Thx it makes fishing much much easier. Totally game changer 😎 I can replace the fish finder with the depth chart on my phone, but won’t go back to anchors any more 🤪
When I set my xi3 to anchor mode it seems to be hit or miss to keep it within a 5’ to 20’ area. When I come up to a spot and push anchor, almost every time, it immediately reverses is backwards about 10-15’ and then slowly creeps up to within about 5’ of the spot. Any tips or tricks to using anchor mode effectively?
I think that reverse is caused by the fact that the boat is still moving noticeably. I try to hit the spot lock once the speed is less than 1 mph, more preferably
Could be good. Are you placing it on bow or transom? It also depends on the load onboard. Better check the distance from the top of the boat to the water before getting one. It also has like 45 and 54 inches shaft version.
When people finally evolve enough to understand how gps motors actually work, the complaining crowd will shrink. The computer has to make small adjustments, THEN analyze the RESULTS of that effort, reconfigure, readjust, then do it all again, all while depending on a satellite to send it ALL the information. NOW, on a CALM day, how can spotlock possibly work???? Answer? It CANNOT. That's not what this was designed for. Spotlock can only make adjustments to a CONSTANT force (a breeze) pushing the gps puck in one direction. There are no brakes to stop the boat immediately after each and every adjustment, so, it CONSTANTLY is trying to correct itself. Testing accuracy of a gps motor on a calm day is absolutely unaccredited and the results are hogwash. You must first understand how they work before you test them for judgment!
Solid information.
Thanks for watching and commenting 😎
Like the way your boat is set up great job
Thx I try my best to make my small boat more capable of fishing 😎
Excellent video
Thx Jerry! I like your photo that’s a big crappie!
can you tell how you paired garmin with motorguide? Thanks from germany
Didn’t pair them, sorry. I just read the GPS on Garmin…
@@SteveChenFishing ahhh ok, that's a pity anyway thanks for the quick reply
@@spezilux No problem bro. Hope you like your MotorGuide trolling motor!
@@SteveChenFishing Do know how to pair?
@@ingusskursitis3802 never tried…
Hey Steven, hows the motorguide working out for you. Is it better than its competitor like Minn Kota? Happy New year to you. Stay safe out there.
Hi Mark, long time no see. Yea it’s been doing well, not sure about Minn Kita since they don’t have such a small footprint one … happy new year!
Nice test!

@@SteveChenFishing thank you! It does help and I will try this more. I know it just takes a little patience too.
How did you link your garmin to motorguide xi3?
I didn’t get it linked 😝
When you put in the a location on your garmin does your xi3 navigate?
I mean if you put in a waypoint not location I'm sorry
@@lilhugh01 Unfortunately no...
Do you think trolling motor would be long enough for a 14’ Flat bottom Jon boat?

Did you get one and see if it was long enough? Im trying todo the same
How ya like that battery?
So far so good

Totally agree with you! Constant force condition is when the gps spot lock shines!
