What if you didnt beadblast? Would the powder coating still adhere?
By the way an article on Scottie Cameron states that Scottie went to Target and got a bunch of different caulk brands and settled on GE Tub and Tile Caulk for these Teryllium putters.

Hello there. Watching from the UK 🇬🇧 Videos are great , very informative and your putters look amazing. I’m a joiner by trade and a keen golfer. Just bought a nice bench grinder , some mops, wax and a de burr wheel. Have tried a couple of ping mang. bronze putters and got them to a lovely polished finish. Just bought a battered old Spalding TPM 7 , would like to try my first torched finish, would you say you have to do the sand blast ? (I have nothing to do that with yet). I was going to try for a high polish finish before torching , will some of the shine survive torching , many thanks 🏌🏻♂️😊
how much was that milling machine ?! and was it made for that or no?
Milling machines can be bought used for a few thousand dollars and are general purpose tools - not specific to milling clubs.
@@poetac15 nice. Are there cheaper ones that can do stuff like mill a sight dot on a putter or maybe re-mill a putter face type shit?
@@travism3510 there are plenty of lower end options but they typically lack rigidity. A center dot can be drilled with a cheap drill press and a fixture. Milling a face truly flat is much more equipment intensive.
Wow! Fantastic job! I want to correct my Scotty Cameron phantom x which is black and has some chips along the top front edge. What kind of paint should I use? Acrylic flat?

I’m working on a Scotty Cameron TE I3 right now. I think the body is made of carbon steel, and has a black oxide finish. I want to remove the finish it has now so I can torch finish it, but I’m not sure how to remove the finish. Should I try bathing it in an acid.
I’ve got a 1998 Newport 2, gunna give it a shot, what kind of deburring wheels should I use?

What type of oil?
I use a 1:1 mixture of 2-stroke cycle (blue) dye and penetrating oil

Will the heating and cooling not affect the hardness of the steel. Is it carbon steel or stainless steel?
it's carbon steel, and the putter cools after to return to normal
@@scratchlessputters from what I know quenching will make the steel harder and hence affect the feel and sound

Absolutely NOT!!! The insert inside will melt and you will ruin the entire thing.
Paint remover is quick and fast
Where do i get that buffing pad, I bought one from ebay but it was so hard it had sparks coming off my golf club

If you must wear gloves when using a buffing mop make sure they're close fitting, those ones you use are just asking to catch the mop and pull your hands into it.
What kind of finish would you get if you just heat the head with heat gun then dip it in oil? Would it give it a dark oil finish?
Looks nice but the face milling is botched.
I had one of these Laguna putters and traded it in back in the early 2000s like a fool.

That looks so good. But I don't think this is a DIY job. This takes skill and equipment. Actually, I think the putter looked great right after the sandblasting.
Thank you! It was definitely a learning process. Prob a couple hundred in equipment between the powdercoating gun, wheels and sandblaster. But I got most stuff at Harbor Freight
How did the epoxy not heat up with all that heat and the putter head not come loose?
It does at the base of the shaft. I have to clean out and reglue the head once it's finished
Use a corrosion inhibitor or gun oil. WD-40 will not last and is technically a solvent.
I have a x9 that uses 303 stainless and 6061 aircraft aluminum. Which should I use on the aluminum ?
@@trav-c137 stainless and aluminum won’t necessarily corrode. They could have galvanic corrosion but that would require submersion in something like salt water or exposure to very humid air. Just keep it clean and it will be fine.

You do these if I were to pay you I have a VERY valuable putter that the oilcan finish is wearing away I’m scared to try something like this it’s about 30 yrs old not terrible looking but it would be awesome if it was redone
Does it have to be used motor oil? And how much blue dye did you need to add roughly for this finish? Looking to do a DIY soon.
Golf is extremely boring
Just pour the enamel into the engraving and wipe, by stipling you cause uneven texture in the enamel. That’s how they were originally done, nobody hand painted them because the flow of the enamel should be even. I’ve literally never scratched the paint using a rag. Just don’t use a piece of crap …
