Not sure if anyone noticed , no scripted questions , no scripted answers , honest raw emotions, answers that came from the heart . Far cry from today's players reportes interviewers. All done with humility respect class 👏
I love the padding. Might as well be wearing a light jacket. Same level of protection. No helmets, wool jerseys, cotton undershirts….these guys were tough.
I attended the Billy Harris-Dave Keon during the summers of 1969 and 70. It's great memory to have been on the ice with Dave, Billy, Bruce Gamble, Jim McKenny and Marcel Pronovost. They were great role models because they walked the walk of champions.
Last year of the six team league. It's amazing to see so many of my heroes again from that wonderful night. It's curious that Punch wasn't there to say a few words. It was a very challenging season, so maybe the proud Scot told them what they could do with their interview. He was very hard on the players, especially Mahovlich, but he was even tougher on himself and the stress landed him in the hospital. King Clancy took over for a while, and the team played well for him during a ten game stretch. Punch returned later for the Cup run. He's known for counting on the older players like Bower, Sawchuk, Armstrong and Kelly.
Civility and poise was a reflection of this generation of players. True role models for youngsters and never a fear that they may embarrass or act unwholesome in public. Many years ago, but way ahead in human behavior.
Toronto Maple Leafs won 13 Stanley Cups which is an incredible achievement.. Toronto Maple Leafs has rich championship history... the only problem its been a really long time since Toronto last won the Stanley Cup.. but I am telling you the pain will end when Toronto captures a 14th championship..
Back when players were humble and didn't draw attention to themselves. The young players calling out the older players and the older players digging deep inside themselves. A coach that ran his team like a well oiled machine. There were times when they didnt like his task master approach but he was the great motivator when it mattered most in the playoffs.
Ward Cornell asked Mr.Campbell when will they be announcing The Conn Smyth trophy winner he answered the day after tomorrow. Times have changed 😄 Dave Keon of course winning the Smyth.🍁 Although the Great Goalie Terry Sawchuk could have easily won it He played Brilliant 🌟 especially in that 67 Cup victory May 2,1967
The last original 6 team that won the Stanley Cup before expansion. Ward Cornell Frank Selky Jr Brain McFarlane Bill Hewitt Foster Hewitt Danny Gallivan Dick Irvine the standard bearers of Hockey Commentators. Followed by Dan Kelly Bob Cole, Mike Emery, Fred Cusick, Bob Goldam Jack Benette and Joe Bowen today
57 years since they won their 13th Stanley Cup. I dream of the day when they finally win the Stanley Cup. Maple Leafs fans of all ages will be shocked, happy, emotional, also in disbelief when that day comes.

The humility of these legends is what actually made them all-time legends!

I've seen suits in the 80s with bigger shoulder pads.
@@CBCSports And those were on the women! Big hair and shoulder pads!!
This is absolute gold... so intetesting in so many ways...
Love how they are just passing the mic between them.

The were great until the met Ballard...
Yea the Laffs won the 13 cups in a 6 team league. Once the league expanded in 1967 to more teams, they have won nadda, nothing since lol.
What a class team; love those guys!
What a flashback. Super cool and interesting.

I remember watching this.
Damn this is history!
I was 6....still waiting for the next one but not expecting anything
"The name Smythe is going to be on the cup 11 times. Nobody's ever going to do that again."
Henri Richard and Jean Beliveau have entered the chat...
Love Armstrong getting the final goal
it's kind of funny watching Ward and Frank share the mic
They got the long time part right......still waiting
Who’d have thought the Leafs would never make it back to the finals let alone win one in the 50+ years since this video was made…
The last Stanley Cup title and appearance by the Maple Leafs to date.
Terry Sawchuk was a lot of things, but he was not the bad guy a lot of people have portrayed him as.
He was just his own worst enemy. May he rest in peace.
Warrior . Bower and Sawchuk best 1 2 tandem
Conn Smythe world War one vet.
My Father's Father, as well. May they all rest in Peace.
It really bothers me that they dispensed with all the names of the divisions and the conferences.
@@samuelluria4744 You mean the Smythe Norris Adam's and Patrick divisions.
@@mckessa17 - No, McGillicuddy, Hoffenfeffer, Barnes and Noble.

You're telling me the Leafs once won the Stanley Cup? You must be pulling my leg...

So many Leaf stars would be traded or retired the next . Red Kelly retired the big M traded to d Detroit etc.
the curse of the big M is still there . Frank was 30 yrs old when he was traded to Detroit in the prime of his career
back when the pay was celebrity & getting to play hockey for a living...
you mean when the players were slaves.
Great to see 👀 Terry Sawchuck, and Tim Horton 👏 there's a real hockey 🏒 player look: Tim Horton 😊
There is goes the bell the game is over Bill Hewitts call
Well, Tim Horton do you have any plans to possibly start a business in the future?

Should we tell them?
You could _try_ to tell them, ...but they'd NEVER believe you...😄😄😄😜
For you youngsters, there used to be actual physical strength involved in winning a face-off.🤪
Thank God for the digital age. The film soon disintegrated after this was copied.
Was this right after Pearl Harbor?
Are you trying to be disrespectful, or just trying to be jocular?
Still more recent than the Cleveland Browns championship
How things have changed for the worse.
Terry looks terrible. Bet he didnt sleep much. Stemkowski was working a hockey school i went to in 1971. He was hung over most mornings
judging by how he looks, id say sawchuk was in the early days of his alcoholism
