I really enjoyed this movie. I personally think that Gabriel is one of the coolest slasher characters we’ve gotten in recent years.
This!
Yep! We totally agree! This was one of our favourite movies from 2021!
Yeah you don’t see Jason CRAWLING OUT OF THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD you usually just crushes it worth his bare hands
idk why people hated this film, I had fun with it
I really liked it honestly. 🙌🏼❤️
The reveal of Gabriel was awesome and memorable much like the jail fight scene along with the rest of the movie, I really liked the way Gabriel moved about. At times it was really unnerving to me.
Malignant was dope as hell! It was such a enjoyable fun movie to watch! Annabelle is a very underrated actress and her acting in Malignant was really good. The death scenes are solid and brutal and Gabriel was a awesome slasher villain.
Beautiful cinematography too.
Malignant is also a wild version of Basket Case 1982 ;)
Non horror related reference but it also kinda reminds me of KO and TKO from the ok KO series, if you know you know
One thing I noticed while watching the movie is that when the film cuts to the hospital where Madison is staying after the “home invasion” one of the numbers on the heart monitor is 69, which looks like the symbol for the astrological sign Cancer. I think that’s a call back to the beginning of the film where Dr. Weaver says “it’s time we cut out the cancer” referring to Gabriel
nice
I sort of loved how this movie played with its supernatural element by going the psychological/body horror approach. Also personally I like to think Wan's use of the spiral in his movies is a representation as the characters and the audiences either going into or facing the unknown. Guess you can say Its Wan's metaphor for how in characters lives in a horror or detective movie spiral out of control once they stumble upon something they shouldn't have.
It’s cool how the actress who plays Emily’s and Gabriel’s mum when she was a girl is the actress who played Janet in The Conjuring 2
Yes Mckenna Grace
@@syllogist_666No her name is Madison Wolfe. That's the actress who plays the younger version of the mother in this movie.
@@syllogist_666Mckenna Grace plays the younger version of the main protagonist Madison in this movie.
Also she starred as Judy Warren in Annabelle Comes Home
@@zaquibahmed5602 shit sorry 😅 I just read my reply again and realised
I loved EVERYTHING about this movie...story, music, practical effects... Saw it 3 times in the theater and bought the Blu-ray as soon as it released. I'm 48 and I feel like this movie was made for people around my age with all the 80s vibes.
I'm 24 and I love it it's my favorite movie of all time (or among them)
Bit of side note (as usual), the surgery in the open credit scene where there's a pair of scissors in the girls' eye ball might be strabismus surgery. It's a surgical procedure aimed to correct eye misalignment. (not bc of craniopagus, but could be a clue about how they tried to 'correct' Gabriel) Anyway, LOVE this video. And the editing is amazing. Looking forward to Gabriel's horror history.
I do love how this movie is a mix of cheesy B movie but also has some great S tier effects and scares
The Gabriel reveal was awesome
@@CZsWorld Do you still like Weezer?
@@beigefig yes
@@CZsWorld awesome. ive seen your 10 year old comments in multiple weezer related videos
@@CZsWorld and who you calling stupid?!🤣 You out here looking like a clean cut Dobby from Harry Potter
Also the nurse at the beginning is Patricia Velasquez. She was in The Woman in White and was also Ankhsenamun in The Mummy.
I like that the Caduceus is upside down showing the distortion of medicine.
Please never stop making this kind of videos. It's so interesting to know about the hidden and unknown details.
I would love to see your thoughts on the hellraiser franchise. You are so unbelievably through it blows my mind!
This was one of our favourite movies of 2021. It was such a fun movie! It was cheesy and you could pick it apart, but that aside it was something new in the modern horror scene!
I'm glad you did this episode, I was pumped as soon as I heard you were doing it haha!
Your shirt made my day..my grandma used to call that place birdbath and beyond. She also called my sister's Tahoe a taco..your sister is gone off in that taco again..side note..that one long pan shot where she starts at the top and it follows her is freaking awesome
A little unrelated fact; the actor who plays Derek also plays the “Vessel” of Arch Angel Michael in an old TV show I used to work on when I was younger.
Was he Adam in Supernatural?
He was also was Luke in the Percy Jackson films
Another possible reason for the butterfly could be the term, Purple Butterfly Baby. This is used for a baby who had been part of twins or more, but not all their siblings survived. This is slightly similar to this situation, though according to my search, this applies when the survivor knows, and while I haven’t seen the movie, it seems Madison didn’t get this.
