The Red Butchers EXPLAINED in 60 Seconds

- On the killing ground of Isstvan III during the Horus Heresy in the Warhammer 40K setting, there were World Eaters Space Marines on either side of the conflict who succumbed utterly, devolving into mindless frenzied savages that could not be controlled. Rather than ‘putting down’ such individuals as had happened in the past, the Apothecaries had the mad subdued and chained for a far darker fate.
The Techmarines made customised Terminator suits from recovered wargear for them, fashioning them as both armour and as confinement; mechanised prison cells that could be immobilised with a remote signal. Hung in chains in the holds of the World Eaters warships, foaming and screaming in impotent rage, the Red Butchers were born. Развлечения
Imagine just looking up and seeing 20 men wiggling on the ceiling, silently screaming into their helmets
That put an awesome and horrifying image in my head.
that is a funny sight lmao
As the one above also repeating I’m gonna kill you I’m gonna kill you the whole way there lol
Well they didn't wiggle, the suit was locked in place as a prison. So basically this is an even more horrifying fate.🎉
Just watching the armor swing from the roof of the ship
imagine serving your legion for decades just to be turned into a decoration that sometimes gets outside time.
Hey, don't shit on outside time
Good damnit why'd you have to say outside time
*Turns around*
No bad world eater! no outside time!
*Sprays them with squirt bottle*
I'm not sure the guys hanging even know where they are or what is happening, like a rabid dog, seems like a good comparison
You ever hear about hellbrutes?
Don't kinkshame
"Man, these butcher nails sure do suck. I'm gonna give them to my legion."
Sometimes I really do think Big E got what he deserved. Mfker could have removed it from angron and gave him plenty of psychology help.
But no, he was like "lol let's just keep him broken for fun"
And this happens.
@@newyou6210 pretty sure he would die actually, the nails remove a big chunk of your brain so if he survived the damage would leave him... well, brain damaged
@@newyou6210 He did try to remove them. He brought him back to Terra and looked at him in his lab.
The Butcher's Nails weren't just brain implants. They were brain replacements. Entire portions of Angron's brain had been removed, and the Butcher's Nails had replaced those functions. Removing the nails means Angron is left with like 2/3rds of a working brain. IE, he would die. Especially since the Nails also had tendrils across the rest of his brain and spine.
@@whocares427 Big E lock away the angle of death, he could’ve lock Angron away as well… or at least put him not in a power position, yet he still gives him his own army and allowed him to do weird shxt to his sons… that’s still fuxk up and sad.
@@kenlu94the Problem with Big E is not that he‘s too ruthless. It‘s that he is too nice, especially where the Primarchs are concerned.
Thats not power armor, thats restraining armor 💀💀💀💀
"Dinner is served, butchers!"
If you know, you know.
I don't.Please explain.
Yeah, please, elaborate!
explain
The tagline signoff for a YT cooking show called Regular Ordinary Swedish Mealtime was "Dinner is served b*****s!"
Hence the switch to "butchers" is intuitive.
Imagine seeing like 25 men weighing as much as a semi truck hanging from the ceiling.
I'd want to see the process of putting them up there.
Some say angron himself chained them up there.
@@ashenshield1712If he can lift a warhound titans foot up from crushing him and lorgar, a terminator must weigh like an apple or something less.
Angron lifted the foot up after being injured too (from what I heard)
All the while they are wiggling and squirming about.
I want to see the process of them being put BACK up there.
Everything surrounding angron is pure grimderp
yea givin angron a legion after his encounter with the big E was a grave mistake.
Then he found out what Angron did to his legion and went "This is fine" 😅
This would have been easily avoidable if Big E didnt basicly force Angron to abandon his brother and sister and force him to watch them get slaughter as their FIRST interaction this made Angron despite the Imperium amd Emperor on a cellular level
This is what StarCraft meant when they said “that armour will be your new cell”
Dreadnought Armor:
I'm surprised not a single captain "accidently" flew the ships into a star with these guys onboard.
