Another one of your really great videos and I've watched a few of them, lol. I've now worn Philips 9030 HA for more than a year. I started out at 80% of the initial REM settings and I've currently at 90% and about to increase that to 100% finally. I've had to do some of my own programming to taylor my music program to my guitar playing and have two programs that still preserve some of the nice high frequency sounds of my guitars without the harsh distortion, shrillness and note doubling I experienced with just the general or music program. In short I've turned off all the noise reduction, feedback control and directionality. At the advice of another musician I've also adjusted the compression ratios to 1.3 which while probably not the perfect solution helped a lot. And I've had to reduce the overall gain by about 4-6 dB a well. Of course this isn't great for speech but it works while probably still not being optimal for my guitar playing. I've got open domes and typical cookie cutter loss that is as high as -65 to -70dB. Again none of this is probably optimal but it's much better for me. My question is that I'm interested in getting or at least trying Widex HA this year with a $3K HA benefit I now have. I want to see how the shorter delay times might help. But I'm concerned that since I know my hearing when I remove my HA is far worse than it was normally since my brain is no longer used to working as hard to hear....how can an accurate re-test be done? Or should I not wear the HA for the week before a re-test? Thanks.

@@meas2942 thank you. I’m wondering too if it may be related to an inner ear issue or my Trigeminal Neuralgia.
Hey Dr. Cliff, I got screwed by nuheara and have wasted the better part of 2020 trying to get the iqbuds 2 max after watching your review. I've just recieved a refund and they have no plans on 2021 when Brexit will stop their duty free shipping to the EU. They have no inventory, yet accept new orders. I can send you all my support thread with dealing with them to show show you how shoddy their support has been and the flat out lies they told me. They even told me after 4 months or so that they don't ship anywhere in the EU. When i made my order on their EU website. So i'd like to hear what alternatives you'd recommend to nuheara price point as a hearable. I can't really afford hearing aids and was looking for a decent augmented hearing solution. I'd rather stay hard of hearing than order from them again. Thanks in advance....Nik
Depends on your level of hearing loss, but I tend to recommend the Bose Hearphones. I've been waiting for custom ear tips for my Apple AirPods Pro before I test their Hearing Aid capabilities. I'll post a review when completed in a month or so.
@@DrCliffAuD Wow, a huge thank you for a speedy response. Unlike nuheara support. I'd say my hearing loss is mild. I found the most enticing thing about nuheara was the tailored hearing id. Which i think the apple and samsung products do not actually do. I'm not after an amplification of ambient sound on the whole. Just the frequencies that i have a deficit. Do you think the bose hearphones are a possibility then?
The Bose Hearphones are more of a shotgun approach. However, you can use the Mimi Hearing test app to upload to your iPhone to customize Airpods Pros.
@@DrCliffAuD Well, that settles it. I'll wait for your review of the airpods pros before making a decision. Please cover if they work with android too. Really apreciate the responses, i am in quite a predicament, 2020 hasn't been kind financially and need a semi permanent solution for a couple of years before actually going to a specialist and proper equipment. I love living on an island in greece, but also wish i had access to your services. Many thanks again...
@@mikhonda I can tell you that the AirPods Pro won't work with Android as a hearing aid.
Do you know John Cena "Doctor of Thuganomics"??
What is considered "normal". There is no base line for the people that are not doctors. That's why the results are useless to people.
Normal hearing range is within or around 25 decibels, normal conversation can be heard around 40 dB. The “baseline” is measured in sound intensity, or decibels. Lower dB is less intense, and higher dB is more intense.