It’s evocative of 90s B rated horror films. It’s like James Wan’s first grindhouse homage.
I enjoyed the hell out of this movie!
I liked the crazy twist where they don't show us who Gabriel is, until we see what he really is, what he wants and how he's gonna get it, even if it means slaughtering anyone that gets in his way.
I caught all the parasitic twin references in the opening credits. They were very obvious. I wonder why Wan did that
well, dunno if you noticed but Malignant has the same crazy plot with the evil twin just like Basket Case plus the thing with the 3 doctors that worked on Madison and the tumor twin just like what went on in Basket Case
I don't know if I was the first to notice this but turning the big reveal scene where they show Gabriel. The side view makes it look like Emily May has a pair of featherless wings. It might be just me, but still maybe playing off of the motifs of fallen Angel
damn you look like Alex Navarro from Giant Bomb
I just watched this movie yesterday. It's pretty good. Some of it reminded of Stranger Things and Lights Out.
11:15 - That Silvercup logo was used in the movie Highlander during the climactic fight.
Surprised you missed that!
This movie was so underrated :(
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Another thing to note with the butterfly symbolism is the butterfly effect
The way Gabriel sharpens his blade is similar to another James wan film with the lip stick face demon sharpening his nails
Honestly Malignant had no business being so amazing and the twist was honestly so unexpected but such a fresh take I absolutely fell in love with it. Loved your analysis by the way!
James Wan watched Frank Henenlotter films and thought, you know what? Let's take risks. I kinda knew the twist but at the same time, I was like Nah, no way it's going there.....Oh, let's go movie. It had a little bit of the Dark Half as well.
I watched this movie because of your poll, no regrets this is my favorite movie now
You're getting buff 💪
That Futurama reference 9:12 🤣
Your video made me appreciate this movie much more
Do horror history on leena klammer from orphan
i was bored in youtube until you posted like fr
Dope
This movie was so good ! I loved all the plot twist and turns that came with it . The ending had to be my favorite part where she was able to finally regain control.
I remember when i watched this movie almost one year ago and it wasn't really that bad. Also, I love this story and acting no matter how it's underrated.
Hard to believe it's already been out for a year.
You didn’t even mention bloody Zoe Bell !
The movie was spoiled for me before I saw it, yet somehow both reveals made me gasp! The visuals and set up were that strong!!!
Went to see this movie and ended up really enjoying it. Gabriel was really cool, the whole parasitic twin was interesting to me. Hoping for Malignant 2
Only if James Wan is doing it.
@@CZsWorld Agreed, really didn’t like The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, you can tell James wasn’t the one directing it. But yes, James Wan needs to be the one doing Malignant 2 if he makes one, which i think he will tbh
Hey... I don't know if you noticed it too but maybe you missed one thing.
The one who played as the young version of Serene May (madison's mom) is the same girl who was in Conjuring 2 and her screen name is Madison too😭
Are you gonna do a horror history for Damien thorn?
Nice shirt. Lol 😆 Nice vid.😃
Best Horror Channel on RUclips! 👻
I loved this movie!! Thanks for doing a things you missed on this movie!
I'm glad you talked about the opening credits...I was like, "I can't be the only person the credits spoiled the plot for..." I still loved the movie, but yeaaah, that was NOT a surprise. Not at all. Gabriel's fight scenes were PHENOMENAL and I actually liked Madison, which, face it, is weird...a likable protagonist is unheard of these days.
I wonder if you would do an episode of jeepers creepers. There is a new movie coming out this month.
That “Kif I’m asking you a question” killed me lmao
When will the horror history on Gabriel come out?
I want Gabriel back. Dude was badass
Thank you for the Fight club spoiler warning. It’s on my to read list
Finally a horror movie in Seattle! Hopefully we'll see more. I love your breakdowns, keep up the great work.
Bruh there are a BUNCH of horror movies based in Seattle lmao or right around Seattle
This is one of my favorite horror movies that's come out the last couple years I got it for Christmas last year I love it so much I wish it would have gone crazy earlier in the movie and just rolled with pure over the top cheese and camp.
I saw the end coming, but damn if I hadn't have it would have been a great reveal
They may have thunderbolts and lightning...... but are they very very frightening?
Enquiring minds want to know..... 🤔
Can you do paranormal activity
I can't find the Gabriel horror history video. . . Was it not made?
Seeing some critic reviews I expected it to be not so good, but actually it's so cool! Not perfect, but a very good movie nonetheless! Interesting, thank you.
love your work and i love this movie!
