It's refreshing to see a desk setup built on a budget -- we have that in common (that, and just about everything I bought came in an Amazon box). To accommodate my telecommuting needs I purchased a $60 5' plastic, foldable picnic table to create an "L" shaped arrangement -- this is where my work stuff lives. I have the same accessories as you (but different brands) except for that charging stand. That's slick and affordable so I'll be ordering one using your link. The major difference between our setups is yours is functional and attractive and mine is functional and butt ugly, so you won't see me posting a video on RUclips 🙂. Nice work.
Thanks! Yeah, it's tough when people see only the most expensive best items on other desk setups. But that all takes time to build up to, plus you never know what you're going to like or really use until you try it. So no need to spend so much until you're sure! Haha, I'm sure it's not that bad! It sounds like it works well for you and you can keep updating it over time.
This is really great budget setup. Me personally, I would go for a better keyboard. Logitech has some small cool keyboards (MX Keys Mini) that would fit the aesthetics.
Great point about the 4k webcam! No need to spend extra money if it doesn't come with a benefit. I'm definitely interested in hearing about the standing desk long term. Seems like a solid value coming with built in storage and those little bins. Did you think about putting the monitor on an arm as well? Maybe there is something that can integrate the monitor and ring light? I don't move my monitors around so I picked up some cheap arms that allowed me to get rid of the stand. The desk feels a lot cleaner, plus it opens up some space for Hot Wheels. Er, plants in your wife's case 😆
Yeah, the webcam bottleneck was a surprise to us as we almost went all in on a $300 webcam. The desk was a surprise, I was expecting crap. I'll keep everyone updated on it. My wife didn't want us to go crazy with extra items, but I see that as the next step for upgrades. A monitor arm is a great suggestion and glad to know it's worked out for you! I'd like to upgrade her eventually with a smaller light that she can pivot around like the Elgato Light. Some Hot Wheels could work, i'll try and convince her. Lol
@@Ideal-Setup I get not wanting to go overboard, especially right away. One you spend some time at the desk you get a better idea of what you want out of it. I might have that same ring light. If I do, getting rid of the stand was a good idea because it's junk.
Change the batteries every few months? Hah Ive never been able to get more than 2 weeks out of them in my wireless keyboard and mouse. No matter what battery I used. It just got annoying changing batteries and resincing them. So I stay with wired. Very nice set up for her Im trying to make 1 for my wife
Yeah, we'll see how long she lasts without wanting to upgrade. We already have a plan for the keyboard, mouse upgrade will be next I'm sure. Thanks! I'm sure your wife will appreciate it.
I agree, but right now we don't have an office ready for my wife so that living space will do. It won't be it's permanent location. The rest of the room has a bed and 2 doors. It's a makeshift office for now. There are actually 2 other doors leading out to that deck, so we never use that one. We left enough room to open it for airflow and that's where having everything on wheels helps.
Hey, it's called a budget for a reason, haha. My wife isn't in need of that currently for what she does for work. Trust me, we'd love to get something nicer, just not yet. I myself am rocking something better on my setup, but still not as new. Is there one you would recommend her to upgrade it to in the future that isn't crazy expensive yet?

Hello, Congratulations Cool 👍👏👏👏👏
Thank you! Cheers!

Facing a window sounds like a bad decision. Would be curious for overall room layout that lead to that decision.

It would be nice to see her wife reaction to the final setup ...
That's a good idea. We will be moving her office soon, so I will make sure to see if I can get her reaction to that one.
ya dawg drop dat base
LOL!
title said affordable…thumbnail said something else 😂
Lol, what's the thumbnail saying?
@@Ideal-Setup iont know…macbook aint cheap 😅
@@fatbee77 That's why it's a Desk Setup Makeover, not a tour. But i'll take that into account for future videos. Appreciate your feedback!
i didn't like that it was at a double door
Yeah, we're limited on the area until we get her full office space completed, sadly.
what the hell are you doing?! You are paring a MacBook Pro with a crappy 1080p monitor?! it's a downgrade of experience
