Oh ya, always for NSF streams.
I am here
Yep, when I start the stream. Love NSF content.
Yes. Where did you get that intro for the stream?
Sure did! Thanks for the reminder, though. We get sucked into the video and forget.
I just realised I hasn't watched the catch over and over again 100 times yet today.
This will do nicely thank you.
10+ years ago, NASA did the sky crane trick. On Mars.
"slightly" more impressive.
@@AbuMohandes-p2cThose two manuevers are not the same at all. Both are still very impressive.
I fly from Europe to Texas just to see it fly🚀. I wasn't the only one. History is being made.
Best time to be alive. I witnessed Saturn V/Apollo 11 as a 6 year old boy and now all these wonderful new space vehicles today.
At times it doesn't seem like it was that long ago. With some of the in between time as just a blur. In between long lasting memories
One of the main reasons SpaceX has been so successful is that when they recover their boosters, they can do a full autopsy on it to look for what worked and what failed. This greatly helps with the iterations of designs and identifying flaws. No other space program has had this capability in the history of space flight. Now that they have caught a booster, I guarantee they are ripping it apart to look at how it preformed.
You can run simulators all day, but being able to do it in real life and still have it after has to be amazing data!
Thank you Jack for our wonderful Monday update/review. Can't live without these!
Really? You can’t live?
Flight 6 landing both the Starship and Booster, would be a good Christmas present
Amazing update Jack. Thank you and thank you NSF team for all the hard work in the back ground for this update.
Maybe we'll get one [expletive] of a *Christmas* present this year.
The old *OLM* can catch the *Booster* and the new *OLM* can catch the *Starship.*
I feel like it would be guaranteed if the ship went to orbit in flight 5. But there’s a chance they don’t want to risk that, and preform a successful deorbit burn first. But you never really know with Elon😂😂
Cool ! Super ! FanDamTastic !
Thank you for the great coverage!
It's a great time to be alive when it concerns space exploration!🎉
Thanks Jack 😊 Christmas Eve flight 6 launch.
Very informative, it's good to hear the latest developments.
Thumbs up. Gotta go down there for 3 days, didn't getta see a booster 😢
Thanks Jack for another awesome Starbase Update! Thank you & NSF!
Flying saucers are real now, I guess. That hot-staging ring isn't actually a ring - it's bowl-shaped! )
That's not flying, it's falling with style 😉
thank you jack
Flight 6 will be booster 13 and Starship 31 correct? That is neat.
Will be interesting how FTS is addressed in a full and rapid reuse environment. Handling explosives every few hours seems a bit dangerous, and leaving them on seems a bit dangerous.
8:19 - "Cable Tray" if it's static. "Energy Chain" or "Drag Chain" if it can articulate to allow a fixed length of cable or hose to follow a linear motion.
Dope intro animation sequence
@1:42 I didn't know Penske was still around 😂
We were there. It was awesome!
Imagine being there in 1971. When they actually put humans driving a 4WD EV on to the moon, instead of just a short hop into lower earth orbit without humans or payload.
@@AbuMohandes-p2c We'll go to the moon soon enough, but this time we'll have a livestream and FHD / 4K quality.
Thanks for the funnnn
thanks for the deep dive
just watching and waiting
Relax... Thanks for the coverage!
Need an updated intro video showing booster catch!
This is my prediction. Flight 6 will be a near repeat of 5 with the intention of proving that the landing accuracy of starship can be repeated. Flight 7 will be the first fully orbital flight and will stay in orbit for a few days deploying a few Starlink satellites. Flight 8 will be the first full Starlink deployment and starship catch attempt. Afterwards its more difficult to predict because of the change in administration. Will NASA explore the possibility of an Apollo 11 repeat using lunar starship as a crew transport from LEO to the lunar surface? (Yes I know they would have to bring a tanker with them) If so we may see the program shift rapidly towards testing of the Starship tanker and then Lunar Starship.
How are they planning on returning starship? The same as the booster?
@@1985NEVETS Yes, it's gonna be caught with the chopsticks too, for rapid reusability: re-fueling, re-stacking and re-launching.
@@conrado3391 that's awesome thanks for explaining
Good morning Sweet Jack. Great explanation. Your're very nice forever. ❤❤❤❤
Flight 6 ASAP please
We've been doing 10000+ launches in the past 100 years. Aren't you getting bored yet?
@@AbuMohandes-p2c with this particular program absolutely not. Falcon 9 yes.
I think yes maybe early december also what I think they are doing is going for the rest of version 1 Starships at tower 1/A and simontaniusly completing tower 2/B for version 2 Starships, that would give them 2 more launches and catches of version 1's then they could move over to tower 2/B and start revamping tower 1/A or they may keep the 2 different to see what works better over time we shall see that's for sure SpaceX is always doing something cheers to you jack and all the NSF crew
I’m wearing the same shirt!
I have been impatiently waiting 🇺🇸💪
That flexible cable tray you pointed out is in fact called a drag chain.
Peace out :)
(Slowly opens door to flame trench and looks around ) “yall did what now??”
Also amazing job D
Thanks for the awesomeness NSF
I approve of V2 electric boogaloo.
Nice Jack, look Like Harvey to me!
Hopefully, IFT 6 will feature an in-orbit relight of a sea level Raptor to simulate a de-orbit burn, and, hopefully, this won't take too much finagling with the FAA to add to the license. An absolutely essential validation step before Starship can go orbital.
They are looking for the hot staging ring off shore
Great
putting the booster down and connecting the qdc would ground the ship making it safer to remove the charges.
