Historacally had usa a huge advantage due to they could use their extra manpower to invest in factories rather than making a large army. According to (The War Economies of the major combatants during WW2 WW2Tv) Germany had mobilized 18 of 80 million people or 22.5 % of their population comparitaly to Usa 16.5 of 135 million or 12.2 %. Usa had a bigger population and smaller army making them able to produce even more equipment. This allowed Us to supply the allies even more. So it would make sense in hoi4 to make manpower to either used as soilders or to help industry. Furthermore in the video its told that having more than 10 % of countries population would havevilly hamper a country economically. You need a certain amount of people just to staff bakeries and hospitals for example. It would be good to make hoi4 more of a economic game but not to high level becuase that could raise the bar for newcomers. It could be a option to if u mastered the basics for veterans. 100%, some people act like focus shouldn't be put on the industry and economy side of this and should focus on things like combat, but forget that this is a grand strategy game, where industry and economicsis war. It would massively increase the depth of the logistical side of the game, instead of a tab you push that makes you a totally mobilized nation
The US before the war already had a much larger industrial base than Germany, which makes sense because it had more population, more land and more natural resources. The Germans knew that they would need to conquer Europe and fortify the coastline (Atlantikwall) before the Americans joined the war and they raided the supply convoys on the Atlantic heavily. What they did not account for was the invention of sonar (See: Das Boot) and Alan Turing's effort to crack the Enigma machine. That, and Japan attacking Pearl Harbor against the Germans express advice. And Italy being trash. And the Soviets not surrendering. Mistakes were made.
@TheSuperappelflap mostly correct, but Germany was elated when Japan attacked the US, as they thought they would be able to bog down the US Navy while they wrapped things up in the east. Germany had infact been hoping that Japan would take some action against the US and the allies for some time by the point it attacked Pearl Harbor, so it's not like it took Germany by surprise, even if they didn't know the exact day or means of attack
Not at all. Fundamental research can be in any field, it's research to produce and explain knowledge, with no concrete application. It is opposed to applied research where you're doing research to produce something useful. In the case of nuclear physic (IE physics about the nucleus of an atom), when Enrico Fermi got a Nobel prize for discovering new elements by bombarding them and for discovering the neutrino, he was doing fundamental research, he was just making new knowledge. When he worked on the Manhattan project to create an atomic bomb, he was doing applied research' the goal was to create a bomb.
@krankarvolund7771 I agree that fundamental research by itself does not imply physics. I was just answering his implicit question how fundamental research was related to nuclear physics.
@@peperoni_pepino Yeah, but you're answering it wrong ^^ You said that fundamental means "researching the smallest parts that can be combined to make anything bigger", but it's not. @@krankarvolund7771 I can't tell how much physics you know, so this might be mansplaining: As far as we know, gravity cannot be constructed out of anything smaller. Although gravity affects huge objects, it is still a small part in this sense. In physics we indeed use 'fundamental' for the most basic building blocks that we are aware of, such that anything else can be build from them. This means that gravity, the electroweak force (which at our energy splits into the electromagnetic force and the weak (nuclear) force), and the strong (nuclear) force are currently considered fundamental interactions. The latter was of course still unknown during the period of this video, as it was discovered in the 70's.

Dave why so many on trains all game? 3 feels like a lot when you'r ejuggling artillery/guns. Just curious why once you have 65+ armored trains you kept them (eventually it got reduced but curious why so long).
