This is a video talking about how I use the MPC-X to record vocals. Follow me on IG @brnempireinc Check out my jazzy single: Wavs on all platforms chemosh.hearno...
Once you have you beat done and in song mode. Convert the song to a sequence. The record your vocals. That way you can record you verses, chorus’s bridges and any thing else. You can record in one take or punch in. This way its much easy than recording vocals for each sequence
I still have another 6grand to invest in the home studio. For now though the MPC X is a killer addition and part of the preproduction process. Loving it so far ;)
Nice trick on extending bars appreciate it fam 👏 for other rookies like me out there don't forget to switch on the 48v amp on the mpc switch to rear inputs & turn up the gain + master knows. Yea I know , tiny little detail that makes all difference 🤣☺️
@@IMakeBeats I doubt you're going to fill up "2GB" of ram with just vocals... ever, though. :) Also, _actually_ you are wrong thinking samples take up less memory, as everything in the MPC One/Live/X gets converted to 32bit floating point audio, which is 50% bigger than recording straight to audio track which, if I'm not mistaken, is still a 24bit 44.1kHz WAV. And yes, pretty sure the latter is accurate, as the MPC One/X/Live can only convert the final audio to 24bit 96kHz, _not_ 32bit, in standalone mode. In other words, it does some weird stuff to push the audio quality, which don't get me wrong, seems to work great. I'd never say using samples results in 'unlimited vocal tracks' though, as that's not how it works lol. Most vocal tracks also would be fine when recording in mono, especially if you decide to add insert FX within the MPC anyway to 'beef it up'. Heck, I suppose in hip hop, you'd add your doubles and create depth that way anyway.
You don't have to edit on the fly. It's just better using the daw version. You can't quite see it in a liner er fashion on the hardware. That's where we could use a arranger on these things it would help a lot.
Thanks for the feedback... I haven’t loaded the MPC software, at the time of this video I was all stand alone, no computer. I’m sure it’s an easier process with the software. 🙏🏾
Thanks for the video Curtis Wayne - I haven't got an AKAI MPC-X, still shopping around to see which would be the best product for me to do some home demos before hitting the studio. I recently picked up a Roland FA 08 workstation which I absolutely love - just want to be able to get the vocals down now. Any suggestions on a fairly decent microphone?
Thanks for watching.... I appreciate it. Congrats on the new gear purchase also. Its many companies that make great mics but it depends on what you want to spend.... check out www.lautenaudio.com
@@Blvckfalcon Thanks so much for that, I greatly appreciate you taking the time to respond! : ) I will definitely check it out - I agree, I guess there are many good mics out there, just depends on how much I want to spend on it.
Thanks for this reply Darren… I know it’s a late reply but the fantom any fantom is dope in my book. I hope you got an Akai product and a good mic…. I use a shure 57 with an online preamp for my vocals. It sounds good to me. Check my single out. I used the 57 and pro tools. whitegoldentity.wixsite.com/knockxville
Whats up fam... when you are in the audio track section you have to make sure you choose a mono input. Make sure its like input track 1 not stereo 1-2 that should fix it.
So for my understanding you put everything in your original sequence, then make sure that it’s long enough to hold a verse then when you record your vocals you can go back and use subtracting editing to implement your breakdowns because you’re vocal recording can only be long as the sequence that you’re recording on. Cool 😎
Yes sir….. I’m sure it’s other ways of doing it but I learned that technique from poli popo he has good mpc tips. You just take the tips and make it work for you. 💯
I don’t use the sequencer at all instead I use the tracks as my different sections and bounce the track to a audio sample and have it like fl also makes arrangement simple
If you have a 16 bar verse you only need 16 (not 32) bars. If you've been doubling your bar count in the MPC it's because your tempo is set incorrectly (doubled). For instance, in your example project your tempo probably is not 155BPM. It's probably 77.5BPM.
for some reason i cant hear my vocals after i record them... im using the mpc x. i see that its recording because i see the meter moving while recording. any idea? im going directly into the mpc without a daw.
you have to enable the monitor button on the track in order to hear playback. If you have the new software update it does it automatically. You might want to make sure you choose the right input you want to make sure you have input 1, 2, 3, or 4 whichever on you have your mic on.
Easy fix fam... on the track your recording on you want to go to the input and change your input you want the vocal mono so just change the input to 1 or 2 or whatever channel your recording on.
Poli Popo is a good guy. His heart is in the right place and has great workflow suggestions as well as tips on navigating the MPC X. This channel also a great place, especially like seeing a second vid window showing what is happening as he is explaining processes. ✌🧡👍
@@wmextra The. big six looks mean... It depends on what you want to do with your music. Me, I'm working hard to get music placed with music libraries so for me the Big Six would fall in place to work on the quality of the music. If you already making music with what you have and if you want to get to the professional side then I would good with the big six. The X can do everything though, and if you use your DAW to mix you really don't need the six so it could go either way. I would get the X and a keyboard and go from there.

Me personally I use my vocals as samples I do not use audio tracks at all,”why?”Because it uses less memory and is more versatile.
@Beats, I’m the same way I don’t use the audio tracks at all! I can get unlimited vocal tracks in standalone without ever using any audio tracks!!