They caught the boostah!
What an intro ❤
Imagine if they decide to "Reuse" the hotstaging ring by keeping a boat nearby and fishing it everytime 🤣🤣🤣
Not happening, like ever.
I wonder if they'll try to catch the Starship next time
Elon said after 3 good landings in the ocean
Definitely not for flight six but probably sometime next year or in 26
He DID it. Shaaave.
they did the thing, so I did the thing
Yes
Every time they make a major change so they can move ahead the FAA will have to do their part of the process. The sooner they decide to make the next major change the sooner the FAA can complete its process and progress can happen. Let’s orbit the Ship on Flight 6, catch the booster, and bring back the booster for a catch.
The turn around time for between ifts is a month not a few days. I'm sure this will change in the future
Nope. SpaceX is running out of money. It will be bankrupt before they even get to the moon. Let alone Mars.
What’s with the hat? 😂. Looks insane
The mural looks like Gallifrey!
Elon's been a bit of a embarrassment lately, but I still love SpaceX and their vision. Bring on flight 6!
How so? I really don't follow the news cycle so I usually miss the highlights
Yeah, he should lay off the K for a while and watch videos of his own past remarks. Rediscover some of those principles he championed that he seems to think no longer apply.
@jblob5764 you aren't the only one.
The SpaceX vision is Elon's vision, as he is the CEO and founder. Without him, SpaceX wouldn't exist. Starship would only be a dream without his funding and vision. Also, he can cancel the Starship project whenever he wants. he is not obligated to continue spending so much on a project that doesn't have the potential to generate profit in the mid-term.
@@hazel_2992 You're confused. Elon got the ball rolling, but thousands of people dedicated to the mission are what make SpaceX possible. He seems confused about that mission lately, and people notice. They notice when things like getting Starlink banned in Brazil happen because of his outside activities.
GO S31 AND B13!
Probably didn't use the pins when lowering their catch as the bottom ring might have been slightly distorted on reentry.
JACK!
He said 31, 4 I WANT TO STAB MY EYES OUT!!! 😭
Chill out Dude !
Lets go
IFT 6 land Starship in the Gulf of Mexico?
awesome
when flight 7?
Flight 6 estimate - After Thanksgiving and before Christmas.
When Quick Disconnect analysis? How long has it been since it was recovered?! Moved from Port of Brownsville?
The intro.
Reminds me of Pacific Rim
Is the thickness of the ablative layer known? Shouldn’t it have to be pretty thick to do any good? Seem like that would add a lot of weight.
TPS total mass is 10.5 tons. Which is a lot (its about as much as a fully fueled Electron), but its not much compared to the rest of Starship
10.5 tons is a lot of payload...
@@rkan2 Not compared to 100 tons.
No talk of Starship 32. Being skipped correct?
Gostava mais do formato antigo dos vídeos.
"First recovered super heavy booster". Nah, you have to call it what it is, the first LANDED super heavy booster. That's way more impressive.
I heard there was free beer?
If there were, I would have got out the hospital and been there.
thanks for the info
Flight 6 will launch no earlier than Nov 19th
Is the "Gateway to Mars" sign not there anymore? What do you mean?
yeah they tore it down in the process of building Pad B
Getting things done. Respect for Elon.
Great schpiel, Jack! You really should be the full time host of updates. Just saying that the competition...ain't even close.
Jack is only as good as Elysia when he is his most enthusiastic self.
Mechazilla and Mecha-Rex (?). with it's stubby arms.
AT 9:49 MARK: The MISSION, THE MISSION, THE MISSION == The Mural. That's why!
When is it starting
Time to change that intro
So this launch system is supposed to turn around in an hour? It's going to take them a month to get to flight 6?
Me thinks you sound a bit like the guy who wanted to run before he learned to walk. Patience grasshopper! One step at a time.
GUYS I THINK THEY CAUGHT THE BOOSTER!!!!!!
Hello
what about e raptor
Does Jack try to change his look all the time to avoid the thronging fans?
bro they caught the booster
hellooo space geeks
Where did the intro come from?
Where's the guy with the beard? I liked him.
Jack can regrow a full beard in the time it takes me to just about get some stubble.
I am Jack's complete lack of beard
Any speculation why that one engine (@ 4:30 in the middle ring) is black and not 'flamey' like the others on this ring?
five of the second engine ring shut down before the rest in a pentagon pattern. Thats one of the engines that shut down before the rest, thus no flames.
@@colemantrebor1610 👍
WEN LAUNCH?
What's up with that yellow Jar-jar hat?
The Starship can launch only five times in a year. If a launch is postponed to next year, they will lose one opportunity
Any truth to the rumor that they are increasing the diameter of starship?
The FAA should mind their own business. The government can barely launch rockets
It's not the government that launches rockets, but a government funded agency called NASA that launches rockets and they have been doing it for 60 years. So they don't have a problem launching rockets. They just don't do it near as often as they used to.
Of course it will 😂
Flight 6 will happen before end of the year, unless they change the flight plan enough that the FAA has to get theirs hands in there.
they could launch b4 end of year but why rush and risk having a incident that could put them months behind
Ok
No no, not When, it’s Wen
Flight 7 on pad B?
No, because the launch pad will take most of next year to complete plus the SQD and the chop sticks must be added.
@@michaeldeierhoi4096 Makes sense.
SpaceX needs land in the Aussie outback,,at least to catch starship....
Outback Field is in soooo many sci phi stories..