One of the greatest slasher that came out recently James Wan and Indgrid Bisu are geniuses 🙏🏻
Just stopping by to let you know that you've got another new subscriber. I don't like scary movies - in fact I genuinely hate jumpscares and violence in general. But I like the art of storytelling and learning new things, especially from people that can share their knowledge in interesting ways. I've watched lots of your "Things You Missed" videos the last couple of days (along with the Screen Rant video which gave me another good reason to subscribe to your channel), and I'm looking forward to learn more. Thanks for sharing your passion in a way that get even people like me on the hook, I really appreciate it!
Lets gooo! another czworld video :D
I need this shirt
I'm happy James decided to make this movie. I just enjoyed watching the action and the horror in it it's great. But I also felt bad for her as it's nothing she could really do and her brother didn't care much about her pain maybe because she had a body she's the lucky one to him even though your literally controlling her and making do horrible things.
Loved this movie, it's so underrated!
My man’s a hodler of BBBY. My man.
My favorite part was when Gabriel yeeted a chair across the room for a direct hit. I'll never forget it.
Facts. Made the movie a 10/10
@@Owen01 heavily agreed 😂😂
That scene had my laughing for days! 😂
Do Smile next
You're so funny to me, I think it's because you always seems so dead ass serious. But the words betray the face and eyes sometimes. I love your videos, looking strong too man! Thanks for the stuffs.
This movie was very insidious and saw like. Another James wan masterpiece
Ah that sounds a bit like “Yah-nus”
CZ: “JAYNOOS”
Zac: "They literally made a movie out of Aquaman."
Me: Let me guess-- his only weakness is tartar sauce, which he's threatened with at least once per movie. 😀
we don't talk about fight club
Nice job CZ
I enjoyed this movie so much it surprised me, lol. A note on the whole names vs nature thing; the doctor's first name is Florence, which isn't just the name of a city but literally means flowering. 😆
This movie was solid and phenomenal. I was really shocked by the twist.
And the opening soundtrack was AMAZING!!!
When I saw videos about Gabriel's reveal they said it was hilarious because of his waving arms and I just said "bitch please"
Yay a new video
Enjoy!
I have another creepypasta video idea for you can you do a creepypasta video on splash mountain because that ride is going to retheme to princess and the frog I thought I would bring that idea because you did a tower of Terror creepypasta video years ago before that ride was retheme to guardians of the galaxy I first found your channel because of the tower of terror creepypasta video that you did thanks for that story I believe you can do the same thing for splash mountain
I actually loved this movie! I thought it was a solid film!
I would love to get your take on the old horror films. I just watched Sleepaway Camp and I need someone to explain it to me.
I thought the analogy about the butterfly was for Madison moving on from Gabriel after the events.
this movie made me go "WTF" so many times... 😭
Pls do more Halloween
So many people crapped on this movie when it came out. I thought it was a fun film to watch! It didn’t strike me as something trying to be super scary like the conjuring series was.
I just now noticed how riped shaggy is
I finally figured out how to donate!
😂❤
Thanks again, for your videos. I'll hold up on the pirate site. Your crew needs to eat.
Thanks for the support 🫡
I hate (really hate; I don't watch them) horror movies. Comedy/parody movies I watch but just horror movies I don't. Which is how you can tell just how well CZ does in his videos. He's very spellbinding and no matter my views on the movies; I love CZ's videos.
Well done CZ🤘🤙
Hey man, big fan over here! Could u do a character analysist of the girl from the ring or perhaps Ju-on (from the grudge). Would love to see it♥️
Omg, love your shirt!
Very misunderstood movie. I loved it
Please do nope ☁movie
Cool things to know!
Working on it!
Just click the lick 😅
"Se-Seven-En"... 🤭😄😁😆😅😂🤣😭☠️👻
The shirt blood bath and beyond has a new meaning after the CFO jumped from his apartment.
In the Army, we called that the is statue cadeuces. All of us in the medical corps wore them on our Dress/Class A uniforn
You should really do a things you missed on the movie The Black Phone!!
@czsworld next do the horror film freaky it has some parallels to scream and Halloween franchise
I'm still kind of disappointed that there never was a sequel to dead silence.
I love watching these b/c I haven't seen a lot of the movies he's covered for there so it's like a TLDR for the movies lol
"Se-7-en" - HA! its these little things that make me enjoy your content even more!!! The history of stories/characters/demons etc are always amazing but these lil zingers always get me!
The intro well excuse me
