    This is staggering piece of work - superbly constructed and even more remarkable as its non-narrated which amplifies its impact. I’ve never seen such a large body of footage for a single artist or band, then so well woven together. I really do hope generations of Cure fans get to see this. Bravo.

    Another great look back through the years of The Cure. Robert was and still is such a unique character. He openly embraces his “awkwardness” in interviews and videos, yet this forms a part of the attraction to many fans I think. He somehow makes it cool to be just himself. I love that he is soooo down to earth despite the fame.

    Really these series of documentaries are really making my days. And I love the way Robert speaks during the interviews...This one is special to me because my passion for The Cure started with the Album "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me" and the subsequent "The Kissing Tour" In Milan and, in 2018 for celebrating this moment I did a tattoo on my left arm, inspired by one of the album hit "Why Can't I Be You?"...Really awesome memories :):):). Thanks so much again for your service!!! It does really good to fill in the blanks in this fascinating trip with The Cure!

    Wow, what memories this stuff is bringing back. I first saw The Cure in Canada's Wonderland in the mid 80's. What a unbelievable show. They came out for 3 encores then as they walked out for a 4th, the park hit the lights. Robert shrugged, said sorry and it was over. They pulled some very, very deep classics that wonderful summer evening. I saw them every tour from that year through the mid 90's. Great band, great songs and the best live act I have ever seen

      I first saw the cure in 1980 at Macquarie Uni bar in Sydney. Less than 100 people in the band room. No stage, they were just set up on the floor, 4 feet from me and my school mates. Robert, Simon, Lol, and Mattheui Hartley on keyboards. Seventeen Seconds and earlier material. My mum picked us up after.
      Saw several shows of the Faith tour the following year in bigger venues.
      Ever grateful for bands that toured Australia back then.

    just great great songwriting, so cool to see how involved the whole band is in the album creation process. I mean Robert's voice is great but the bass always stood out to me, not sure what all the musical influences are that made the cure so recognizable but that bass is always so powerful and graceful across the whole catalog.
    so much deep English culture in what Robert is singing about, I wish I knew exactly what he's referencing, it's an English sentimentality I want to say is connected to romanticism like John Keats or Lord Byron, but that's not quite it. It has such a distinct feel. The Cure is totally one of a kind.

    Argentina concerts!!! My parents didn't let me go 'cause I was 13 years at that moment, only we went with the car a few blocks from the stadium and it was a pandemonium, people runing, police everywhere, and my mom telling me "did you see? I was right!!!", and we return home, I stood on the balcony and at times you could hear the music from there... I couldn't believe it, my most adored band playing a few blocks from my house, and my heart shattered... I was 15 years old, my cousin was 14 and he a did not growths at that time, so I was trying to take care of him. The line over Avellaneda ave was a mess, thousands of people in the line. When they opened the gates the crowd got us into the stadium, literaly floating with the uncuted ticket in our hands, our feet never touched the ground until we touch the grass of the stadium field, I think for two weak teenagers we got off easy. We watched the show near the FOH, an it was a perfect show. Eigth years later I saw again The Cure in Madrid, with a new band called Oasis as an opening artist, but that is another story...

    As with the first part, a fantastic documentary compilation on the band with such amazing exclusive insights and unseen footage and interview material.
    However, note: @ 43:00 - 45:00 - the hugely irritating TOTP crowd/audience really haven't got a fucking clue - presumably told to clap along by the producers to create some dubious sense of 'party vibe', so they meekly comply, and in so doing completely miss the whole point of (and totally ruin the mood of) a song like Pictures Of You...... it's almost embarrassing to watch!

    • @BearWithNoFace
      @BearWithNoFace  3 года назад +3

      Totally agree - part of it was I couldn’t just show the video due to it being blocked - and this was one of the few (only?) mimed performances. It’s so awful I thought it made an interesting contrast. It’s cringeworthy for sure

      @BearWithNoFace  4 года назад +3

      No I couldn't find a good interview besides this one, which is pretty vague and needs the "LOL SACKED!" in order to know who you're talking about.. unless people already know who you're talking about which I sort of assume, in which case people already know he was sacked. ruclips.net/video/70_9z55BRDU/видео.html
      I'd suggest you read Lol's book for a first-person account, if you haven't already.
