Shredder did something in this movie that comic villains rarely do. He prepared for round two with Batman. He upgraded his claws, forced the fight onto awkward terrain, and immediately targeted his utility belt.

Batman knows more styles and may have mastered them but theres levels to it. Where as Shredder is fully focused in his, thus has access fo hidden arts where batman hasnt had the time to go that far or the trust to get those secrets. So yeah Shredder could hold his own.

One of the greatest crossovers ever. I love Batman's interactions with the turtles, how they have opposing personalities, but are so similar in a lot of ways. Batman vs. Shedder is the fight I never knew I needed, and the mutant forms Batman's rogue's galery takes are really cool.

To answer their question, yes, New York does still exist in DC. DC has every real location exist, countries, cities, monuments, while also having all of their fictional ones as well. It’s actually to the point that when DC and Marvel had crossovers in the past, it was confirmed that DCs Earth is slightly bigger than Marvels to accommodate all the extra locations.

    • @CommanderSteelTrap
      @CommanderSteelTrap 15 дней назад +29

@@proclarushtaonasat Yeah, Marvel has some places like that for themselves, but DC just has way more. They’ve got places like Themyscira, Markovia, Kahndaq, Bialya, Rheelasia, Kasnia, Kor, Qurac, Zandia, Vlatava, Zambesi, plus several dozen extra cities like Gotham, Metropolis, Central City, Star City, Coast City, Hub City, Gateway City, Amnasty Bay, Blüdhaven, Dakota, Fawcett, Keystone, Midway, Opal City, National City, Smallville, Gorilla City, and just a ton more of both I didn’t mention, that’s just what I can remember off the top of my head. Marvel keeps most of their characters localised to New York most of the time and the characters introduced outside of that exist mostly in real world places, whereas DC has created tons of extra Cities and Countries for many of their heroes and villains, while also having many live in real world places.

So to answer your guys' question on Robin its simple. In this movie it's Damian Wayne. Who is the biological son of Batman and the newest robin. You can usually tell by his personality and more ninja looking suit. Dick(Nightwing) was first who usually as robin has no pants. He is the robin in Batman the animated series, teen titans and young justice. Jason(Red Hood) usually has a more red and yellow suit as compared to Dick's Green and red. And Tim is usually a mix between Jason and Dick's suit ergo with pants.Appears in batman the animated series and young justice He is also the smartest but isn't used as often as the others. But yes this is Damian and he is basically a trained assassin hence the personality.

DC changed this in the Silver Age moving Batman to Gotham and removing real-world cities as places of operation for superheroes moving Batman to the harsh and Lovecraft influenced Gotham, Metropolis got moved to New York, and Green Lantern Hal Jordan was placed in Coast City which was sort of an amalgam of San Diego and San Francisco.

Quick explanation for the underwear over the suit:
batman is designed like that because he is partially inspired by the first superhero, superman. Superman is designed like that because he is visually inspired by circus strongmen, which kids from 1938 would be familiar with. Strong men back then would show off their mucsles, but had to wear full body skin-tight tights to do so, because being shirtless was considered basically naked back then. The tights didnt leave much to the imagination, so they would wear trunks over the top of the tights. So, to show that superman was super strong, they put him in a strong man outfit, but more colorful to catch people's attention and with a cape to show motion. This set the standard for superhero outfits, so batman did the same thing, but bat themed.
Also, that sort of means it's more accurate to say batman is wearing booty shorts over his costume. Do with that information what you will

I also didn't know how badly I needed Batman vs Shredder until I got it. Unironically one of my favorite TMNT movies.

Lol in the comics crossover that this movie was based off of, they establish that the DC Universe is completely separate from whatever universe the Turtles are from. This movie basically did away with any multiverse shenanigans and just treated this universe as being inhabited by both Batman and the Turtles. They even have a meta joke where Mikey is super stoked about visiting Gotham City, only for Donnie to say: "They're pretty much the same city." In DC Comics, for the most part, their fictional cities/locations do exist alongside real-world cities/locations. Though, Gotham City has traditionally been treated as kind of the "New York" or "New Jersey" of the DC Universe. Straight up, this movie is AWESOME. Such a great love letter to both the TMNT and Batman franchises, with great action and character moments, as well as plenty of easter eggs and in-jokes for the fans.

