I upgraded my 2007 GS to tractive like you, and then purchased a 300 rally shortly afterwards. I made similar upgrades (on the Honda) as you did. The result was that the BMW now sits in the garage. This video makes me want to take it back out to the desert to do side by side comparisons
I'll be taking my BMW through the outback and into the Simpson Desert next year. It will be interesting to compare it to the my results when I did the same trip on my CRF 300 Rally.
Money well spent.
Really great video 😊
Lukasz from T-Tech suspension is a great guy for sure and also a good friend, too.
But when it comes to the suspension, he's the one that sticks out from the crowd.
He serviced and re-valved my suspension on my Beta 300 RR using the best components, and it transformed the bike completely .(But that didn't stop me from crashing and hurting my shoulder on the weekend😂)-it was my only fault, though 😂
Your GS is certainly flying now😊
I might have to wake up my old 134k miles GS 1150 and get Lukasz to do his magic to it.
All the best and ride safe...but not too safe😂👊
Haha... Thanks. Please pass on my thanks to Lukasz next time you see him.
Love your work Shonky. Great to build a bike to your needs and likes.
Nice one Sean, the shop you mentioned are just up the road from me. I’ve heard great things about them 👍🏻
Suspension & Tires are the most important mods you'll ever do on a bike..... I've never liked all the sensors on vehicles
but that's what we all must deal with. Thanks for the info
@@diggy-d8w very true.
Hey Shonkey, I looked about for the shocks/suspension info but didn't see it. Are the products made
by the man in the UK? The biggest issue I'm seeing as I research bikes is the suspension on most
of them is lacking..... and somehow something as simple as a coil of steel costs astronomical
amounts of money? I'm trying to understand but all I know is I need a decent suspension in any
bike I ride. Thanks for this & does the man in the UK have a website, do you know? Thanks again
@@diggy-d8w Great question. I will update the description with the shock details.
They are made by the Tractive factory in the Netherlands and then shipped to Luke at T-Tech who fine tuned the valving for my application.
The cost was just under 2000 British pounds, which converts into $4000 Australian dollars. Expensive... But worth it.
I'm here b/c I've been researching for 8 months now as I save my money for a dual sport bike. I've not got
$2,800 USD's which ain't that much but I'm using the time to learn all I can about the bikes I'm possibly
going to buy & to parts/services in respect to the needed MOD's on said bikes..... lol, so naturally when
I come upon extra good info I want to make it where when I get my Bike I can move to not waste money
on other cheap fixes. Any links you drop will be most appreciated but some of the Duals I'm looking at
have other bikes w/ suspensions that can be swapped out. Honda's 150L has a 150 motor-cross swap
of the TripleTree which is a huge upgrade if I wind up on that little bike. I'll make it do if I buy her & the
truth is the 150L costs $2900 + $500 in Title, Tags, & fees. So I could be on that very soon but you
know I want a bit more, that's why I watch your channel..... lots to learn. peace
On my 890 AR I found the comfort setting much better for general trails and then I backed them off 1 click at a time until I got it to the plushness I was happy with. Basically it was 3 clicks softer than "comfort" and like you, upped the preload a bit. The result was a plush ride that didn't bottom out on faster hits and G outs. The point is, play around click by click until it feels like you want it too. As long as you have a base setting to come back to, just keep trying to get the most out of your investment.
Thanks, I will have a bit more of a play with the clickers once I get a few more miles on it.
Awesome stuff mate. Been looking at doing something like that. Will need to budget for it now... 🙂
Thanks. It is a sizeable investment, but something that I wanted to do from the start with my build. Even in these early days I can see the results and am glad I spent the money.
I switched over to TracTive earlier this year on the 1250GS (it's used on road) and it's transformed the bike.
Lukasz did mine for me and I was able to visit him to have them fitted. He is an absolute legend.
I can get it to handle like an XR. Around the Nürburgring it was astonishing how much faster it is from standard.
Because it's a road bike, I've kept the ESA (incidentally, TracTive invented the modern ESA for BMW) as I like to swap the settings often depending on what mood I'm in and the surface.
That's another great endorsement for Lucasz and Tractive. I too noticed an improvement on the road... even with my 21 inch front wheel and knobby tyres, the Tractive suspension gives me more confidence in corners.
Hi Sean, have you got a video on the 21" conversion and did it make a big improvement? I've got an 04 GS with Wilbers and would like a 21" if its worth it.
Here is a short video on my build: ruclips.net/video/0azc3Iq32c0/видео.htmlsi=8GdAeLUVTeDe37mQ
Nice work💯👌
how did you get the navigation tower?
this setting is so good to use
