    One of the biggest differences between modern Muay Thai and Muay boran Is that there are no reaping techniques allowed in modern Muay Thai. All sweeps have to be bone on bone and if there's use of the knee or thigh to off balance at us be taken out of the way as the person falls

Most people associate Thailand and its neighbors solely with striking arts and have no awareness whatsoever that they hae some especially and equally vicious and effective grappling techniques. Good for you for ranging very far off the beaten path.

    Then spine lock on knee, I'm a life death street attack obviously can break the back. I use to teach this technique from a side head lock defence for survival, by shifting weight and striking to groin or not, then reaching up grabbing the hair or throat then push and lifting up the opponent then quickly dropping down and snapping back against the knee. This is dangerous just practice and there for should not be taught unless as you eluded to war or / very serious situations! However the escape can be used with no back/spine drop by merely grabbing hair or head and knee proceeding into a take down going into ground techniques or just a drop take down with standing fighting techniques.

      In life/death situation the only things that come out are the techniques you've trained 10,000 times. So unless you're doing that you're not going to get that spine lock.

    Great video! Once we go deep enough in the history of any martial art we find a lot of similarities across the board. This is largely because the human body is the human body across all cultures and nations, so when the goal is to find effective techniques we will all tend towards a lot of the same answers. Where these things get varied is when it comes to the rules of any specific sport, and how the rules of that sport push a set of moves to be uniquely suited to win in that sport.
    If we want true enlightenment in martial arts we need to see beyond the way a sport alters each art, and seek the history behind the moves.

    Interesting video. a jumping on opponents groin with your knee could be very effective once he is on the ground. the takedown with Americana at the end is interesting but no matter what I try I can't get Americana to work. I think the reverse ippon seoi nage that you showed in one of the previous videos is better than most of the throws shown here. the very first takedown is probably effective and good to have. as far as the one in which you slam your opponent against your knee. this might work but breaking someones back isn't that easy so I honestly have no idea. but I think its a good video.

      @@hieulechi2548 osoto gari makes sense except I would reap the lead leg with ouchi Gari (I believe that is what its called I'm not a martial artist) first then go for osoto gari once he is unbalanced at least that is what I saw on the videos I watched (I don't know enough about judo to really tell) but i have watched lots of videos on Americana and it was even showed step by step and I still can't make it work. I was able to make kimura work no problem. although it is difficult to do it against someone who knows what he is doing, while standing, on the ground its easier. armbar was no problem for me either although I missed some of the key aspects and I probably wouldn't be able to do it against someone who practices martial arts but I know how to do it and it works fine. with Americana I can't do it period. Even if someone simply lets me do it. its as if the move doesn't work at all for me and I still don't know what I'm doing wrong.
      at first i had trouble with a triangle but once I was able to put it on it always worked. when i was shown more key aspects It became easier to put on and more secure (I haven't spared with anyone at all I just learned how to do the move and my brother offered me resistance to the move but without really fighting back like trying to hit me or anything like that but I can do it and I can make it tight) and more effective. same thing with everything else except Americana

    Can you do a video on Lancashire up and down fighting. Which was the ancestor of catch wrestling. It had wrestling( with SUBMISSION) and strikes. It was kind of like mma. But after the invention of Lancashire up and down catch wrestling ALL the dangerous moves were removed ( including submission). Later came back by Roy he time of Yukio Tank. Mr. Tani was the FIRST carnival wrestler mentioned in UK history ( to my knowledge). And catch wrestling (with submission) got started in carnival. Same thing with Greco Roman wrestling ( In the carnival). Heck there USED to be pro Greco Roman wrestling. LOL.

When Alexander the Great travelled east these techniques went with them. Its not east getting information on Pankration but from what images are available you'll see that even their striking stances are similar to that of thai boxing. Something to think about.

    Muay thai + Take down/throwing techniques = Muay Boran.
    Today Muay thai is pretty much standing tall and kicking hard, which has good and bad aspects for today self defense. Thai people today somehow love seeing people beating the sht out of each others on their feet, rather they keep throwing each others on the ground. Hence, Muay thai doesnt have many take downs/throwing anymore. They do sweeping sometime but thats it. Also, note that Muay boran never had any ground submissions. In battlefield or even today street fight, once you get thrown down, you're pretty much dead. Street fight aint MMA where there are rules to protect fighters. Once you throw the person down, you can stomp him dead, smack him with any object, and many more possibilities to finish/kill him off.

  • @ralphdooberry4222
    @ralphdooberry4222 10 месяцев назад +1

    You are relating it to a sport where there are rules. Muay Boran came about in the 18th century during wars and was designed to destroy the opponent. True Muay Boran could not be used in competition in any way shape or form.

    Everything you see about falls and twists in Karate or what Muay Boran may have about it, has much more chance of having come from the Chinese martial ways than having come from Jujutsu. And Jujutsu itself historically has chances to have come from Chinese ways. Unfortunately here in Brazil there is a lot of false information and the tendency of the majority is to believe that everything that exists came from Jujutsu. This is not a fact. China is the oldest there and with the greatest development of bare-hand techniques. Clearly in some schools of Jujutsu such as Aikijujutsu, we see signs of knowledge that came from the Chinese arts.

    I’m Thai and have done some martial arts for quite a while. This topic has been debated for a really long time that do MuayThai really includes grappling at all. So far, there’s no evidence that show muaythai, even the old one, has anything to do with grappling at all. So I’m kinda curious where did you get all this info? Most evidences right now are from modern time, but there’s no ancient record of it (except one temple picture showing two guys doing something on a ground that might or might not be grappling).

    • @rollzkushgaming6862

      @@rollzkushgaming6862 I do understand that grappling was used in ancient time. I’m studying jiu-jitsu and wrestling as well so I’m aware. But my point is that MuayThai does not include grappling at all, as far as record goes. Ancient Thai army was using muaythai and krabi-krabong (sword fighting) in old times, but no record of grappling though.

    • @MNattorn

      @@sunfoodd What do you mean? The techniques shown in this video are grappling and it’s been known for a long time in muay boran and krabi krabong community. The records are the people, the Kru Muay that pass down the techniques in their camps. They might not write books about it, but the techniques has been taught and practice through the history. The fact that you didn’t find something on the internet doesn’t mean there’s no record.

    • @sunfoodd
      @sunfoodd Год назад

      @@MNattorn If you read at all, I’ve wrote that I studied them. I don’t just google it, I STUDY muaythai, jiujitsu, boxing and mma in real life. And the point that I’m making is because there is no record at all, none of my muaythai teachers ever talk about it and no support evidences about it. History is learned through records and evidences, you can’t just say something exists just because people talk about it.

    • @MNattorn
      @MNattorn Год назад +1

      @@sunfoodd What do you think grappling means? If you mean lie down on the ground and wrestling, then I agree. That’s not muay boran’s move. You obviously can’t fight on the ground in battle field. But to grab your opponent and trow them or breaking bones, that’s definitely there. There are a lot of moves that include those tactics. If you really want historical evidences, then you should go to the real institute like Kru Praeng or Kru Keng Ayuthaya and go from there. I’m sure there will be tangible evidences to satisfy you. But for most of us, I think it’s pretty obvious that muay thai and muay boran includes grappling.
