    Interesting comments about Marty, which concur with mine. As Marty would love to talk to the fans in the years before he died, but he just had the worst attitude of anyone I ever meant. Of course, I was both an Elvis fan and interviewed him professionally as I used to write for a few online Elvis magazines such as EPGold, and what got me was this. As Marty would lay into so many people for making money off Elvis' name, etc., but he would find more ways to skin a cat in that way than anyone I know. Well, both he and Lamar, if I'm to be fully honest. So, one year, the 'Brain Trust' decided that for $60+, they would confer upon you status as an 'Honorary Member of the Memphis Mafia." When, of course, how they had that right was beyond me, but the money was no big deal, so I thought I would see what was up?
    And what I received was a piece of typing paper with Christmas Bells outlining it and their signatures. lol When it literally had to be the cheesiest thing I have ever seen, and trust me, a 5th grader could have made something more professional. As it wouldn't have taken much to invest in some good, quality stock, beige bond paper and a decent $5 Wal-Mart frame. But that would have increased costs up to $9 given you could do Priority Mail then, for $3.75, and would have only had a profit of $50.25, per grand piece, but that wouldn't have been enough. Therefore, being generous and allowing for $1 per piece of paper and ink, plus shipping costs, $55 profit - per certificate - had to be the goal. lol
    Though, honestly, I do have to say I've gotten more enjoyment out of the piece, telling the story, and showing it off, as opposed to if it was even anything of even the slightest quality. But, Marty could be funny in his own odd way and Lamar was actually a really funny and intelligent individual but simply never allowed himself to grow given the opportunity he had in the record industry. Thus I know they were both always struggling to make a buck. Sad, but true.
    While you do a really nice job with these interviews, Joe, but on the day you interviewed Lamar - he seemed to be cranky and not so much more of his usual funny and articulate self.
    God bless and I hope you are doing well as I struggle with a disability myself. Sincerely ` Christopher Tyler

    I really enjoyed this conversation. So, Patty was the girl in the white dress sitting on the stage. All this time and never knew that.
    So, it seems that out of everyone, that Patty probably had the "longest continuous relationship" with EP and seeing him on a regular basis. It certainly wasn't the MM because they left, got fired, came back, etc. It wasn't Prissy. It wasn't the girlfriends. I don't even think that it was Billy.
    Patty was there during the Hollywood days beginning in 1960 and coming over to his house on a regular basis when he was filming; Ann-Margret liaison; the 68 Comeback Special, Vegas and the Aloha Special. I guess she went on some tours, but I don't think she specifically said that. She traveled with him, to Palm Springs, Hawaii and was at Graceland. I think it was the last two years that she said he mainly stayed in Memphis.
    I liked the fact that she was always "honest" with him and "said what was on her mind." I certainly would have liked to hear some of those conversations! I think he respected that. Anita W. is the only other one I recall saying that she'd just tell 'em."
    Thanks Joe!!

      @@jkrein82 Dave Hebler has stated in an interview that Elvis swallowed 16 tablets in front of him without water then handed 16 tablets to him. Hebler said he didn't take them, he took them to Dr Nick and after telling Dr Nick where he got them, Dr Nick said "Good job you didn't swallow them or you'd be dead and I wouldn't've been able to rescusitate you" - Either this story is complete garbage or, (since Elvis had just swallowed 16 of those tablets), Elvis Presley died long before August 16th 1977. Your choice what to believe.
      I wouldn't believe everything, if anything Hebler says to you, same thing with Lacker, Lamar, Billy, Red or Sonny (tho' I'd trust Red a lot more before I'd trust the others I've mentioned) Having said that Larry Geller is a shyster and full of sh*t. I think most people in the Elvis Fan Community only like him because he supports their ignorant view on Parker.

    Nice to eavesdrop on a conversation between two friends. So.... she came across open & honest to me. I've only ever read good things about her in books. So she made some interesting comments though. Marty Lacker hard to love, grumpy old man. Interesting.... Larry Geller.. don't want to speak ill of him but clearly you can't believe everything he says. Then Donna Early, who now goes by the name Donna Presley, not because it was ever her name. If she wanted to change her name back after a bad marriage it should be of been Donna Pritchard. Her reasoning to change it to Presley, I wanted to adopt my mother and grandmothers name who I respected. Well...... I've read some of those things that went on in the early 2000's with her and Bud, and they were together quite a while. Curious to know what Edie's position is on her. Read online what Donna & Bud did for yourselves guys. Oh yeah... and Donna making a living off Elvis's name.

    • @zucan100
      @zucan100 11 месяцев назад +4

      @@monikadove8915 you don't think it's opportunism, I know many do. Her maiden name is Pritchard, her married name Earley. She got into a lot of trouble with Budd, a quick search and you can read the things they got up to including stealing money from Elvis fans. Then when the marriage ends she doesn't go back to her maiden name, she prefers a famous name that was never hers. According to Elvis insiders who lived at Graceland, she was there a handful of times as a kid in the early 60's. Didn't have a great deal of interaction with Elvis. Now makes money doing Elvis events off the famous name. I don't know, at least Priscilla actually did have the name at some point.

      @@jkrein82 After reading about Donna and Buddy Early, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and contacted her on FB and asked if she had anything of Elvis' to sell and she sent me a photo of two very sheer nighties she claims Elvis bought for Minnie Mae and she was willing to "part" with them for $1.800 but no one in their right mind would have believed that Elvis would have bought sheer negligee for his grandmother. I played along for awhile but finally called her out for her and her late ex-husband's treatment of the fans and she threw him under the bus, claiming she was terrified of him and had to do what he told her to do. He wasn't telling her to sell those nighties or use her dead mother by claiming that Rev. Nash Pritchard got the nighties out of Minnie Mae's closet and gave them to Donna. I go on for days about how disingenuous and shady Donna is and how she's abused the name Presley.

    • @debra2700
      @debra2700 3 месяца назад

      @@zucan100 Donna Presley makes up wild stories and the fans believe it because they want to believe it. She told a story about her then husband Buddy Early having a conversation with some MM members about Elvis going to California for a teacher conference for Lisa Marie and Elvis said that Priscilla wanted to get back together with him and he have another kid. This would have been after the divorce when Lisa Marie was between five to nine years old. The problem with the story is that Buddy was only ten years older than Lisa having been born in 1958 and he was only nineteen when Elvis died and Donna who was born in 1950 was still married to her first husband, the father of her two sons, Stacy and Jamie. Donna also says that she spent every summer at Graceland growing up but Patsy Presley said in a 1980 interview that Donna only came around Graceland after Elvis died to work for their Uncle Vernon. Patsy, I would trust, Donna never. Donna has used the name Presley to line her own pockets and satisfy her sick desire for attention. Each time her manager, Debbie something-or-other threatens to sue me, I tell her to bring it on, that the fans deserve to know who the real Donna "Presley" is, they shut up.

She repeated the same sentence over and over and it was as if she maybe met him once which is a real pity. I am disappointed. But I understand if you had no intention in an interview with her. She is the very antithesis of s raconteur. She just spews a few platitudes repetitively. Love some of your other interviews. Plus. Elvis is an historic figure of immense cultural importance - it is foolish and disrespectful to only speak of his positive points. It takes away the complexity of a great artist and makes him into a Disney character
