George Lucas was a big fan of family guy at the time, so when Seth McFarlane asked to parody the movies, George basically said "go nuts"
God bless George Lucas😌
@@shawnngnosse2070 i can't imagine disney allowing parody of their property at this time
Imagine they did the Sequal trilogy and cast Meg as Rey Skywalker and through out the trilogy was just Meg being bullied 😂@@danzansandeev6033
he was always cool with parody, if it was good. Seth got a lot of ip into family guy. start trek a plenty, the sound of music, and so many old cartoons.

Fun part about the actual movies: when questioned about the whole Lando wearing Han's clothes thing, Billy Dee Williams, Lando's actor, actually said they were lovers. It's a little cheeky but it's a fun response.
I had always assumed space hobo. Dude just left his entire everything back on Bespin. Fortune AND wardrobe. Assuming its been a few days for the hyperspace trip, dude needed to launder what he was wearing eventually, and its not like Han is there to tell him to not to.
Oh my fukin god….
@@illogicalbear6200 Exactlywhat I thought
Is it crazy that this was actually my first introduction to Star Wars as a kid before I even saw the original live action movies
Same lol. It's pretty funny and it makes seeing the actual movies kinda more funny.
Sometimes it's parodies or associates properties that get you into stuff. BG3 was my formal introduction to D&D.
For me it's the Phineas and ferb parody
And i still never watched any star wars movie/series
Exept me and my sister watching a few episodes of the mandalorion
As someone who grew up watching the actual movies and the clone wars series, and some of the old Lego shows on Cartoon Network and Disney XD, someone telling me their first time watching Star Wars was through Family Guy amuses me. No shame in it I just find it so foreign.
Mine was the animated clone wars. I even bought a clone trooper before it came out. My parents noticed the hype and tried to watch it.
They saw the family guy version by mistake.
i always forget how many airplane referees there are in the first one.
They need to watch airplane, I was upset they didn't get the references
And how they're the only actually funny jokes.
Maybe Seth MacFarlane should have just gotten Jim Abrams and the Zucker Brothers to write these.
I love how McFarlane and Green just shit on each other back to back and continue to this day. That right there is a true friendship
It can be a bit uncalled for sometimes tho
Blue Harvest is actually the project name for Return Of The Jedi to protect it from paparazzi & overcharging suppliers
This is the correct answer. Fun Fact, Episode 2 was called "Jar Jar's Great Adventure" as a middle finger to toxic fans.
@@Grigsynever understood the hate for my boy, he was probably the funniest character in the whole series
@@choporchubbzda1They made Jar Jar's role too prominent that's what made him kinda annoying. But he weren't that bad
@@lancekemal8989 Agreed. It would've been fine if he was a minor comic relief character. But his prominence throughout the movie made him unbearably obnoxious. It resulted in his shtick quickly outstaying its welcome. Especially if that whole "him being a sith" thing was initially true, because it means that having to endure his presence throughout Episode 1 never even got the payoff that was intended in the later films. Which retroactively only makes his presence in Episode 1 worse. At least if that sith story had actually panned out, you could go back to Episode 1 and forgive his role in that film for what it really was.
@@choporchubbzda1 "Jar Jar is the key to everything" -actual quote from George Lucas
Actually, Stormtroopers did start off as clone troopers but the empire slowly phased them out with citizens from across the galaxy who enlisted to serve.
Yeah, with most clones being keep home to train their own replacement Stormtroopers. I think mostly just Clone Commandos saw any action in the early days of the Empire, maybe some Troopers got to be guards. EDIT: The 501st did become a division called Vader's Fist but I believe a good number of them were on the first Death Star soooo....
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
I also recommend Robot Chicken Star Wars

...Stoormtrooper.

