I know reading isn’t everyone’s interest but I hope if this isn’t yours you can share one that is 🥰 so many lovely hobbies out there that are so rewarding. Sending much love and let me know what types of videos you’d like to see in the future!

This is lovely, Paola. I loved the 'Beauty and the Beast library. Love old libraries and smell of old books. My oldest son is an avid reader. I loved reading to my boys when they were all little, most especially children's books. I don't read much, except church things or baby books to my two grands.

At age 73 I still have an affinity for magic, fairies and books. I write poetry and stories, many of them for my grandchildren. After 40 some years as Registered nurses, my wife and I are retired and are creating our secret garden. Pleased to find someone like minded. May I recommend Gone Away Lake and Return to Gone Away by Elizabeth Enright. First read them as a child in the 50's. They take me to a place and people I cherish. Will certainly look into your new book. All the best.

My favorite book from childhood is “A Little Princess.” It’s about a girl left at a very proper girls school in London while her father was in South Africa getting rich off a diamond mine. She was very rich when she started at the school and the women at the school fawned over her. Later, she received word that her father had lost his fortune and died and the women at the school made her a servant. Rich or poor, though, Sara was the same kind, generous spirit. Also, her father had one more gift for her that eventually arrived.

Watching this video inspired me to get back to it as I lost my touch when it comes to books because I let myself be consumed by social media and screen time. It’s funny you mention all day in a library. I LOVE going to a library and can spend hours. It stemmed from the fact we never had a lot of money growing up but I could shop till my hearts content at the library. Magazines, newspapers, genealogy, fiction, non fiction, auto biographies, today they even have kits you can borrow and return, movies cd’s. The one job I hope is still available when I retire is to become a librarian. The world has no idea how important they are. I get that e have the Internet so much is free now but nothing compares to the calm, smells, lighting, mood of a library.

Way back in the early 80s I attended an educators reading convention in Denver and Tasha Tudor was a speaker. Such a darling little person! In the question and answer session she was asked where she got her inspiration for all her beautiful little animal drawings. And she said, "Well, really, roadkill." 500 teachers gasped, then roared with laughter!! Your library looks beautiful! I don't think a day has gone by since I was in 4th grade and really remember that Nancy Drew book (that made my heart actually beat harder) that I haven't read at least before bed.

I too added a home library (floor to ceiling and wall to wall with bookshelves), and it’s my sacred space for reading, resting, dreaming, and gathering myself. We book-loving introverts must have our energy re-charging stations! ☺️ My garden and my library are essential to my well-being. Yours is lovely, Paola. (Mine has green walls too…so calming.) Paola, first let me say: congratulations, you’ve almost reached 1 million subscribers AND you never fail to create wonderful, inspirational content that makes me fall in love with the world again. When I was 13, my small, yet whimsical space was overflowing with books. I donated many of them a while ago when we moved from a Spanish airbase to the United States. It was hard to let go of the novels I had grown up with…the novels that I treasured. I stashed many of them away in boxes so that I wouldn’t have to part with them. Fast forward a year and a series of events occurred that made me forget how beautiful reading was. I again sold/donated my books because at that time, I lost that sense of passion for reading. When I started watching your channel, I found myself cherishing the little things, like nature and wildflowers and books. You changed my life, I believe.

I was a bookseller, it was my working profession. You can imagine I had thousands of books. When I moved some years ago I gave three quarters of them away. Now there are only a few hundred left.
It was very hard for me, because I can easily let go things except books.
But it was necessary, because there was simply no place for them anymore and they started to overwhelm me. It was a long process, and I still miss some of them, but their stories stay in my heart...

That was one of the first books I really read as an adult. Sadly, I did not grow up with books in the house as a child & was not encouraged to read. It was only after I had my daughter that I developed a love of reading. And now it is my passion as is sewing. Muchas Gracias. Mi esposo es de Cuba.

She is now sharing that with our daughter, who is so immersed in the magical realm of the story that she asks for it before bed every night. As soon as we tell her we can't read her a bed time story if she isn't in bed, her face lights up, she runs into her room, and dives under her covers for story time! I was so glad to see your reply. I recall reading this book at my Italian grandparents home. My grandparents Nino & Regina immigrated from Salo and Maderno, Italy around lake Garda. Five little Peppers is a old book. Mine is dated 1938. We went to dinner every Sunday at my grandparents and I brought my book with me. I have such fond memories of reading this at my loving grandparents home. Those long ago days bring a smile to me too! Greetings to you from Michigan, US

It paints the fair folk in a not too rosy light, I'm afraid, but is actually quite true to traditional stories. it also turns the image of the story book witch on its head. Also, vitally, it has a girl as the main protagonist and is an inspiration for all girls, young and old. Highly recommended.

    Hi Paola,
I so enjoyed your video, as always! I am a retired school teacher and have an enormous number of books.
My husband has built me 2 gorgeous bookshelves, but I still have many boxes of books.
I just wanted to share something I did with my students while reading with them.
We "built" a little "barn" in a corner of the classroom. We just used red bulletin board paper to make the "roof."
We drew black lines to make it look something like shingles. I traced an enlarged projection of Wilbur ,standing/leaning
next to the fence in his yard, onto pink paper. My husband built us a quick little fence for Wilbur's yard. And we borrowed
a milking stool from his parents for "Fern" to sit on while she visited with Wilbur. Each day one of my students was allowed
to go to "Wilbur's yard" and read to him. It just happened one day one of my asked if he could read to Wilbur! I was so
delighted and, of course, let him use his earned time to read to Wilbur. That boy had never shown any interest in reading until
that day. It still warms my heart thinking about him. All my students got to have a turn as the days passed. It was so exciting
to see their eyes sparkle as each student's turn approached.
    Must go, ALOHA,
Sue (grew up in Hawaii) (now living with woods all around us in northern Maine)
