was that the pushing part was the shortest. I got lucky and only pushed for 10 minutes. Had a pretty gnarly tear (don’t know what degree but the scar is thick and raised and still hurts because it has hemorrhoids in it. It’s been 12 yrs so it’s not going to get better without further surgery)

I so wish I had focused on available tools to cope with my first labor! I counted on having an epidural and did not prepare at all… but my epidural failed 😩 Now pregnant with baby number 2 and going to learn every coping technique in the book!
My sister did the same with her first baby, 6 weeks before I was due with my first. We were planning/hoping for an unmedicated birth, and had done Bradley classes. When we arrived to see her and my nephew, the first words out of her mouth were "I'D SERIOUSLY RECONSIDER THIS NATURAL BIRTH BULLS*** IF I WERE YOU! YOU HAVE NOOO IDEA!" and yes, she yelled that! When she was calmer I explained that an unmedicated labor is like running a marathon: I have been training, both physically and mentally for months. She was dropped down in the middle of the running of the bulls. It's going to be different =).
I love the" it's not normally that dramatic " lol mine was like a movie 🤣 first time mom and my water broke in bed at 4:30am. I didn't start contractions right away but like 15 or so min later it did an it escalated fas. Our hospital is 35 or so min away and I felt the need to push while we were driving. My son was born at 5:49 am. It was about 4 pushes and he was out then one push for placenta. It was crazy
Can you do a video on forceps and vacuums during birth? I’ve only ever heard about bad experiences with them.
I ended up having an assisted delivery, it was fine. I'd told my consultant my fears around it and she assured me.
Couldn't get my push timings right and she thought I was getting tired and baby was "bungee jumping" ...
My baby was stuck after four hours of pushing - I was 10 cm dilated but she hadn’t dropped fully into the birth canal. She was finally starting to crown after 4 hours but she wasn’t progressing and I was exhausted so they did an episiotomy and used the vacuum to get her out (as well as cranking the oxytocin and lowering my epidural to make my body contract harder). Once the vacuum came into play, she was born 13 minutes later, totally happy and healthy (but with a bit of a bruise on her head that we were very careful with for a week while it healed). Recovery was quick for both of us and no damage or negative side effects.
I found this really helpful when though I've already been through labour and trust me when you think I can't do this any more that's when another one comes and you just keep going, your stronger than you think. I was in labour for around 36 hours or more and was in active labour for 23 hours, no epidural just paracetamol and pethidine, pethidine for me was a god send I loved that one because it helped me get around 3 hours sleep and that time I dilated 3cm and was woken up so they could check me and told ooh your fully dilated but need to poop 🙈 so git given some gel to help me go and the urge to push is unreal and something I'll never forget, I honestly panicked and thought baby was going to come out on the toilet so had to rush to the bed. My baby head came out with the cord around her neck bless her and was born floppy,pale and unresponsive also she struggled to take a breath back in after breathing out. My placenta didn't want to come out after two injections one in my leg the other in the cord and so they had to yank it which really hurt for me, I also had a 2nd degree tear. Nit exactly the labour and delivery I planned for my first but she's doing great and growing by the day. I was hoping for a lovely chilled pool birth lol 😆 I did guess her birth date spot on and was very close at guessing her weight too. At the beginning I thought oh I'm in labour definitely nope latent labour and it hadn't even properly began but once it did my memory is vague I remember some nurses, doctors and the surgeon but that's it most is pretty much a blurr. I did ask my boyfriend to record the birth though and I am so glad I did 😌 Just remember you got this and you can do it. One thing I did during labour was wiggle my legs which they called the belly wiggle and when I felt myself thinking I can't do this it's too painful I took a few breaths because taking a full one hurt then said calm down stress is no good for you or your baby and worked through it. P.s. gas and air didn't work for me it just made the pain worse xx
And sometimes your water doesn’t break at all! I had a precipitous labor (2 hrs) and the doctor literally reached in and broke my water as I was pushing the baby out (3 pushes) 😂😂
With my son my water broke before I had even one contraction. Unfortunately after 18 hours of labor (when my water broke) I only dilated to 5cm and needed an emergency csection. I had a planned csection with my daughter and it was glorious. The recovery was definitely more difficult but the surgery itself was great!

I thought I was peeing myself for 2 days before contractions started. Turns out my water had broken early. I spiked a fever during labor and had to take IV antibiotics. Everything turned out well, but I wish I had gone in to get checked rather than talk myself out of it because going to the hospital during a pandemic is scary.
I had my first 3 months ago. And yes, you’re right. You have no idea what time it is even though you can see the clock right in front of you.

So many things I would have loved to know with my 3 previous births. First being a uterine scrap is not typically and that the doctor HAS TOO get your consent to do this. Second if you have a super amazing super hero of a labor nurse, and your water breaks in her face as she is checking you. She will still be able to feel the cord coming out and save the day by pushing the cord back in a guiding babies head down. Third being told you can't push because doctor is not here yet makes you want to kick people in the face. 😂

I had to deliver at a hospital two hours away from where I live at Ohsu in Portland Or. due to my Von Willebrands disease, and when the attending and residents came to talk to me about pushing. I told them my plan was to try to poop because I knew it would happen anyways
Placenta was never a thought, all three times it just came out on the next contraction
There was a clock in clear view and it definitely added to the stress when I was pushing. Are we allowed to ask for things like clocks to be covered or removed when they are in plain view? I don’t even have a clock in my room for better sleep.

