- Join Lukasz from @EYExplore as he looks at creating layers in street photography in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
Using the GR IIIx he talks through what materials and subjects to consider adding in the shot to create layers, such as glass, frames and reflections. These are all things that you'll be able to easily find in the street to add creativity and depth to your photography. He also covers which aperture to consider for a defocussed background and also to control the amount coming into the camera.
This is part of the GR Cities project where we hold events for GR photographers in their city. Here when images are uploaded to Instagram, hashtags such as #shootGR_London, #shootGR_Paris #shootGR_Tokyo are added so we can find them easily. You can register your interest in GR Cities events here:

Lukasz very informative as always.
Thanks!! :)
I bought a GRIII from the Ricoh website this year because of these videos with Lucasz. The Asakusa video sold me 100% on the quality and versatility of the GR line, so now I'm finally part of the club. The intelligent shooting modes like snap distance priority and one-touch auto exposure in M mode blew my mind. It's probably the most synergy I have experienced using a camera in a long time. 🙏
It really is synergistic. I always say the GR feels like and extension of the hand and eye. :)
Ah fantastic - great to see Lukasz out and about
:)
I like how the camera operator (Axel?) is making layered compositions while Lukasz is talking about layered compositions :)
Yes!! He's a genius. :)
Gave me some great ideas for my trip to Japan. Much appreciated!
I loved the layering techniques in shooting street photography. Very informative and prectical in this genre 💙👍
Glad to hear that! :)
Thank you Lukaz! Always a good eye to explore!
Thanks for your continued support for us, viewers, learners, others; producing this video. Now, I better understand about creating layers. I’m not a street photographer, but occasionally have an, “capturing the moment.” I also have to ask, I noticed in your other videos too, you’re always have that “cross-body EDC” bag. What brand is it and any other details you’d like to share? Thanks again!!
Thanks! The bag is from a company called Squallo Works. I think they only sell them in Japan.
Informative and interesting video. I'll need to find situations to use this.
Glad to hear that! :)
I’m waiting for the video ‘How to create whatever with the Ricoh GR IV WR’
I've never noticed an issue. It's pretty small, you can easily cover it from the rain with a hand or umbrella. And the Nisi filter system keeps dust from the lens pretty well. I haven't tried a sandstorm yet, though. 😂
Wow the button shots are so cool
Thanks!! :)
Thank You 🙏🏼
Thats a Cool Video..Thank you Guys
thank you
Very nice 👍🏻
👍👍
Thanks Lukaz
Thanks for watching! :)
Thanks. Good ideas. Loved the reflection shots
Thank you!! :)
Please Ricoh! Make us a full frame version of your GR. We will buy it!
Here’s your slogan “full frame in the palm of your hand” 😎👌
great examples and some great images and I took notes
Awesome! :)
Thanks for the video. My GRiii is in the post. I’ve sold all my bulky gear. 😎
Will the GR IV come out soon?
Hi Lukasz, very helpful Videos, thanks so much for it. Also i find you Bag cool. Can you tell me please the Model?
Hello Lukasz, I would be very happy if you could tell me something about your camera bag. Thank you and please keep up the good work with your great videos about the GR series.
Thanks! The bag is from a company called Squallo Works. I think they only sell them in Japan.
Thank you for sharing! What is the lens?
Hi Lukasz, I really like your Videos! Did you ever use the Snap Distance Priority as I want to give it a try.
Thanks!! I saw that it was added in a recent update, and I can see how it might be useful (actually a friend of mine likes it and uses it) but I find it more intuitive to do it the normal way. Maybe it's just because I've been doing zone/snap focus for years and it just feels natural to me. :)
"layers in street photography" ah so you mean stalker photos :D joke a side. Great vid I enjoy it
boring and tasteless. taking pictures behind ppls back. so creepy
No one cares, release the GRIV