Phineas and Ferb have a two part Star Wars special!! It's amazing meta humor, and has musical numbers (because P&F) that you never knew you needed in your life! I would love to see y'all react to that one!
I would love to see it too
As I was watching this, one of my first thoughts were "I'd much rather watch their reaction to the P&F specials".
Cause we love Tatooine
HELL YEAH
Love that movie, hope they watch it!
Peter bringing that couch with him is a joke that still live rent-free in my brain, it's not THAT good a joke, but it gets me every time!
To answer you're stormtrooper question.
The clones were fazed out and replaced with conscripted or volunteer soldiers.
Darth Vader was the only person who had clones as Stormtroopers called Vader's Fist formally known as the 501st.
The only clone we know we see during the OT is Boba Fett. But of course, that was retconned.
There was one rebel soldier on Endor who was retconned into being Clone Commander Rex
@@needude7218 I think that was retconned again to it's not Rex. I think Filoni thought the idea was cool, but the dude was already a character that had his own name and lore in other media. So Filoni decided against it.
Fun Fact about the Robot Chicken star wars parodies; Seth Macfarlane voices Palpatine
"my lord." "stormtrooper." "my lord." "stormtropppperir". "my lord." "go fuck yourself." that bit is hilarious.
AND THEN I THREW THE SENATE AT HIM!
@@omegastar19THE WHOLE SENATE! ... true story ...
"You made it come out of my nooooose😂"
22:00 That was a reference to the 1980s movie Airplane.
I died laughing! why did they just pull that out of nowhere?!?!?!!?!? X,D
An interesting thing that Family Guy got wrong in their adaptation which most fans actually get wrong, Luke didn't want to leave Tatooine to fight the Empire, he wanted to join them. He said he wanted to go to train as a pilot at the academy, he wanted to go to an Imperial Academy to train as a TIE fighter pilot like a lot of his friends.
Does that mean he might have offed some of his friends later in life?
Sir Alec Guinness played old Obi Wan in the original trilogy. He allegedly didn't care much for that role; not hate it outright, but he still considered it a step down from his previous work.
Harrison Ford wasn't familiar with "space science fiction" either, and found the script too cheesy ,or cringey, to take seriously:
"George, you can type this shit, but you sure can't say it"
And that's why Han got a lame death in TFA??? Ffs Ford...
@@Benji568
J.J. Abrams directed that one, so you might wanna ask him; honestly, I'd take anything "cheesy" written by Lucas over any of the crap made up by Abrams, or Rian Johnson. 😠
@@MrJamaigar I heard Ford say in interviews that he was his request to kill Han off in TFA.
I still don’t know how Lucas got legendary actors Peter Cushing and Alec Guiness to do this movie. 🤷🏻♂️
Even mark hamil had a few issues with the writing , considering it to be some of the most convoluted stuff that he ever had to actually pronounce on camera
I wouldn't mind you watching the Robot Chicken Star Wars special aswell.
Also Blue Harvest was the working title for I think Empire Strikes Back because they wanted to keep it under wraps that they were making another Star Wars movie to avoid leaks.
It was Return Of The Jedi
Does Blue Harvest have any meaning or is it just a reference to the blue milk?
@@silverthehero1295 I think its just a generic name meant to fool people into thinking it could be another movie.
Alwats hated the "I think the Cleveland Show is gonna do the prequels" because we never got it. The show was underrated, and kinda tackled serious topics better than FG.

R2 pulling out the glock was the best moment, perfect choice
The death star explosion with the energy ring was added by lucas during one of his many re-releases and edits. The original was just a classic practical explosion. It's called the Praxis effect because it appeared in Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country in 1996, when that planet exploded. The effect was so well done for its time that it became ubiquitous in sci-fi explosions
as a star wars nerd id like to point out that a parsec is indeed a unit of distance, the impressive part is that han found a new route that was way shorter but hella dangerous, thank you for coming to my ted talk

