I feel your pain, did SMC mods on prototype PCBs myself- and a steady hand and good eyesight is a must... (actually much of the time I used a 50x bino microscope) with a 0.5mm soldering tip for 'custom wiring' like that- not fun... (especially when the PCB manufacturer made a mistake and I had to mod over a hundred boards to make them work... cut tracks, add links and test every single one, one mistake was big $$$)
New or different content works, since people who watch are inclined to be DIY. I am a long time viewer, before the shed build! However, please keep up the battery work since its an important niche - Idea > maybe you could feature how to source batteries and testing of that stock? I came here to learn especially integration of BMS and testing and construction of safe cells and packs. If you could partner with a wholesaler or at least have a working relationship obtain free stock for your review,? Advice would be helpful for me and others interested in building packs / walls. At worse could you offer an opinion on what cells or used packs that could be useful in future projects? Sourcing batteries are confusing because stock changes all the time - your guidance would be important! This is a great channel thanks for the content! BTW, I'm interested in building water cooled packs from old autos - for my RV - If your soldering maybe a cheap USB microscope on a flex stand would be helpful? Don't worry about the haters - if you produce content it goes with the job! Cheers!
dam you are an longtime viewer !! thank-you! I will find reasons to do more battery builds but they need a reason, don't like the wasteful video for videos sake approach.
not needed, they are SOOO small & have no weight to them so they won't move around. Here is hoping I can find a good supplier for them and just change it back out to standard.
Hello, I would like to know at what temperature you heated the retimer ..... because I heated it to 500 ° C for 10 minutes and it was still well stuck ... I never had this problem with the xbox one x or the xbox one s because it comes off after 1 or 2 minutes.
Should check the voltage to the HDMI chip, because if it's missing it must be the boast converter IC, ie, saves time not doing the HDMI IC. TheCod3r sells console chips.
@@HBPowerwall Maybe an overhead camera like Louis Rossmann. I'd love to see more repair videos. I try to watch Dave's (EEVBLOG) repair videos to try and relearn what I've forgotten since college
BINGE watched Louis back in the day, now he just complains too much. NorthRidgeFix is great but again bitches about his clients, but he is busy so guess there is something to it.. I'll invest in a better camera but my eyes do enjoy the eye pieces better for now..
Hello, i see your video and i think try your method. Do you ever see this xbox series x, we have an electrical shut down and when power back at home this xbox just never put display on tv. Console power up and 30 or 40 sec after she's power off. Not possible to hard reset too. I try her many tv and nothing to do.
Have you ever had Xbox series x display be blurry and low res and things flickers when when scrolling through menu? It’s like really pixelated?… sorry if don’t understand what I mean
Channel name suggestions : "HBPowerwall and other projects", "Peter's power wall and other projects", "Peter's projects"... I'm kinda stuck with the word "projects" 🤷♀️. Others might (will ?) have better ideas 😀
i've not watched the video so sory if i'm repeating something but be cautios when ordering Encoder chips on Aliexpress, i've heard theirs a fair bit of fakes out their that won't work for one reason or another(one reason passably being rebranding a completely different chip but that's just a guess). Also another thing worth noteing is that the Encoders on Series S and Xs seem to be a common failure point so if you want to ensure the console doesn't fail shortly after replacing the Encoder i'd look for some Brand New Encoders but again watch out for fakes, unfortunatly IDK how to identify fakes yet before trying them.
maybe shorten up to "HBPower" . kinda covers the gamut (in its non specificity) , whilst still maintaining recognition. bit of a branding branding exercise after all. can still change it again down the road. ..
Yeh seen some crash n burn with a name change and others just take off to next level. I just want to enjoy it and not worry about loosing work because I was editing, chatting or filming like back in the day .
What a shit show doin them jumpers..... anyway u had success.... lucky u..... i wish i had more success at doin component repairs...bit hard when ur slowly goin blind too.
ooh I've had dozens of ps5's that someone has adamantly been a little heavy handed with - SHOVING the HDMI cable in like a teen boy... Just pushes the pins off the board, and stops working.. easy repair but can't 'fix' it..
Good to see videos like this again .. With the jumper Wires only going to get 1080P ... Can't boost the signal 4K
*thinks - My own console has this repair, have I actually ever tested 4k ... also need a 4k tv in the workshop, no one can argue that logic... hehe
@HBPowerwall Yeah I would test it mate ... It is a nice mod 👌 though
For the result its a winner short term..
"Please don't hate me for changing it up a bit from time to time." I've never been madder about anything 😄!
lolz
LOVE IT! 🙂 🔥

Nice one :-)
You stick a bit of kapton tape across the jumper wires?
not needed, they are SOOO small & have no weight to them so they won't move around. Here is hoping I can find a good supplier for them and just change it back out to standard.

these boards SUCK the head, to do retimer I use 500 full air and a heating plate under it..
A you got your minie going mate 👍
Both 'going' Green one leaks a wee bit of oil... building a new motor for it atm

Well done that’s not an easy job to do. ❤
Hardest part was filming it lol

Sounds like power supply, but could be anything really.

Sounds like HDMI encoder or i think Xbox call it a 'Retimer IC'

Yeh, kinda considered those and many more like it.. I hope I get some entertaining suggestions!
Hey wow I’m having a very similar probably do you think you could help me with mine?
yep, but twenty bucks says your not close to me lol
that kid's a lucky son of a bitch to have a dad that does what you do
Will the booster absence not pose any issues? Can you just run the xbox like that long term?
My kids have run ours for about 12 months so far Kinda daily useage.. But it's going to fail.. I took out the booster and put it in a clients..

i've changed only 2 encoders out of many hundreds of jobs, both from ali and worked fine (so far)
What would you charge for this?
Currently I charge $155 with less than 2 hour turn around the goal

Nope, just a different inflection on the “E”. I like the new direction of the channel. Thanks for the content and keep up the good work!