Or just leave them on a battlefield "by accident".
Bro the last thing you want to lobotomize is a 8ft tall, cyberneticly enhanced mam made for only war.
I’ll be honest a whole frontline of space marines is scary but a random group of these mf’s charging and screaming at you is f**king terrifying imagine a goddamn gorilla stands up and charges you with a chainsaw now imagine it’s got armour you have these nightmares
Yea actually Terminator World eaters where a joke because they we're so slow they were not able to keep up with Angron, Kharn laughs in the face of his primarch when he ask him join them, same reaction happened with all the Best fighters of the legion, this guys did not kill much
Flesh Tearers in the Black Rage
I don't believe the Butcher's Nails implants were mandatory, but to refuse to get them was seen as weakness/betraying their Primarch.
As well, it was a mark of honour/brotherhood, like the Warrior Lodges, so choosing not to get them marked you as an outsider.
There’s a neat fan setting called the Dorn Heresy that swaps the loyalists with the traitors, and a part of it is how Angron and the World Eaters became disciplined and loyal almost beyond belief. They even maintain a cell-like structure among the Legion, ensuring that their rebellious roots would remain a strength.
But Angron’s presumed death on Isstvan V had consequences. The Legion prided itself on martial honor and discipline, but there were those that wanted the clarity of their lost Primarch. They asked for the Butcher’s Nails...
...and they only earned them if they were proven to be stronger than the terrible compulsions the Nails might provoke. The Nails can elevate even an Astarte...but it also might destroy him.
Angron's backstory has to be a contender for the saddest story in Warhammer
Sadly gw just is unable to give the Red Butchers to World Eaters, instead they got standard Terminators that know how to use combi-bolters and cannot choose to wield melee weapons only (only 1 can wield "dual lightning claws" per 5 models in unit). Very sad indeed...
Man, Angron needs a hug
Imagine how terrifying it would be to see these guys "slowly" waddling towards you in indescribable Terminator armor, screaming their lungs out with dual chain axes. Terrifying.
Kharn before khorn: "bro just chill for a moment 🗿"
You know what's funny? Their suits of Power Armor can be shut off remotely, so these screaming, frothing, murderous psychopaths would stop in mid run, fall flat on their face and be left screaming with rage in a suit of Terminator armor that acted as their cage.
Bad Terminators get sent to air jail lmao
the most terrifying aspect is that when they finished baztling the power armor was powwered down the berserk where left raging and trothing until thayt were gathered . ..
Interesting how they get 2 terminator units in 30k but 40k non of the devours or red butchers got into 40k 😅
They probably died out due to void ship combat
Probably killed at least during the twilight stages of the heresy. They seem like a unit whose life expectancy isn’t very long due to suicidal charges into the enemy.
Probably kharn killed some.
In lore or tabletop? they're a strategem upgrade in tabletop.
Yeah the army feels half baked at best
What I don't understand is why the big e decided to let this take place it just seems so stupid for him a genius
I believe that with his gift of foresight he foresaw EVERYTHING that would happen, from his entombment on the golden throne to his dream for humanity being realized; and as a certain squid face warp dick would say: "everything is proceeding just. As. Planned."
@@kriegsmanjaeger5545 The emperor is not THAT good. The webway was his main goal and when that was crushed he was in shambles, bro did not know what to do. The fact thousands of custodes died only for the webway to be lost really shows Big E did not plan this out, he got caught by surprise.
The World Eaters decent into darkness is showing here.
I was kind of surprised when WE dropped that the red butchers didn’t have models despite DG and K-sons having unique termies.
Blood Angels: "look at them, look at what they need to mimic a fraction of our power" 😂
Still have no idea how the World Eaters still exist honestly.
I thought the world eaters took the nails voluntarily to appease Angron by suffering with him.
Sturdy ship building
Why would the emperor allow the implantation of the butchers nails. Why did he not stomp that out as soon as he heard about it.