A fun crossover movie based of one of many times the turtles and Bats have crossed over (like seriously Bats and the Turtles get around; Power Rangers, Alien, Predator, Godzilla, Ghostbusters, Dracula, He-Man, X-Files, Elmer Fudd, these are all real) Mikey is hilarious. It's separate from the animated series but the art style is fairly like The Batman tv series, but not its character designs.
No no, Batgirl and Batwoman have always been two different entities: Batgirl is typically Barbara Gordon - daughter of Commissioner Gordon, the outfit she wears in this movie is her 'burnside' outfit, more practically made, was very popular - she also went by Oracle as a 'person in the chair' kinda character, but probably should know about Killing Joke to learn why. Batwoman is typically Kate Kane nowadays, debuting in 2006 after comics reused the mantle from Kathy Kane's iteration between the 60s-80s (funnily enough, Kathy's Batwoman was a love interest to Bruce to stop the gay allegations against Batman because, again, it was the 60s), Bruce's cousin on his mother's side, her suit looks more like Bruce's though her origins are less connected to the Bat Family than Barbara's, also one of DC's most prominent LGBT superheroes.
Okay: Giant Penny! Alfred's fault. He suggested that Bruce kept mementos of past successes; originally it was something a low-tier villain called the Penny Plunderer tried to steal, in Zero Year it was retconned to be used to defeat the Riddler, BTAS attests it to Two-Face, but the giant penny tends to be an art piece Bruce just goes 'ima take this' and nobody thought twice about Batman carrying a giant penny out.
Young Robin - meet Damian Wayne, fifth and most current iteration. Bruce's bio baby with Talia al Ghul, so Ra's al Ghul's grandson, trained mostly as a feral assassin boy but now under the Bat Family's watch to be a less stabby vigilante, but still feral. Probably the second edgiest Robin just behind Jason Todd, but he still has time...and he respawned quicker. In most timeskip comics since he does take up the mantle of Batman.
Many Bat-villains are doctors; Strange and Harley are psychiatrist doctors, while Ivy and Freeze are science doctors
We've still yet to get the sequel, which leaves the potential of jokerized Shredder still up in the air.

It took about 30-plus years, but it didn't disappoint. Batman vs. Shredder is such a highlight, and I love how evenly matched their fighting skills are.

Gotham is usually in New Jersey! New York does exist. Locations of fictional cities change sometimes though
Batgirl and Batwomen are separate. The first Batgirl out of 3, Barbra Gordon is the daughter of commissioner Gordon and is the the same age as the first robin (Nightwing). After becoming paralyzed from the waist down she becomes Oracle, the bats' tech guy. Batwoman is Kate Kane, Bruce Wayne's cousin. She actually got into the whole vigilante thing before knowing her cousin was The Bat.
The robin of this movie is Damian al Ghul-Wayne, and is Bruce's bio son as well as Ra's grandson, he is the 5th (?) To hold the robin title and is generally 10-14 yrs old and hasn't grown into his own hero identity. Damian is the most serious/formal of the robins, as he was raised in the league of assassins until he was ten. Movies, animated or otherwise, never manage to show how many kids batman has.
The consensus on who is most often counted as a robin, in order: Dick Grayson (Nightwing), Jason Todd (red hood), Tim drake (red robin), Stephanie Brown (Spoiler/Batgirl), Damian Wayne (robin). There are more kids that aren't apart of the robin lineup such as Cassandra Cain (Batgirl/Black Bat/Orphan) and Duke Thomas (Signal) the only metahuman of Bruce's kids. there are always more the further out from the 'main continuity' you go. many more
Harley Quinn is a doctor of psychology. She has a PhD, I appreciated this movie acknowledging that.
Those covers are real! DC owns more than you think, including TMNT

Gotham City is based on two cities: location wise, it’s New Jersey. Style wise is New York.
The Robin in the film is Damian Wayne, who is the actual biological son of Bruce. His mother is the daughter of Ra’s.
There is Batgirl who is Barbara Gordon and there is Batwoman who Kate Kane (Bruce’s cousin).
The giant penny has two origins, the one of the animated shows, it was Two-Face. In the comics however it is a character known as the Penny Plunderer. He was from very early in Batman, who famously died from that Giant Penny when fighting Batman.

He's Damian Wayne, a son Bruce had with Ra's al Ghul's daughter. But Bruce didn't know about him, and Damian was only raised by the league of assassins,, with the most rigid training. At one point, after Ra's death (he later comes back to life, but at the time they thought it was impossible), he was sent to his father for protection, who taught him the values of heroism, and later became Robin (the reason he became Robin it's pretty complicated).
The reason he looks so you, is because he's like 9 when he started being Robin, but he compensates with the assassin's training he had since birth

I also love the dynamics between the Turtles and the family, like Donny and Batgirl's friendship, Robin's (aka Damian Wayne) and Michelangelo & Raph's dynamic. I also like how much subtle gore and brutality are in this movie, and it really uses its PG13 rating. Bro, that Shredder vs. Batman scene was sick!!! Seeing Shredder actually wreck Batman is so unexpected, and yet I like seeing Batman challenged by a well-matched opponent.

Pitcher: "I have a crossover title featuring two martial-arts themed properties that people will love."
    Executives: "I'm not so sure..."
Pitcher: "They're both established franchises, one of which we own, both of which are popular with children and older fans so well make a lot of money and ther-"
    Executives: "Say less, you're greenlit."
It's just that, unlike most projects that start like that, the people working on this actually gave a shit about the source material and characterization.
48:13 - Depends on the situation. In this case, if it was realistic, there would be a serious concern about the whole thing going down and the Ooze and Joker toxin ending up in the water and contaminating people. In the case of timers connected to warhead launches, you could prevent the launch but not the timer countdown and have it blow up in your face.