I have a question for first time mothers when you lose the mucus plug how long until you go into labor?
The sensation time loss during active labor is so real! I had a fast unmedicated birth. It took me only two hours to give birth after arriving at the hospital. I literally don’t remember the last 30 minutes of my labor. That part of my memory is completely blacked because the experience was so intense.
My last birth was under 3 hours total. My baby girl was born in my living room 45 minutes after my water broke while I waited for my sitter & ride to the hospital 😅
Crazy how the body just does what it needs to do. I had no say, I just had to catch as she was coming out whether I liked it or not 🤣
I had a really long labor and in my memory I was pushing maybe 30 minutes. I gave birth 7 years ago. I checked my notes from that time (I was trying to keep note of timing of the experience and what I was feeling whenever I could) and I was actually pushing about 1.5 hours lol I had no idea. I also remembered it wrong that they broke my water shortly after arriving to the hospital the third time (yeah I had already been in labor like 3 days) but when I read the notes back it was about 5 hours after arriving that they broke my water. I’m so glad the brain tricks you because there’s no way I would have been able to endure that much time if it registered I was going to take that long
With my daughter, my water never broke. They kept asking if I wanted them to break it, and I kept saying no, because I didn't want any interventions. But it just stayed in tact all the way until I started pushing. The dr. who delivered ending up rupturing the sack herself because it started to bulge out of my body! I wonder if they hadn't done that if she would've been born en caul. Regardless, I will be asking them to break my water next time! I know it intensifies labor, but I'm hoping it will also speed it up a bit - ha!

No one told me my midwife would PULL OUT my placenta without asking or explaining her reasoning.
No one told me they would say my baby wasn't breathing, even though he was, and take him away and poke him and measure him despite me saying out loud to give him back.
That is not normal and should not happen (unless the placenta isn’t coming out on its own). I’m very sorry for your experience and I hope you have a better experience if there is a next time.
It's funny because my water broke like it does in the movies, which was the last thing I expected lol. I was thinking I'd probably have no idea when to go to the hospital. Nope, I roll over in bed and pop! Huge gush. It was nuts lol. Thankfully contractions weren't intense till after I was already checked in at the hospital.
I have significant white coat hypertension that has me very nervous about what will happen during labor. BP is normal in every other situation I've tested it in including at work in the ED, my range tends to be 110/65 to 125/85. I guess I just get ridiculously stressed at the doctors office as it's always been the case even as a teenager.
I'm afraid they will see my blood pressure and start me on IV Labetalol causing my BP to crash once I relax. Any tips?

My doctor was not careful with my placenta.. I just pushed out my baby and they just pulled it out to the point I was extremely uncomfortable.. I didn't have a moment to collect myself.
Time going SO RIDICULOUSLY fast is so true, haha! My waters broke on Wednesday evening. No pre warnings. He was already two weeks late and I was due to be induced on Friday anyway. Immediately I had super painful contractions every 10 minutes (he was back to back) and POOOOOF just like that it was Friday morning 9 am and I was STILL going. But he was not positioned right, my dilation wasn't progressing enough and his heart beat started dropping so I ended up with an emergency C Section!

Inductions lead to c sections almost always unless you have a decent hospital that actually lets your body labor. My first hospital birth they only gave me 10 hours and I got to a 7. They said no not progressing enough and did an emergency c section. Same hospital years later another induction 10 hours at a 7 and rushed to do another c section. Ruined my chance to have a la rge family.
That’s highly inaccurate. You can still have a large family with csections.

What the heck is a birthing person if not a pregnant woman?
Before my first birth I watched a lot videos and I knew there was a possibility of pooping while birthing and that was never a concern for me. What I want to mention though and what happened to me is actually peeing while pushing. Which my OB also said was a sign I was pushing right. But just wanted to point out that peeing during push stage is also a thing xD
My water was broken for me both times 🙁 I so badly want to experience it breaking naturally ..
My water broke and I had stop and start labour for 52hrs before going in for Pitocin! It was long and intense, and about 6hrs after starting pitocin I got an epidural that didn't work super well but I did get some rest when I go the epidural!
Something I wish someone had told me was to bring ear plugs to the hospital if your a light sleeper. I had a long epidural labor and the machines were so loud I couldn't sleep. By the time my daughter was born I had been awake for over 30 hours and was so exhausted I hardly even remember her being put on my chest. I'm so devastated now because as a single mom who was alone in hospital I only had the energy to take a couple of not great photos.
So ladies bring ear plugs.
Is there an update on pregnancy and covid-19? Any information about vaccinated pregnant persons getting covid? Have you had any such patients? Are their and baby’s outcomes the same or different from those that are unvaccinated? I’ve read loads of articles about pregnant mums either before the vaccine or now unvaccinated who got covid and it was not good.
