Nice ! I’m doing a light restoration on a red x mallet , plumbers neck , I am going to apply this finish to that SC . I had to remove the o original charcoal finish , thanks for the process reference .
I’m working on a Scotty Cameron TE I3 right now. I think the body is made of carbon steel, and has a black oxide finish. I want to remove the finish it has now so I can torch finish it, but I’m not sure how to remove the finish. Should I try bathing it in an acid.
I will never understand people taking these 100$'s and even 1000$'s worth of putters, pulling the head cover, and just toss them in the bag like it's a Wilson wedge u found in the basement
Or the ole fratty “prank “ of the cart bag strap , for launch at go . Yeah , that hilarious prank will do some hideousness to an uncovered SC putter in the putter quick access slot on bag . Funny how that prank never happens when the covers are on . That’s some friend of a few decades “friend divorce “ lol ! Personally , I think had it not said SC and Ping drivers, there’s the issue of unadulterated “bag & sticks envy . Or more than likely straight up alcoholism , upon an already , extremely ridiculous person . No worries though , I have always like custom finishes on anything that still gets the job done . But other than my yarn , yeah , who does that to a club ? Pick up truck full of knuckle heads in the cab , bags in the bed . Cheers
Hi there, looking fir some advice if you dont mind. Started messing around with polishing old golf clubs with sisal and dinim wheels. What grit did you use on this carbon steel putter. Thanks in advance. Regards Bob Miller
I’m about to do this myself and was wondering if the shiny finish showed at the end is actually what it turned out like or if it just looks shiny bc it’s oiled
The glass beads smooth out imperfections in the head. Depending on the type used, they give a very polished look. They also help prep the putter for when I do certain finishes.
This looks great! How durable is just the gun bluing after the penetrating oil without a protective coat on it? Does the darker color wear away the more you use the putter, mainly on the bottom where it would interact with the ground?
Good question! Yes like any finish if it’s not looked after it’ll wear away over time. You can make the finish last while oiling the sole mostly because like you said that’s where the where and tear is. If you don’t oil.. not that the finish will wear faster it’ll just be exposed to moisture and potentially lead to rust
Problem with Cold blue is it only looks dark and glossy if theres a thick layer of oil on it like you have on the end. Otherwise it's more dull and gray. I'm still looking for that glossy dark permanent finish.
Super nice looking finish! Awesome job.
Awesome job!
stunning job yet again

thanks for sharing this, I am playing around with refurbishing some old carbon steel nickel plated putters and this should be a good finish to try

Hey! Can You tell where can I find this kind of polishing wheel? Great work!

Well done!!
Does the paint fill at the end on the circle stick well after being oiled with the WD40
Yes! Trick is to clean out the lettering/symbols with acetone prior to paintfill. After applying 2-3 thin coats, the paint is very durable.

nice work.
Stunning and a true artisan
Beautiful!
Would look sick with a gold or brushed bronze paint fill on the lettering
What beads would you recommend using for a stock finish?
I have a SC putter that is gun metal with a copper face insert. Have you ever restored one of these?
Yes we’ve done a bunch.
That looks amazing
awesome job
Is this possible without the nickel bath?
Do you have Amazon link to the solution you use?
Hey awesome stuff. Was just wondering what the blaster cabinet does exactly?

What about the “Black Pearl” finish that was stock on Studio Design?
I don't do that finish, but I've received putters with it
Thank you for sharing!
Awesome job! If you torch and oil, and want to torch more (going from purple to blue) are there any steps to prep besides the acetone and goo gone?
I heat the head for about 5 min all over with a heat gun before torching, I find that it heats the putter up nicely so it changes color more uniform
could you dip it ?

Does this process work with the Caswell Stainless Steel darkener as well?
Tbh. I’m not sure I have not tried stainless steel darkener
@@scratchlessputters I've used caswell carbon and ss black oxide finish solutions, they perform very similarly.
Look into Cerakote
I have a Tad Moore Putter will this blueing stop it rusting
No the finish is still prone to rust/wear and tear. Keeping the head dry or wiping it after rainy conditions will help on the rust front
@@scratchlessputters could you apply clear coat over the finish to avoid the wear and rusting?
That looks sweet
This should work on satin finished irons that aren’t chrome plated as well, no?
not too sure
How much does it cost
Awesome.
Why not dip it into the gunmetal liquid instead of brushing it on?
Why would you not dunk the piece in the Blue rather than brush the Blue onto the piece?
Please do not get the heat gun too close to the acetone, its extremely volatile.
Why don’t you just soak the putter head in the gun metal solution?
I don't get as even a finish versus brushing it on
Mate, you do a great job but you speak at 33 and a third! Switched of!
걍 조용히 하고 복원이나 하지 뭐 이렇게 말이 많아
A nice look, but you lost all the milling off the face... 🧐
That’s how the older scotty Cameron’s are made, they never had deep milled versions until later on
Please change the language to Indonesian...
What brand deburring wheel is that? Looks very dense compared to other wheels?
3M
Great work!
Thank you! Cheers!
