      @@stevenslanguagevlog Lol, high praise indeed as you struggle with reading comprehension. You can promote or demote China as you see fit, but like your god jesus, China simply is and simply doesn't care about your judgments, one way or another. After decades of "freedom" propaganda, such sentiments are only proper, and they've been clearly expressed. Only with illiteracy or wishful thinking could you have drawn any other conclusion. To be unnecessarily explicit, I also don't care if commenting here will promote your videos. I'm simply here to advise my fellow Chinese to be less stupid and naive. For China, there is no escaping the New Cold War, so better the Chinese wise up and lose all such fantasies, just to have even a chance of emerging unscathed and a winner.

    As a Chinese in Montreal I gotta say that bixi was working on something here, bikes are handled and docks are filled. The thing is the planning of Montreal has really limited the use of it.
    Docking( I assume is a must here) have made the last kilo even more complex as it won't work well in snowing winter and because the working hour destination in DT is so concentrated so there will always the case they are out of bikes. or more likely they are out of dock and you must ride 700 meter, walk back because you can't fix it into that gps area but have to dock it.
    Btw I don't think that's some social score, it's a score that mostly measures you credit in huabei, I never seen nor heard companies or even government post demand such thing especially if it is about wrong biking spot.

    • @SomeguyBored

      Also the rise of grocery (for a Chinese always hit newon and check every flayer in 5km, otherwise it's >70% at least ) was actually not that bad, 40~% may look scary than ~15 back home but it looks much better than places like Vancouver or Toronto.

    • @stevenslanguagevlog
      @stevenslanguagevlog  Месяц назад

      I think Bixi in Montreal was my introduction to the shared biking system and I thought it was awesome. Beijing has done a considerable job in making the shared bike system work a lot better over the years, including getting rid of the locking mechanism (all over the internet now), increasing parking spaces (using GPS coordinates), and the overall quality of the bikes has improved.
      As for the social credit system, I know, a few people have commented that it's this or that or doesn't exist at all, but there is a system that docks points for certain infractions and it goes on a register that is tracked. When I couldn't figure out how to lock the bike in an apparently non-lockable place, I forced the APP to consider it "I forgot to lock," which then sent me a text message saying I was docked 0.5 points for the infraction.

      @@stevenslanguagevlog I I recall the name here, it's like a equifax only work for Ali so nobody look at, and for the Docking it is indeed annoying if u are in a hurry, My experience is you must wait for a few seconds before trying to dock the bike, follow the mainstream of them and always make sure you are in that blue zone, I don't know if it was the same in bj (my city kinda kept e bike only for cost reasons ) but I think the zone is marked use not so precised gps coord so you must make sure whatever sends the signal is 10cm inside that zone

      There is no so-called social credit system at all, I am always surprised how many people are brainwashed by western media. There are credit/point based systems in China indeed, just the same as other counties in the world, such as banks, airlines, supermarkets, or e-commerce platforms.

    • @derek849
      @derek849 3 месяца назад +7

      There is no so-called social credit, which is purely the propaganda of the western media. What u may experience in China is the credit/point system existing in banks, supermarkets, airlines or e-commerce platforms, which are the same as other countries in the world.
      In terms of camera, London is one of the Most Surveilled Cities in the world, does it frighten you to visit London?

    • @stevenslanguagevlog
      @stevenslanguagevlog  3 месяца назад +1

      @@derek849 I'm not entirely sure if they call it exactly a "social credit system", but it does refer to what a person does within society, ie, whether they have defaulted on debts, missed payments to banks or credit cards, or been caught stealing something from a store or even running a red light or, as I found out, not parking a share bike in the right location.
      The relationship between China's and the US's version of social credit system might be very similar, but with China the vast majority of people don't have nearly as much disposable income nor access to credit as people in the US or other majorly developed countries. Whether the penalties are the same, I'm not sure as I've never lived in the US.
      As for the fear of travelling to London, yes, I would say I have a similar fear despite the ubiquity of cameras, but not because of the cameras, but because of the people who might take issue with living in China, who might not like someone from China being in their pub, or a variety of other personal reasons. Likewise with New York or even Paris which has had its share of fires lately.
      And it's not like Chinese people exactly love all the cameras either, it's just there's only so much they can do about it.

    • @derek849
      @derek849 3 месяца назад +7

      @@stevenslanguagevlog What you mentioned is common sense, debts and missing payments are managed by the banking system, crime is managed by the police system, running red light is managed by the transportation system, u either lose your credit or get fined, or even have a crime record, which is exactly the same as other countries. I have never heard that parking a shared bike inappropriately is a big deal, if it does impact your subsequent use of the shared bikes, it’s just the company’s policy driven by business, which is totally understandable.
      I think the original comment was talking about the scary social credit system portrayed by the western media, otherwise it wouldn’t have been brought up because it is just common sense.

      lots of reasons, not all of them have to do with a security state. If it's being recorded, can someone else access the recordings? Red light cameras are just one of the types of cameras that won't understand "that one time I had" type of argument. But, not sure where you live if your city is crowded with cameras, but I know a lot of people are suspicious of having them around. They do provide a sense of security, but that's at the expense of having everything you do documented for playback.

      I don't understand, the hint of pollution is the threat of the sand storm? But sandstorms aren't made by burning grasslands. I think what you're trying to say is that not all smog starts in China. I don't doubt this at all, as Mongolian winters can affect those in Beijing.
      Beijing isn't the only one affected by such smog or pollution, you only need to look south to Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan or Zhengzhou. Not to mention Lanzhou. I'm guessing you're arguing that Beijing's pollution is caused by Mongolia, though I'd probably look closer for the source of the smog than the next country over.