Was he stupid?
Angron was dying from the Butcher's Nails. The emperor tried and failed to fix it. He wasn't going to have Angron executed for being broken and deal with the effect that killing another primarch would have on the others. He was going to let Angron expire in a couple hundred years and serve as a blunt tool until he did.
The Space Marines themselves were not forced to get the nails they took them voluntarily to try and earn their Pimarch's trust/affection. Afterwards it turned into a mandatory thing.
I'd like that people stop complaining about the emperor without actually knowing the lore
First yes the emperor found out and told Agron to stop under punishment but Angron ignored and continued.
Secondly, while the nails have a bad effect they were super effective in that any world they took, they took in 32 hours about. Against any other legion, the world eaters in terms of martial skill were outright better and stronger on average, the space wolves needing to corral Agron away from his legion to stop the fight.
Thirdly, who actually cares? The Emperor had a galaxy wide campaign to fight, if it helped the legion it meant more world's faster into imperial fold as well as the shear fear factor. He didn't like it but was busy.
Some day do Gabriel of the iron hands my favorite chapter
Gabriel Santar the right (iron) hand of Ferrus ?
I'll say it again. The primarchs were a bad idea.
Yeah the Big E is probably regretting making them
And yet, on tabletop, GW screwed it up and didn't give the World Eaters Red Butchers, despite the fact that Thousand Sons got Scarab Occult Terminators and Death guard got both Deathshroud and Blightlord Terminators
I hate most 40k content on yt but this short is good real good. Even though I know about this stuff it actually feels fresh and not like I'm being duped into listening
Alright alright take my sub already haha, keep it up man.
Haha thank you!
And this wasn't a red flag for the emperor how?
This was awesome broski
If all they want to do is kill, how do they think to even get back on the plane after a battle
Its a travesty they didnt get models in 40k, the range feels really half baked as it stands. Hope they get a second wave soon
I’d personally say Iron Warriors are more terrifying or Custodes who are full speeed in there armor
Doing nothing is hard work. Being chained up probably drove them more and more insane with each passing minute, once released, they would have absolutely nothing left in their minds except for violence.
Which book do I need to read about this?
The Horus Heresy - Book Six: Retribution by Alan Bligh, pg. 124
The Horus Heresy - Book Two: Massacre, by Alan Bligh, pg. 216
+ betrayer by Aaron Dembski-Bowden
@@Dutch40KGuy I haven't read retribution or Betrayer yet
@@Dutch40KGuy looking forward to Red Angel
Any reason why the other primarchs or big E himself didn't stop the implementation of the Butchers Nails into the entire legion?
Yeah we could have gotten these as a unit for world eaters in 40k but nope we got the derpy looking eight bound. To me khorne doesn’t flesh change or mutate like other gods do. He elevates them into full blood thirsters or demon prince.
The Emperor was so arrogant he couldn't see that Angron was a nut case from a mile away. At least Kurze was...complex. Angron was just bad product.
There have been moments where Angron has shown to still have a fraction of his intelligence still there he's not stupid and that is just due to gw poor writing.
There's no bad lore, only bad authors.
Huh… And you say these guys eventually turned traitor….. and they happen to serve Khorne now… Huh… well color me shocked!
ANGRY MEN
Werent red butchers first formed after isstvan 3?
Husscars?
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
And how can you put them back into the ship after the battle?
Lock their armour from a distance!
And then you look at the red butchers later lore. Angron and the rest of the world eaters were too fast for the red butchers, so no one wanted to become one because the combat was mostly done by the time they got to it 😂😂
Those were the Devourers, not the red butchers 😁
@@Dutch40KGuy well shit, my bad got em mixed up
OHH yes
Angron is the worst.
That's your opinion
Oh how I adore them! I love World Eaters! My soul belongs to the Blood God! Blood for the Primarch!😊
Mine too, brother 🪓
This is why Angron sucks.
Correction this is why Angron is a fucking chad
