I like the idea of having a bow mount trolling motor, but what happens when you hit a stump or other structure. No give and that would suck. You make great videos by the way.

Hey brother quick question - the motor is stamped as needing 6ga wire but I see you didn’t opt for that and you mentioned it’s because it’s the 12v model. So is mine. How has it performed with the lighter wire? I love that power connector you used but they don’t have a 6ga version.

I don't intend to say 10AWG is insufficient for your build... it's probably fine. But it sounds like you're thinking higher voltages need thicker wires.
Typically, the reverse is true. A motor drawing similar power at higher voltage will do so at fewer amps. The amps determine whether your wires will overheat, so higher voltage = lower amperage = thinner wires.

@@KayakUSA1 thanks TJ. I’ve seen it mentioned on numerous websites but I just can’t seem to find it on the ALEA website.

There comes a point to where why not just run a boat? This yak has got to be over 12K with all the stuff and the trailer.

I’m just getting into kayak fishing and want to have a motor option. I’m weighing an already rigged option like old town autopilot vs DIY with bonafide like @flukemaster. Would you recommend one over another or pros and cons of both options