These guys definitely gotta watch Airplane! sometime
Unless thry have,

Family Guy did an episode based on the plot of Back to the Future Part 1, but nothing else.
Yeah I don’t think Zemeckis and Gale would approve something like this with Back to the Future. They’re very protective of the property.
21:42 is my favorite part of all the family guy starwars.
28:36 They did a fuckin' cutaway mid-titles.
As a wheelchair user, that whole "Oh wow, now you hate the disabled" cracked me up! 🤣😂
1:09:04 I love how Sorta Stupid made this joke when they originally watched RotJ! 😂
The robot chicken one is also really great
There's another Star Wars parody that was made a couple years before the Family Guy series.
It's called "Thumb Wars" and was made by Steve Odekirk (the guy who made Jimmy Neutron and Kung Pow: Enter the Chicken)
My explanation for Lando wearing Han's clothes is that he had to abandon cloud city with just the clothes he was wearing so, being on the Falcon, Han's clothing was all he could change into.
45:00 That reaction from Ruff was priceless 😂💀
Cleveland R2 packing heat on that TIE fighter, and OG R2 going on a taser rampage at the Ewoks
You guys have to watch airplane
25:16 "Airplane" joke, so was the Leslie Nielsen bit.
Hey guys "Blue Harvest" was the original production name of Episode 6 Return of the Jedi, to keep it a secret
No clones were mostly phased out at that point, there might have been one or two around as training instructors but they'd be as old or older than boba fett.
"We Kiss Your Dad" 😂
27:33 "YEAAHH!!!" 😂😂 Perfect timing
49:59 Without a Paddle is still one of my top 50 favorite movies. Maybe in the low 30s, but I also assume the stars were.
Bin Laden was killed almost a week before that third episode was released on tv. They simply cut the joke from airing.
These episodes are from the "middle years" of Family Guy. Everyone is kinda flanderized here, especially Peter as Han Solo.
1:06:03 In case you're wondering, yes, bears can be cannibalistic, but it's extremely rare.
yall kept saying what to the AIRPLANE bits, if yall have not seen that you totally should. one of the funniest movies ever.
Nah seriously. If you hired me to take you to a another country. I wind up shot at by soldiers in a battleship, nearly die in a compacter and in danger of attacked by warlord, trying to stage a prison rescue. And then going to a third country. If instead of being happy I didn't just leave you somewhere, you get pissy I leave after my job is over would over. I might just start fighting on the spot, forget coming back to rescue you.
now do an reaction video to family guy show reaction video🙏
You missed both Airplane references I see. You definitely need to watch that movie for a good laugh
Good luck. We're all counting on you.
Ruff: Whenever we do a show, we should pick a character randomly and just get their names wrong
Ben 10 fans with a grudge: Way Big is not ATOMIX, YOU MOTHERF-
For any viewers who don't know: Seth Green is the voice actor for Chris Griffin (Luke) and Neil Goldman (Lando). Seth is also the co-creator and co-producer of Robot Chicken. Some of the "is"s may now be "was"s, but I'm not going to research that timing for a simple post. The two are friends.
Fun side: In The German dub we had our VA for Hamill as the VA for Quagmire, which gave things an interesting note LOL
41:15 Shut up Meg😂😂😂
39:27 How's Ruff doing over there, guys? 😂😂
I might sound crazy, but lois with leias hair does things to me.
You should watch Andor and Rogue One! Those are the best things Disney Star Wars has made, and by a wiiiiide margin.
Y'all need to watch Airplane. Probably should have before this
Unless they are missing the reference on purpose
given how much they admit they pretend to get things wrong.
They might know airplane
Carrie Fisher is a reoccurring voice actress in Family Guy. So cool connection.
R.I.P Peter's boss, Angela 😔
So idk if this happened for anyone else so at 22:45 when he says please take a moment to watch this instructional video an ad popped up exactly as he said that abd it was so meta for me😂
24:05 what I find so funny is that for the entire first 2 movies Han is like “hey I need money to go pay jabba or he’s going to hunt me down” and everyone’s like “fuck you for leaving asshole”
I genuinely think this was the best of family guys series.
The main thing i got from this, ya'll need to watch Airplane!.
Dude, no way you didn't get a single "Airplane" reference! Surely you can't be serious!
Please put it on the list, it is definitely one of the greatest comedy films ever made.
Here’s your answer to whether they used an orchestra: These episodes just used the soundtrack recordings from the original films, but all the music written for the show is performed by real musicians.
39:08 yep, that's freakin H. Jon Benjamin, Archer's voice actor. 🤘🏻😎

There's no reason to pass up on a perfectly good couch

25:17, That was the 2nd joke they took from the 1980 movie "Airplane!". The first "Airplane!" joke being at 22:01 with Leslie Nielsen.
Poor Ruff catching all the strays today🤣
Fun fact:womp rats are about the size of a sedan/a cow. A lot less impressive when you phrase it like "I used to shoot random cars and cows from my uncles crop duster back home!"

Crazy how these episodes are more respectful of Star Wars than basically everything Disney has done with the franchise.
So, Seth McFarlane’s mother rescued cats. Super nice woman. When she died, Seth honored her and her love of cats. So, he’ll always have a cool cat here and there.

"Red Hulk, standing by!"
"Red Skull, standing by!"
"Red Herring, standing by!"
"Red Ribbon Army, standing by!"
"Red Bull Team, standing by!"
"Red Army, standing by!"
"Pokemon Red, standing by!"
"Red Yoshi, standing by!"
"Red Baron, standing by!"

Fun fact, the actor for Leia Carrie Fisher was in this parody. But she voices the rebel lady Mon Mothma who is also Peter’s boss Angela
22:02 That is indeed Leslie Nielsen. Specifically, this is referencing "Airplane!", one of my favorite spoof movies of all time.
Blue Harvest was the pseudonym George Lucas used while filming Return of the Jedi, so that fans wouldn't crash the sets. So that was an homage to that, but Seth McFarland has stated that, had he known they would have ended up doing all three parodies anyway, he'd have saved that title for the third one.

You HAVE to do the Robot Chicken Star Wars stuff now! Y'All are quickly becoming my favorite reaction channel...and I watch a bunch of reaction channels for some reason...
Boom is right about the ship being Landos, but that wasn't until 2018 until that was part of the canon. It's not really a spoiler since Boom already called it. Boom knows all and sees all. For he is Boom the all knowing.

Yeeeeesssss!!! I have all these on DVD (somewhere) and I over watched these to death back in the day! But I haven’t watched these in years now! God they’re so funny!!
Blue Harvest was the code name for Star Wars while in production
this trilogy is probably the best way to watch Star Wars
I still own the blue harvest on dvd when I found it in those dvd bins at Best Buy also family guy is set in quahog which is a fictional place in Massachusetts
What i always think is funny, Is the guy who voices Klaus, the fish parodying Ackbar, is Dee Bradley Baker who voiced the clones in the clone wars tv show.
I never got the Hoth/Coldth joke until now seeing it with the subtitles.
